Hey there! I've decided it's about time I stop and smell the Peacebloom. Rather than pumping out high octane guides, I'm beginning to reflect on what I find to be the more important aspects of World of Warcraft. If that's up your alley, stay a while and subscribe!

Brighter Shores is worth your time.
I've had a ton of fun with Brighter Shores, and if you like games with heavy grinding, or if you enjoyed RuneScape circa 2004-2007, then Brighter Shores is for you.

So this brutosaur mount is giving me strong vibes, but i don't know in which direction yet. Part of me hates it, probably the larger part, but another part of me sees the benefit of it. what do you think?

The title says it all. The War Within has been an awesome experience so far, and it really feels like a return to the World of Warcraft that I've been dreaming about and reminiscing about for so long. This makes me excited for what the future may hold for not only this expansion, but the expansions beyond in the Worldsoul Saga. Take care! For business inquiries: rotanwarcraft@gmail.com

World of Warcraft has a lot of abilities that are there just for fun, and those are the abilities I tend to be the most fond of, and want more of. So I wanted to cover a few of them, just to have fun and celebrate some of these great abilities and how they make me feel immersed in the world. Take care!

www.youtube.com/@madseasonshow I've noticed that as time has gone on, I have become disconnected from the smaller details in WoW. In this video, and the series I'll make from it, I am attempting to "stop and smell the roses", as it were. Let me know what small details in WoW you found that make you feel more connected and immersed. For business inquiries: rotanwarcraft@gmail.com
the real liminal spaces of WoW.
Переглядів 20 тис.6 місяців тому
I've seen a host of videos about World of Warcraft's "unreachable" or "unknown" or "secret" or "hidden" or "liminal" spaces, but they all show off the same places. And I have to admit, I'm guilty of showing off some of those too. I wanted to go further, I wanted to explore, and find that child-like wonder again. But I didn't know where to look at first, since I knew most every zone and instance...
i miss when WoW was just a game.

World of Warcraft used to just be a game to me, something to get lost in and wander around purposefully for fun, to enjoy myself. Nowadays I find myself more concerned with my or others' performance in raids, dungeons, and any facet of the game really. I'm experiencing a personally longing for the simpler days of exploration for the sake of seeing something new, not being rewarded extrinsically...

However, there are WAY more armor sets and weapons coming with the release of Pandamonium that we can view with datamining, but none of them are actually on the PTR to view. ALL New Mounts coming in Patch 10.2.5 and Their Known Sources - WoW Dragonflight
Remember when Alterac Valley first came out and the battles for the Valley were days long. Yep! You could leave and come back 2 days later and it was still the same fight!
This is why I don't feel bad having played RuneScape since 2004 and yet never getting beyond level 80 in any skill. And not having any cool builds or large wealth. I just played for the fun of it, mostly to socialize (as I was 9 when I started). I played WoW when Burning Crusade came out. And I only did the trial because I knew my parents wouldn't have paid for membership. That trial alone put me in hospital with an inability to walk due to potassium deficiency... and I still never maxed out to level 20 in that period despite being glued to the screen.
It got too big. Its like people who travel the whole life. Friends of mine want to visit all special places on earth. Each year they book stuff for about 15.000 euro. They live in a really small appartment, only work for their vacations. When they travel they book all they can to see as much as they can - sounds great? Here it is... They hate their work. They hate their home. They hate do have a day off without being able to do photos of new stuff. They miss life while they focus on getting their travel plan done. They dont meet new people because they dont last longer than a day, no matter where they are - and still they hate it to be alone. Its nit a "good that was so beautiful!" Its only a "good that we have been there already, meanwhile it got much more expensive. In wow it is the same i think. People meet up in discord to do the detective quest - two know the route and 30 people just join discord to follow them getting it done as fast as they can without opening a guide. Most people do areas just for the loremaster achievememt everytime - "good its done now, i hate questing!". They spend day by day on mythic raids, the same kind everytime, just to say "good its done, now we can clear it once a week and lower the days we have to do that". Old content - same story. Transmog runs or mounts bring people to do old stuff. When they got it its just a "Loooord... I dont have to go there anymore!" All the things that reward you in the game have the same issue. 10 world quests? Do a specific dungeon? ... yeah glad its over? I love my playstation now.
I had the same issue with the SWTOR storyline ever since Chapter 4. Especially when the introduced the Eternal Empire. The Stakes just kept getting bigger and bigger, but I just felt like they overreached too much. Now Snowrunner, there some great game expansion mechanics; the expansions aren't always harder. Its not the same kind of game yes, but its a good comparison for what they should be doing. I am pretty sure that I've played more hours of Snowrunner than I have SWTOR, and I've had a SWTOR account since the game launched in 2011.
He was never a game lol, it’s more than that since the begining
I definitely agree, but I would add that it's not just expectations of devs and stakeholders ruining the experience, but the player base itself. I also went back and played Classic, and SoD, and quickly the nostalgia and the peaceful, fun exploration was gone as more and more players tried to treat it like retail WoW and pushed us into oblivion, making everything about max DPS and clearing things as fast as possible. It was not an option to find a chill, easy group of players. They simply didn't exist. I was very bummed and stopped playing into the second phase. It very quickly turned into the worst kind of grind.
Sometimes when a quest annoys me, I simply follow PNJs thinking I'm part of theyr community, until they diseapear and leave me thinking "They're just PNJs made for adding life to the map, theyr not real, instead of me..."
We are of the same mind ♥
I strongly think that Guild Wars 2 is the game for you, especially after the latest expansions.
try lord of the rings online (lotro). it's what u are looking for!
Did you hear that? “I care about” you all can play the game for just fine but it’s because you all want to be first and get everything asap but you don’t NEED to just slow down and enjoy the game. It’s still that same game but YOUR want to rush through everything is your choice and that ruins it for you
Play indie games.
Closest I came to any of this is when me and a guildee snuck into an unfinished unreleased Silithus in 2005 by wall hopping in some spot in Ungoro, it was weird, eerie and vacant.
wow another great vid , your helping get back in
dude i so feel the same way and maybe me and you met up down in stanglethorn v and had it out as lvl 20 -30 somethings lol remember those days . im trying to get back in the game and this is the problem i run into lol but im thinking i have a solution , i got 4 kids now lol ya . well 2 of them are old enough to play 13 and 10 im think me my wife and kids can all play ya you heard it right my wife aswell she plays aswell and so if i get my kids back into it then i will get some of the nostalgia back the i had when first playing , like i can show them around and start low lvls and you know where im going with this lol , anyways ya ty for the vid
When i first started playing warcraft 3 frozen throne i was just a little kid, plus im from the balkans so i never knew of world of warcraft, so i started playing it later i think it was 2014, at that time i was 11, but i seriously started playing later like 2018, im not that big wow fan anymore but i gotta say that wow was the greatest game that was ever created, biggest boom in the gaming history, it was new, innovative...
I know the feeling. When I first played, I just got a kick out of the immersion and exploration of a lived in world. Skyrim serves the same purpose now. Games like WOW and Diablo are theme parks where you chase after shiny trinkets.
Priests get levitate which is BOTH water walking and slow fall at the same time!
You can still walk into a random building and talk with your friends about life. Only dead fish follow the stream.
Buy a starter ship in Star Citizen and sandbox to your heart's content across multiple planets.
Good old time. ❤
Play Wow Vanilla! or Vanilla HC . New servers up!
It’s all about numbers and money instead of fun for most game developers these days 🤑🤑🤑
Every single entertainment thing is so optimized and commercialized that it lost its soul. No matter what you get into, as soon as it hits the mainstream media, they destroy it.
Heh, great video. I played since about 2 weeks after launch. Remember Barren's chat? Chuck Norris jokes going crazy while trying to get 40 gold for you first mount. The level 60 Paladin behind every rock in the barrens. Those were the gaming days. Straight fun and wonder.
You're not alone and I too am not quitting - purely because of the amount of time played and money spent in this game. I've been playing from 2007, right when Brewfest was kicking off and that olympic event that rewarded us with the tabard and pet, depending on what dropped into your mailbox. I never bought Shadowlands and I've been buying the limited edition copies since Cataclysm but that's because I went back to education. So I couldn't find the time to play - apart from that one time 2022-2023 during the winterfest and new years events and dropped in for screenshots for an essay I was writing on Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Hey if Bobby is reading, yes I get it as well. You need to keep the stakeholders happy of course and I'm also not saying get rid of the track to the end of the content - but what about the stuff in between? Maybe read the Blue Ocean Theory and be that Blue Ocean product that keeps some regulars coming back, just to hang out with friends. Maybe the drop rate is too high for things and I know that annoyed us back in the day having to farm up 100's of sunclaw feathers in the Barrens, but we had fun doing it and met some people along the way. I still have friends who I've never met in person, whom I met in Azeroth but nowadays it seems you don't get that anymore. I used to yell for someone to come and help as you really couldn't solo much - especially that flipping gnoll just outside of Stormwind in between Elwynn Forest and Westfall named Hogger. We always had people shouting for help in Westfall. It was challenging, it was fun and where I found my first companion pet (which stayed in my bag) - A tabby cat in Elwynn Forest as I played both Alliance and Horde at the time. I'm excited to start adventuring again in classic wow.
I loved the old days. When you did dungeon you took your time and talked to each other. Who sheep who stun what way should we go. It took time but when you finally had mastered it it felt great. No in retail it takes some minutes and even if I have done a dungeon several times I actually have no idea how it actually looks like and the bosses name or tactics. It's just bam and I try to heal all in a hysterical fast run. It gives me no good feeling of accomplishment when I'm done. I have now 2 chars lvl 80 gs over 600 and now I think I go back to classic again
no you just want to farm views and try to make a career out of complaining like Asmongold so many copycats jesus
I still remember the first time leveling my druid, way back in 2007. I remember walking into the spider cave in the starting zone shortly after just being born. I ran out scream and wouldn't go back into the cave until someone was willing to group with me. It was terrifying. Massive spiders, creepy webs everywhere. Even in a starting zone, it was hard and scary. I remember the first time I went to Darnassus. I was in awe of everything. I saw other players running from here to there on their battle cats, I wanted one so bad! I saw players fishing and talking about the weather like a bunch of actual old men would do. I saw huge talking trees walking around, the whole world felt more magical than anything I had ever seen before. Now... the magic is gone. The only time if ever feels "new" is when a new expansion comes out, but then you are rushed through it so fast by week 3 you already are bored. When DF came out was the first time in a long time I actually enjoyed the game, the questing and lore and the throwbacks to old characters. But, my friends left me behind. I was made to feel like a was dead weight, I had to be carried through M+'s because I didnt' do all the things the moment they came out, I wasn't highest ilvl, I wasn't top gear, I wasn't up to date on the talent changes. The old player is no longer wanted by these rat-race crazed players nor Blizzard. When we watched BlizzCon, and watched Chris Metzen on stage look directly at the camera and say "It's time. It is time, to come home." I legit was crying. Because for so long Azeroth wasn't "home" anymore.. I wanted to feel like Blizzard cared about us old players again. And for a few short months I did. But as always, the same Rat-Race takes over and we get left behind.
Its not just the game, its life itself
Wow, thank you! You nailed it dead on!!
Well.. yeah its about games just being a game. However it was just a different philosophy back then in general. If modern wow can be compared to anything it would be a themepark. Big neat things you wait in line to go do once a week to get your weekly upgrades. There isn't any purpose to just existing in modern wow, you need to be "doing something". If you look at older MMOs like star wars galaxies. There was a game that had no purpose when it came out. The missions were all just random ones given to you via a terminal and yeah there were some quests but really it gave you nothing to work with but the progression system and the various planets. You were left to your own designs of how to make it fun. I mean hell that game had an entire class whos purpose was to never leave town, but to stay in a cantina and to literally entertain people who came in. It would give them buffs and cure their wounds but the class itself had no hotkeys to press. You either played music or you danced and that process was basically entirely automated. So all there was to do was to just talk to people as they came to you. I remember spending hours in our player city cantina just talking to our entertainers who never left the place. They just don't make em like the used to is the best way to describe it. Your modern gamer doesnt have the patience for it. Well they do but the developers know the vast majority dont. These days its all about the 30 second loops and replicating it many times over as long as you possibly can to keep the player involved.
Blizzard needs to remember that it’s World of Warcraft not Instanced Dungeons and Raids of Warcraft
The solution is get rid of dungeon finder. That's what killed wow for me back in the day. You used to have to travel, hang out in major cities to build groups. Dungeon finder ruined everything.
I picked an RP server back in 2010, it’s kinda dead but it’s a nice calm world.
Blizzards woke ideologies that they push into their games is what finally ruined Blizzard games for me
My best memory was getting on the zep with my mage outside Og early one weekday morning. Then i would go invis, wait for a low level Horde to get on, then gank him and jump off right before they left. They arrived at their destination dead and i laughed. Did this for an hour before a hunter came and killed me. It was great. Also, doing a naked gnome run in my guild from the dwarf cap city to booty bay. Took an hour. It was awesome
Words hit right at home, it was a beautiful era.
If they can sell you high stress, then they can sell you a solution... for a price. Ie...$90 mounts for high functioning people that can throw down $90 for a gathering of pixels. Whatever Blizzard has to do to make money, they will prod the market and test it constantly for ways to use humam psychology to be predatory in regards to Microtransactions. Drop these games. I unsubbed as soon as the $90 mount waa announced. I will not be going back.
Have you ever tried Kenshi? Everything you describe here can be found in Kenshi and I think you will be very happy in this game :)
I just started WoW again after like an 17 year break. Then I switched to classic and it's much more enjoyable
I loved WOW. Sadly, it got to the point where I would buy expansions and feeling left behind or not keeping up. I can relate to hanging out in Thunder Bluff for the sights and music or Running around Mulgore looking for Arra'chea on my hunter and the excitement when I found him, looking around fast so I wouldn't lose the kill. Stalking the New Hunter Pet that just came out. Every quest and map had to be "filled in" completed before I could move on. So much fun. Really miss that.
I have never played a game any other way other than no UA-cam, no discord or guides. You should min max your irl life, not a game… you play for fun
So I played wow from vanilla all the way to BFA. I quit wow because I wanted to focus on better things, which I did. Then this expansion came out the war within, and wanted to give it a try. I have to say, when I logged back in just a month and a half ago, it was definitely overwhelming, so much has changed! Honestly it was giving me anxiety, in a game should not be doing that. I gave it some more time and figured things out, and then playing and leveling up my alts, but of course making sure my main is up to code. Again I've been feeling very overwhelmed, because there is so much to do, again I know that I haven't played to expansions and there are many things I have not collected or seen. Playing wow now to me, it's almost too much. I'm actually not even having fun, and I know that you play the game as you want. Honestly anymore I just want to run older raids, collect xmog/mounts and gold farm for myself. I just think that wow right now has way too many things going on (I'm not saying fully that's a bad thing), but it's got me being pulled left and right all the time. I hate it.
3:20 Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial land tank outside Rubicon. He's well protected. But with the right team we can punch through their defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.
My best memory of wow was seeing garosh fall over dead after 6 wipes and over 5 hours in the raid. I also won the roll on the scorpion mount the same night! My shaman (the character i did this on) still wears the same mog all these years later) I’m still in the same guild aswell.
Dragonflight has been the worst xp by far
You can recast Eagle Eye. You just have to make a macro for it.
As a dude that played from 2006 and my wife since dragonflight I really just enjoy showing her around old zones and doing some really basic quests and using ground mounts to travel
As a roleplayer (no not that kind) i can completely understand you. I just wished the world of retail would feel more alive outside of the 1 main playerhub
