As much as its an honor to have the largest US embassy in the world at Lagos, Nigeria. My fear is that the embassy is located right at close to the ocean and we know how cunny America could be about secrecy. I am very optimistic that there are two architectural design plan for this embassy. One just for the government consumption and the other the classified one. I wont be shocked that they are building a secret tunnel passage directly into the ocean. We know our the American special forces such as the seal team and CIA operates with their submarines. There are opportunities for this project but what I see the most is the threat it might pose for country.

We dont want any u.s property in our land, they will use dat as a spy place CIA land n try taking over ur land.

I like the fact that the development of Eko Atlantic City is not rushed. It is going to be one of the most beautiful cities overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The waterfront view is so amazing and breathtaking. In the next two years, a lot of high-rise buildings would have been completed and occupied. Thanks for this update. I really enjoyed it.🎉

This is the largest Consulate in the world but note that its only a Consulate and not a full fledged embassy. That of Baghdad is bigger but its that's an embassy. Consulates are built outside the administrative capitals of a country. And of all the Consulates USA have this one is the biggest. But that doesn't mean we cant see some USA embassies bigger than this consulate.

I hope the usa/ Nigeria agreement is not complicated.. Especially over sovereignty.....Dont trust usa with your territory.....The likes of panama, Greenland are regretting it

I am ecxited about the prospet of Eko Atlantic few commpanies has relocated to the city this year like Shell, TVC news/entertaintment, Max fm, Salvic petroleum resources limited in Azuri office tower and new international school coming in September. Please could I suggest an update on the following 1 Drive through the private villa area/phase 3, Consulate tower and Maison Beverly 2 Drive through the city from the main gate. towards business, marina, habour district etc Your driving through the city is magical and serene even with the relatively small skyline. Preferably day and night video please? 3 Update on the mall, the new school, Emmanuel church, phase 4 reclamation and coastal road around Eko Atlantic

The construction project targets Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification --a globally recognized designation for achievement in high performance, best-in-class, green buildings -- and incorporates many features designed to make the building more sustainable. Ennead Architects LLP of New York is the design architect, Pernix Federal, LLC of Lombard, Illinois, is the design/build contractor, and EYP, Inc. of Albany, New York, is the architect of record. The construction project will take approximately five years, with completion expected in 2027.

Located on a 12.2-acre site in the rapidly developing Eko Atlantic City, the new U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will support diplomatic and commercial relations between the United States and Nigeria and will provide American and Nigerian Consulate employees with a safe, secure, sustainable, and modern workplace. The $537 million new Consulate construction project will directly benefit the Nigerian people. Throughout the project, an estimated $95 million will be invested in the local economy, and the project will employ approximately 2,500 Nigerian citizens, including engineers, architects, artisans, construction workers, and administrative staff. These workers will have the opportunity to learn new technical skills and safety awareness that will help distinguish them in the local market. In her remarks at the ceremony, Ambassador Mary Beth Leonard expressed appreciation to the Government of Nigeria and the Lagos State Government for their support. “Our vision for this remarkable Consulate campus is to create a facility that both honors the vibrant relationship between the United States and Nigeria and communicates the spirit of American democracy, transparency and openness,” Ambassador Leonard said. “Nigeria and the United States have a long-standing history of people-to-people engagement fostering bridges between our two nations. We look forward to the many accomplishments we will continue to achieve together in the future,” Consul General Claire Pierangelo said. The new Consulate will provide a modern space for the largest consular operation in Africa, including improved public-facing interview and waiting areas. When completed, it will be the largest U.S. Consulate in the world, demonstrating the importance of the relationship between the United States and Nigeria.

At a historic groundbreaking ceremony highlighting the enduring bilateral friendship and partnership between the United States and Nigeria, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined U.S. Ambassador Mary Beth Leonard and U.S. Consul General Claire Pierangelo on Thursday to officially mark the beginning of construction on a new, modern U.S. Consulate General in Lagos.
