    Robocop could be the most underrated and underappreciated movie of all time. It still looks incredible today. The visuals, acting, music, sound effects, direction, all of it is amazing. Then the multilayered story that seems to become more apparent every decade or so is next level clever. Layer - dumb action movie about a crime fighting cyborg Layer 2 - commentaries on corporate greed Layer 3 - Asking if the suits are any less criminal than the gangs Layer 4 - literal interpretation of the resurrection. He even walked on water at the end through a visual quirk. Im sure even more will become apparent eventually.

    I like this critique. I just got to say blaming capitalism or socialism is kind of dumb because these are just ideas that people use to live by. The United States wouldn't exist if it weren't for both of these ideas. That being said, I believe that RoboCop is actually a satire on the modern world and the prevalent promotion of material consumerism and everything being backed by large corporations. This kind of corruption you can find pretty much everywhere in any kind of situation in any kind of political climate. This is just the result of human greed and large corporations representing that human greed. I love it when people try to make robocop political only to realize that RoboCop is actually making fun of those who try to make everything political not realizing their own ideas might have come from a think tank and a marketing team from another large corporation to sell more "American" stuff.

    Disagree on the check point comment. If you play the game on easy you realize how close they actually are. What makes it feel far away is cause of the games challenge and how much enemies they throw at you. I beat the game on every single difficulty and started to notice this as I went along. I do agree that the longest level is the final especially compared to the previous shorter ones. I do appreciate as well that they give you a check point right before the boss encounter since it would've been a bitch to go through group of enemies then face a boss. I do like that you didn't complain about enemies being sponges when it came to the guns. As i'v seen a few people saying that it take multiple head shots to kill people yet im here on the hard dropping enemies with quick headshots. I wondered if those people actually played the game. I do agree the guns weren't the main course of the combat just as you said used until you closed the gap. I also liked the police station hang outs and even the characters were fun to be around. I do not know if a sequel will ever come but i'm sure as hell down for it if it happens. This also made the recent surprisingly fun samurai jack game.

      @@digitalhauntology I did see that, and this is the first piece of content I've seen from you (I like your presentation style, subscribed and definitely will be watching more) And I agree that the survival Horror was put aside for the sake of different themes which is a little bit of a bummer, But in general Night Spring episodes are thrown away as "escape attempts" when that's not all there is to it, each serves a very clear purpose and was to some extent a smaller battle in the large war that was the Return manuscript, they are too far from reality to be considered genuine attempts at escaping the dark place, though we see their effects in reality and how they set the dominos up to fall at the right places when the proper draft came around; Number 1 Fan prepared Rose for the oncoming battle and assured that she only works towards saving Alan, and not his double - North Star could be what ended up making Jesse go towards the Oldest House and also make Tim familiar with the sight of the red headed woman - and Time Breaker assured that Tim looked into Mr.Door, so he could be at the right place, in the right time, to help Saga go where she needed to go. All of these characters within the prime universe were affected by events that their Variants experienced on other islands within the Sea of Night. I recommend checking out Gaming University's channel, it's a little bit of a self plug since I do the video production on that channel but in terms of writing, jumping into how it all works I think could change your perspective on these episodes.

    • @digitalhauntology
      @digitalhauntology 15 днів тому

      @yellowbat79 I get what you are saying. I don’t think of them as escape attempts in the most literal sense. It’s like what you said, Alan was manipulating pieces on a chessboard and trying to get things to fall into place. But at least in my interpretation- a lot of the stuff that he has done and continues to do are jumbled. And things that may have served one purpose are all coming together in strange ways. I always liked the Dadaist line in AWE, to me it kind of shows that he’s definitely playing with things that he doesn’t quite understand but he has to try. And I’ve actually seen a few videos on that channel. Keep up the good work. Also thanks for the kind words, and thank you checking out the channel.

    'Alen is not a good guy' I picked up on this at the very beginning of Alen Wake one where he and Alice interacted with each other. He was on a hair trigger. I was horrified when I saw how he responded after he saw the type writer and that he lashed out his frustrations about his mental health.... oof. The fact that he A) abandoned Alice during her PTSD attack when the lights cut out and B) the fact that he said to himself 'Good' with malice in his voice. Alice may never know that Alen wanted to punish her for pushing him towards taking care of himself because his behavior was a DANGER to others (and this later being confirmed that Alen does resort easily to violence towards others)... Yeah. I play through these games with a 'middle aged white man experiences consequences for his actions, oh nooooo' Very Stephen Kingisk. And also the reason why I stopped reading Stephen King. I also have ex'es with similar anger issues. That they would explode the moment I would suggest that they needed help and that instead of taking the suggestion, they would either be too stubborn to get help, get angry or play the bigger victim. The fact that both Alex and Saga name Alen's selfish behavior directly, is also very telling to me. I like that they are directly addressing that Alen's behavior is just unacceptable and that Alen just... does not defend himself against those acquisations. And in a way, Alice enables Alen's behavior because she loves him. Which I get. I hated having to break up because these different men I was with during the years were all suffering. I did not want to make it worse. To them, it was easier to make me worse than them getting help. Alice tries so, so hard to help her husband and said husband can only learn to help himself through seeking out the help of others. I liked that conclusion. I hope that Alen gets his shit together and I hope that Alice divorces him. If Alen would have gone to therapy for his issues, like she had suggested, all those marriage issues would not have to escalate in the way they did. The events of Alen Wake (and the events in Control) would not have happened if he would have done so. The price that Alen would have to pay, is to live with that knowledge and accept that there is no draft that can undo the actions that he set into motion. That he has to accept the consequences of his actions and live with it.

    • @digitalhauntology
      @digitalhauntology 16 днів тому

      Yeah I totally agree- Alan has always been extremely flawed, even since the beginning. But the point that I was making with that line, was that I don’t think Alan is a hero- and I think he is actively a threat to the rest of the Remedy connected universe. I’ve never really like how Alice Wake has been characterized in the early games. In my opinion she was treated like more of a plot device than a character. But I’m glad they seem to be doing more with the character nowadays. I have a sneaking suspicion though, that with Alan becoming something of a demigod with his powers, that later Remedy games will overtly paint him as the villain. And establishing Saga as a main character could lead into that. It’s just a theory of mine right now- only time will tell with where this series goes. Thank you for watching. Glad you aren’t dealing with bad relationships nowadays.

    I played Rogue City day 1, and still can't get enough of it. The sound design for this game was not what I wanted though. There are no original movie sounds for this game. And some of the gameplay features was also lacking. I've waited for a new RoboCop game since the awful Titus game was released for PS2 and Xbox in 2003. And Rogue City is definitely the best RoboCop game to date. But not the most authentic one. So I decided to fund a mod project for the game to make it as authentic to the first two movies as possible by implementing professionally cleaned up original movie sounds, and improving gameplay features through mods as well. The project is called "Sakishiro's Authentic RoboCop: Rogue City Mod Project". And it's still ongoing. A new 100% movie accurate Targeting System mod has just been finished. Will make a preview video of it soon. Stay tuned, Robo fans!

Number One Fan showed off how good the combat COULD have been in AW2 if they weren't afraid to give you more ammo and more enemies like the older games, and Time Breaker actually had a TON of huge ramifications for the greater universe - the reason you probably didn't think so is not playing Quantum Break.

When Estevez and Casey are waiting for Saga to tell them the summoning plan, you have the option to ask Estevez for details about her trip into town and what happened there. The narration is her talking directly to Saga (idk if that's made clear when you play it standalone). Then you go right into the point of no return (ha ha) save.

And I’d be happy to never have to talk about gamergate ever again, but history has a way of repeating itself. Thank you for your thoughts. Glad to have you here. Hope that stuff doesn’t overshadow the stuff that you like about the channel.

    Thank you! I always suspect that Alan Wake has become the ultimate big bad in this universe. I thought it was really f*cked-up that he wrote in Saga to his manuscript. Great analysis!

      Yeah, I thought they were basically beating us over the heads with it during Night Springs- but the amount of people I run into that don’t seem to agree is pretty crazy. We will see in the future. And yeah, Saga, The Marmonts, and Lane all got super raw deals. Thank you for watching. I’m glad you liked the video.

      I think he's both the ultimate good and ultimate bad. He is both God and the Devil. Just look at how Scratch is described - and Alan is his inverse.

    I believe it was said that Alan Wake doesn't simply create realities. A claim that he is the root cause of all of the misfortune is incorrect. He is more of a conscientious medium between reality, fiction and the future. It's something like different futures and realities bleeding into his vision, which let's him write. So he is kind of like a clairvoyant more than anything.

      Yeah I think we just have different reads on what is going on. We will see how it plays out in the future. Thank you for watching.

      @@digitalhauntology It's how it's explained in the main game. He sees "visions" of things that he could possibly have no idea about. He originally misinterpreted these visions as artistic inspiration, which is how he wrote the Casey novels. He didn't know he was writing about an actual guy

      I think his power limitations people keep referring to as fact are an in-universe, in-character error. "All these rules you set for yourself.."

    Robocop is not purely an 80s action movie, its more of an horror action movie, especially the first 2 movies.. So much brutatlity and disturbing scenes like the ones when they present the Robots that lose their mind or kill ppl around when they malfunction.. Its like Terminator 1, a mix of Action and some horror elements.. Gosh i wish movies nowadays had this haunting / disturbing element in some movies..

    What I want to know is... What's up with that one guy at the bus stop in the intro of the game that keeps looking back at Jesse after she enters the Oldest House, should she stand still for a bit?

      Always trying to have an open mind- but there have always been things about the genre that I’m not the biggest fan of. I recently played the Silent Hill 2 remake and SH: Short message- and I’ll definitely make a video about them in due time. But both experiences we super rad even if I was questioning certain choices. Honestly, I’m kinda of happy to take a little break from my boy Alan. I’ve been thinking about that fool almost everyday for the last year. But I’ll be there with bells on the next time Remedy drops anything. Thanks for watching, buddy.
