    Thanks for making this video. Very informative and most of all functional. I like that you used the 1" sections to go inside the 1" 1/4" to allow for easy removal while transporting. You could incorporate at least three rod holders in the 1" 1/4" behind the seat if you felt you needed them. I also have the 27" fenders. They are a lot more stable than the smaller 23". I have a Brooklyn RA220. It's 11.5 ft. so at 34" wide by 11.5 ft the 27" seems much more appropriate. Thanks again. Please end me links if you have other videos.

    You know, the method of attachment is sturdy enough you could use the same to attach a trolley wheel also. The issue would be bracing the wheels because of the long moment arm and stress to the attachment. Urey struts or even para cord running fore and aft to pad eyes could give support to the deployed wheels.

    Being 100% of the time I anchor from the rear with the water pulling me down stream so I can fish the bank I just use a carabiner to hook my rope to my rear carry grip with the anchor hanging and the remaining rope tied off by the zig zag and rope under my seat. Makes it easy to switch use to my other kayak also.

    Screws in the hull with no reinforcement 100% WILL pull out. All it'll take is a strong enough wind or current and they'll tear right out.

    Instead of vice grips, put two nuts on the bolt (after your bolt is screwed on a ways) you can tighted those two nuts together so you can then use a wrench on one of those nuts to hold the bolt still while you finish screwing down the nut. Once your main nut is tight, you can just remove the other two nuts.

  • @22busy43
    @22busy43 3 роки тому

    Great job on the design. I definitely want to incorporate some of these ideas. I’m trying to find a way to make it easily removable so I can load my kayak on my car.

    • @5gadventureoutdoors8
      @5gadventureoutdoors8 3 роки тому

      Thanks for the view and comment.. You could add a nut to the bolts that hold the bolts in place then set the bord directly on top of those nuts and tighten the board down the same way as the video shows. This would allow you to remove the board but the bolts would remain in place.

    • @5gadventureoutdoors8

      Thank you for the question. We went with the board so we could make sure the main pvc pipe was secure. I was afraid mounting just to the kayak would not be secure enough.

      Thx for video. I have pelican Sentinel 100XP. Was going to rig these with the 90 degree pipe stuck in existing rod holders. You think your method is more stable? Also did the pvc tees and 90s attach to electrical conduit tightly? What glue? They make glue for both kind of pipe.

    Nice clarity on doing the video. If how is the trolley working out for you? If you were to do it again, would you mount the bow and Stern eye pads in the same location or would you mount them above the seam? I have the teton pro and am going to mount a trolley on mine as well

    For anyone who does this, make sure to use a hatch similar to the one they use in the video. I used a screw on type hatch and it is difficult to screw on and off because of the slight bend. Just ordered a different hatch and will be replacing it.

  • @chrisstaley6518

    Awesome video, I purchased nearly the exact same hatch. Was thinking about buying some thicker neoprene to make a thicker ring to go around the base because I’m worried the plastic does not deflect enough to keep water out. Can you speak to the longevity of your install, and wether or not water has ever gotten inside your yak? Thanks for any information and for making the video! Warm weather is just around the corner!

    Great ideas except that the USCG requires a solid white light, visible from 2 miles away(at night of course) The way I understand it is the flashing light is a sign of distress on the water. I could be wrong but it's best to check the laws on the body of water that you will be on. Rip'n Lips in Amarillo Texas!
