My mistake, first pic should be "Cheap $2 Rod Holder MOUNT" not rod holder. Made from SCH40 PVC 1" to 1/2" conversion T
Nice well for trolling

Where did you get those wheels from?
I like the custom mods. How did you make the back piece?
Very nicely done, thank you for sharing!! A picture is worth a thousand words a video, worth millions!
I'm shopping for a replacement for my 1980's 6HP 2cyc Johnson. Does anyone know if there is truly a 50% HP difference between the Mercury 4HP and 6HP? Spec's are nearly identical for cylinder displacement, stroke, and weight. The dealer couldn't provide a good answer or neither could Mercury support. Only that the carb was different. Is it worth the hundreds of $$$ for the initial purchase?
Not sure about the 50%. But I have heard there's also a prop swap that goes along with the conversion to the 6HP.
Dimana sy bisa beli,4.pk.4 takk. Merkury.
Carb/prop kit and ya got a 6

Just tried today and the 1 inch PVC is just barely too tight. Idk what to do now lol
If you ditched the wheels propped up as they are you would go significantly faster... Not that you're not already running an outboard way overweight for that boat, but who cares, fast is cool and flotation vests actually work... To a point, it keeps your dead corpse floating after you've died of hypothermia for quite awhile.
I got 32kmh or 20mph out of a 6hp Mercury 4 stroke on a 12”. Slight wind advantage. I beefed up the transom. My 5 year old son sitting on the floor between bench 3 and 2 and I (245lbs) was sitting on the floor between bench 2 and 1. Did not expect to see that speed to be honest.
Where can i find parts for my motor or can anyone tell me why its not firing
Where can i find parts for this motor ?
Good outboard! Haha, we are the ones who work hard on UA-cam! I subscribed to your channel!
I don't understand ... why have a Porta Bote if you're not going to fold it up? Why not just get a regular boat? You have a pickup so a trailer would be no big deal ... ? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just honestly curious. :) Thanks for the video.
Seriously that seems to be quite fast... are you riding in a cooking pot?

I thought the transom was rated for 3.5 hp and 45# max. How is this rig holding up?

hello have a porta 10 an old Johnson 25hp my question is what about the floor it sucks for me back and forth that is a problem for the boat I thought that the engine is too high can you give me a picture of how high your engine is
just curious, after 7 years, how has it held up?
how easy to install & uninstall the alum support on the transome?
How fast?
Hello I have a 14ft portabote just bought it used, can you show me your wheels set up please? Also do you have pictures of the U shape transom set up please! By the nice set up!
How has the boat held up after 7 yrs ??
Top speed?
gotta love the 4stroke outboard. so smooth
You ever have one? Nothing but smooth..
Nice quiet slow idle.
Thats clever but its just bragging if your not going to reveal how you made it! Lol
These are some of the best outboards built by OMC....And, one of the best outboards built by any manufacturer. Reliable, simple, and easy to service.....Too bad they could still build this same model today, OMC would still be in business
Did you buy it online or at a dealership?
Is the black closed foam flotation around the inside standard, or did you add it?
Good one.
have someone videotape next time so that we can see the full view
Bump on the dolly design. Can you provide more details?
I was using woodprix instructions to make it and I did it already :)
it looks fast for a 4hp
Facts
I just picked one up at a farmer's market.
how many knots can you reach with this motor??
14 MPH on a bass boat maybe more on something a bit more sleek.
i so wanna get this one for my intex Excursion 5.. wonder if its compatible.
kaneda956 it is
got one .. a 3.5 hp.. .. it runs good.. but too heavy for the mounting frame.. i ordered a Bris boat Kay-boat . cant wait to try it out
Same, it's rated for 3.5hp but I think it can handle a 4hp but I'm still nervous that it might be pushing it and not work out. have you gotten yours yet and tested it? I noticed this comment was written 3 years ago
@@arashrezaee1464 Don't do it! I have an Intex Excursion 5 also. I put a 62 pound thrust(0.87hp) electric trolling motor that is only 27-28 pounds and when I go full speed it tucks the back end down a bit. This 4 stroke 4hp is about 55 pounds. Not only way too heavy but way too strong. There are some 2 stroke 3.5 outboards that are about 29 pounds. You could technically put it on but can't go full throttle. The only way to do it is to have a custom reinforced bracket to a custom built floor or the oar holders or both. Either way don't recommend it. Those are fun to put around but you get tired of going 3 miles an hour. Eventually, get a real inflatable with the built it transom. Those are fun!
@@jairhernandez1881 shit too late I just got a 3.5hp mercury outboard for a steal of a price so I couldn't pass it up ($650 brand new). I didn't go with the 4.0hp though so hopefully this will work out since the intex website says it's rate for 3.5hp max. The thing is about 38 pounds so hopefully the boat can keep it up and won't fold going full throttle.
What size boat
Patrick Oglesby ten cm
As I was looking into this engine for my 10' Portabote, I was looking at the specs for engine weight and it says that your engine is 81lbs. I would like to think with the added support that it would still work for my boat. Per the "company rep" that I spoke with today, your 12' is rated to 58lbs for an engine. Any input would be great. Thanks
my outboard is ns9.8b 2 stroke, it weighs in at 59lbs so it's not really over the weight limit. the extra bracing I have on the transom minimizes the flexing with the extra power.
I wonder if that boat would handle a 20 hp motor ??? Could maybe double that speed or maybe close to 50 mph...
I wouldn't recommend it, from my understanding there is a limitation on speed due to the flexible hull not to mention the motor weight limit on the transom. You will need to do some major modifications to it.
can a 14ft porta-bote handle a 10hp??
Yes. If you get a Yamaha 9.9 2 stroke and change out the reed cage from a 15 hp Yamaha 2 stroke, you will now have a 15 hp 2 stroke outboard at under the transom weight limit. www.portaboat.ca/14inPortaBoteAlpha1?tag=14%20Ft%20Porta%20boats%20%20
@@johnq.public2621 wow thank you
