Obie and Family in April
Obie's had a rough go this last couple of months! They had a hard time spawning eggs and had to visit the vet to get a hormone injection, but now we have eggs! Hopefully Obie doesn't have any tumors or other issues, but we'll see in a follow up vet visit next month.

Obie & Family Thanksgiving Break!

Obie, Angelo, Caviar and the babies are all getting fat for winter. (Especially Obie) If you're wondering what the weird lumps on Obie are: they're warts from a carp-specific virus. Sadly, no cure; but no worries, they don't hurt Obie either!

Obie's latest spawn of fry are growing up fast! Looks like at least 6-7 have made it this far and they should start coloring up in a few months. They're bold little babies; already coming out to eat with the big fish!

Baby Goldfish in Indoor Pond! Biggest I've seen
Переглядів 180Рік тому
I noticed some decent sized goldfish fry when I was doing a waterchange and these are the biggest I've seen! Normally most of the babies and eggs are eaten up very quickly, but it looks like at least 4 of them have managed to evade the Obie's hungry gaze... I'm not wanting any more goldfish, but if this lot can make it then they deserve to stay! 0:00 Obie is so big 3:25 Angelo Getting Upclose a...
Baby Goldfish Joins Their Parent(s)

Little Caviar was introduced to Obie and Angelo over the weekend and so far so good. Caviar has a tall order ahead of them... competing with your parent Obliteros and step-parent Angelo might be a big difficult when you're half their size!
Angelo joins Obie in the Goldfish Pond
Переглядів 251Рік тому
It's been a weird and stressful couple of weeks for Obie (and Angelo!). Obie developed a mild fungal infection last month and seems to be having issues passing eggs. I tried to treat Obie in a quarantine tub, but he wasn't having it, so I forked out the money to treat him in his pond! He seemed to be recovering fine until early last week after a water change. I had been keeping a heater going w...
Indoor Goldfish Pond 2 year Update!

2 years later and my 150 gallon makeshift indoor goldfish pond for Obliteros the library goldfish is going strong! Had some issues with the waterpump for the pond, struggled to keep lily pads alive, and dealt with some goldfish drama, but otherwise it's been a success! I'm hoping for many more years of experimentation and learning as it develops.
Caviar the Baby Goldfish
Переглядів 174Рік тому
A change of pace: here's some footage of baby Caviar in his grow out tank with his two platy buddies. Normally you don't keep tropical fish with goldfish since they like different temperatures, but this tank is kept at room temperature which is about 71-75 degrees in the library, which has been good for both types. Obviously before Caviar becomes large enough to eat his tankmates, they will be ...
An Interesting Perspective

Obie and Jonathan from another angle... probably not the best angle, but cool looking! If you're curious: the plants you see among the roots is mostly guppy grass. It's been growing out of control in my other tanks so I figured Obie and Jonathan can nibble on it. Edit: If you've noticed the weird bumps on Jonathan and Obie; these are warts! Sadly, like with humans, they're caused by a virus and...

I have 3 fantails and they are great. I have a planted tank which gets eaten but I believe as they are clever fish need areas to investigate, dig and destroy. So it's lovely to see this indoor pond and great that he now has a friend 🥰 great job 👍
