Ok so we come from a similar background ... love me the 40k lore, love me the 40k vidya, never really dabbled in the tabletop that much. But before I go on I have only one point of contention - Space marines do / do not have junk ... eh its contentious and never really elaborated on so its a gray area that cannot be established with certainty. So your comment on that topic (like with anything in 40k really) has a 50% chance of being wrong. On the main topic of female Custodes : 40k lore is always vague and muddied. Like a retelling of a retelling of a story. A game of telephones that has gone on forty thousand years. The many talented writers that flesh out the lore of the universe have on many occasions said as much. The prevailing opinion on this vagueness is so that there is room for the fans to create their own stories and for GW to tweak things as the franchise evolves and grows. The term "retcon" is very despised in 40k circles but this is an excellent tool... its like a get out of jail free card that saves you from painting your self in to a lore corner. And it has been used on many occasions to great effect (eg Squats being a thing then not and then coming back again). However what many of the genuine advocates for Female Custodes that use this "The lore is vague in 40k" argument do not understand is that this vagueness is only in certain obscure corners of the narrative, and even then it is only along certain narrative threads. Threads that make sense to be obscured. The narrative threads include: *Where* *When* *How* *Who* *Why* In 40k in particular the narrative threads that are muddled and obscured are typically the When - since dates and time tracking is a mess. Due to bureaucracy, lack of / lost technology etc. A date in 40k is a suggestion. Even the order of events cannot be discerned with certainty. Where / How - only fucked with if were talking about Emperor origin stories. You can ignore that. When - always fucked with, never trust. Why - only fucked with when dealing with Chaos gods and their motivations. But the Who ... is rarely if ever messed with. (outside of Emperor origin stories ofc, but even then there are limitations) So when we or anyone else talks about gaps in lore - there are uncertainties and there are things that perfectly clear. And unfortunately for the genuine advocates of "femstodes" the *golden brotherhood* is all but set in stone. Like the sisters of battle to the space marines and the sisters of silence to the custodes - there are mirrors and equivalents where ever they may be needed. And also Sisters of battle figurines sell like hot cakes... As a matter of fact when the nun faction was introduced in 1993 in the codex Imperialis and then made a full playable faction in 2nd edition - noone cared, they liked it actually - because it was done by introducing something new and not by changing something familiar. The exact same thing happened with the sisters of silence. They were well received too. Now with all of that being said, we can finally get to the core of the issue: There never have been female custodes no matter what the editor of the fandom Wiki tells you - SORRY! Your best bet to narratively add some that would make sense is to recruit new ones somehow ™. Since The originals were made by the Emperor personally you would need to weave one hell of a narrative for that to happen seeing as how he is on the Golden Throne just resting at the moment but is otherwise perfectly fine. Are all factions in 40k evil with different flavors - yes I agree with that. Its part of what makes the franchise so unique and fun. But I see no way that a company in the current day would try to spin DEI and female inclusion in an evil way. I just dont see that happening. CEOs are the most cowardly form of human that exists today. It just aint happening... no matter how many elections Trump wins. So a mocking jab / joke Femstodes run is out of the question. But that is not all... there is another problem with the DEI in 40k and Evil and *Not taking responsibility* argument that you pose. That has already been done in one of the most effective ways I have ever seen in any form of media. It was done with a character named *Erebus*. His story is truly one that you must look in to (WesHammer has a good video on Erebus). GW shows us through this character who didnt earn the power armor he wears, who lies cheats, steals and betrays for power all without ever facing justice or taking responsibility for his actions... that these are things to be despised. And that message is antithetical to all things DEI. Your last and final argument for this is the one I agree with honestly ... the "Rip off the band aid" argument of *just do it*. GW already sold their soul for an Amazon tv show that will last 2 seasons and get will get shit on by the entire Friday Night tights crew, so you might as well give Jeff the woman in power armor like he asked for and then walk it back once the miniature sales drop by 55%. Just get it over with. Then pickup the pieces, pray that what few fans you have left forgive you and try to forget the whole ordeal. Finally Ill say this: Its verry sad, and quite ironic that people who genuinely advocate for female space marines and Custodes do not understand that this gatekeeping is not coming from a bad place. Its most certainly not a "girls are weak and cant be SM or Cs" argument. No. Power armor clad bolter wielding Sisters and Blank field SoS anti Psykers have proven that. Its about Lore integrity. Its out of love for this fantasy world. Integrity without which - 40k simply would not exist. If you add female custodes then you might as well make the Empress a black female trans woman of color too and also end the war on Xenos because its an analogy for prejudice and Orcs are black people like in LOTR and Erebus is a beloved hero and then you have no more 40k. i feel like the title is more of a dislike bait than anything else, so your stance is that either GW should actually strive to please its fans OR that it should go full hog into DIE in an admittedly lore friendly "Let the Galaxy Burn" move that will lead to either the company or the IP burning, whether burning down or not would be up to fate honestly fair take that will get tanked by the previously mentioned title, GW going full steam ahead into DEI would at least be something that we can easily point at for the benefit of people who lack basic pattern recognition and think that female custodians are totally cool because someone on twitter said so (anyone remembers when they called DEI, DIE? changed relatively quickly lol, it was a fitting acronym)

it does seem like the game is nearing its death,player count is confusing,some sites say they have 5 million subs yet a player base of 140.000-200.000 that doesnt sound like 5 million subs. another side says 200.000 players yet there charts says they had a plummet in december from 300.000 players to 50.000 starting this year,so am confused. but it does seem like eso is dying sadly,i was gonna play ti and resub but with these low numbers i dont wanna be disappointed with putting in the work just to have it shut down soon in my oppinion they should have done allot more on expanding classes,give mages more deadra and fuse arcanist with the mage not make it a sepperate class. improve in vampire visual combat skills and change mist form so that you dont turn into mist but on a dodge you become mist and then turn back,implement passives abit more into combat have a bit neck combat ability that heals health next to the drain live,and make werwolves look abit more wolf like in human form,i kind of miss all that. vampire claws are to much like a dull red fist visual instead of a clear 3-4 red claw marks visual,they barely did annything with classes in all this time. and then there are the redicules shop prices,i mean i love the eso world and most of the game but these are things that do annoi me. i am unshure if i should play it atm,from one side i want to but from another the game has to have a future otherwize not much point in playing.

I solo. WoW taught me hard lessons about the mindset of 'hard core' gamers aka mostly 🤍family and friends that ruin these opportunities to globally bring players together. I'm an aerospace engineer and not a brogrammer. If ESO goes bust because the WoW MMO culture overtakes any MMO that offers unique content and moves away from endless exclusion and hyper competitive 'friends and family' guild dysfunctional raiding dynamics, so be it. Fix the game. Fix the gaming culture. You 'guys' are so to blame too and I've run with world class gamers. The next generation of gaming will hopefully allow AI to expand raiding so that folk that are 'friends and family' across the world can game minus these raid-centric, pseudo elitist whinefests that lead to neverending 'discord'. 🎉🎉🎉

Yep, sad to see. This is the first game I'm in since the beginning, but also cancelled subs due to piling on of bs. The housing whales can keep the game alive for years, so there's that. Worst thing for me atm is that there is no other game to go to. The new mmos coming out that even come close are all pvp and the pve ones all look like they were made for 5 year olds. Here's to hoping someone with their head not shoved up their arse gives us a new decent mmo in the near future.

What I have seen in the conflict with NefasQS has been decidedly one-sided. He seems like a nice kid. I think he has learned that content creators are not the base and that many viewers are not interested in the personality delivering the information and he has moved on. I wish him the best as he builds a new viewer base now that he is older and wiser. I am sorry that you have become so emotionally invested. Zenimax has data at their fingertips to tell them what their base is interested in and the endgamers are not the majority of players. Personally, I have friends who have been here from the beginning and before as well as noobs because we have bonded by playing casually. For the most part, I see a bigger schism between people who view ESO as their business and those who view it as a game. I hope you can resolve your anger and can find a game that you can enjoy. Update 45 looks great, eh? Cant wait! What are you guys complaining about? Nefas? The guys an emotional gossip and hasnt been relevant in years. Check for yourself. He hasnt put out anything good in YEARS. No builds, no help, no teaching, no information, nothing positive. Its been nothing but whining and gossip for years now. He put himself out of his misery and finally gave me a reason to unsubscribe. And this isnt even his firat time quitting. To add to the Tails of Tribute on release. Not only was it a bad timing for a mini game unrelated to the main game to be added but even if u game it a chance if u pay attention to the rules and watch the NPC players they will 100% break their own rules. That said after the 1st week I haven't looked back so its hopefully been fixed. It was 1 of the more infuriating additions to the game in my personal opinion. Games cheating to beat a player is 1 of the most infuriating things a game can do regardless if it's a bug or not

Kinda amazing how many videos like this out there. I have seen videos on why Ashes of Creation sucks, WoW sucks, ESO sucks, Throne and Liberty sucks, Guild Wars 2 sucks and FFXIV sucks. What i get from all this is dont wed yourself to a game. I have 7000 hours in ESO, 4200 hours in GW2, 2500 hours in FFXIV, and 2400 hours in WoW. I made close friends in all of them, I have problems with all of them to some degree but I take it as just a game at the end of the day. What is funny is one person leaves WoW and goes to FFXIV and is like this is awesome, or an ESO gamer goes to GW2 and says wow GW2 is so much better, and a GW2 gamer goes to ESO and days ESO is so much better.

ESO, rest in pieces, or in piss, idk. they had gold in their hands, I can't believe this game turned out to become so bad. Killing this game was in my opinion a blessing, they gave us a good reason to stop spending money and time for our own good.

I could have sworn at some point a comment was made to some degree that “yes our devs play the game, and that they are capable of doing things such as God Slayer without champion points, as they do these types of challenging content like this all the time”. It's not ESO alone. People are leaving their MMOs left and right. Gaming novadays is not about gamers, It's about money and politics. And in a lot of cases the money doesn't even comes from gamers any more. Big companies are spending money on studios to push their agenda and their messages. So we are reaching the point were "the gamer" isn't needed any more. We are leaving? They don't care. And Indie won't save us... It will go the same way

I started playing in early beta (Feb 2013) is the date I remember. I got a lot of fond memories of ESO, lots of great friends, met my wife via and so on. I felt the first sign the gaming was going downhill was the convert to Buy 2 Play. The yearly chapters also felt like another one. I did get Morrow Wind and Summer Set Isles but by the point more more came out I had stopped playing. The game felt too easy in everything until it was extremely hard (trials, etc.) I don't have the time to dedicate get super good at the trials, I did have a decent guild (they had first clear of vMoL Hard Mode) PvP was fun but always laggy and it got to be like trials that everyone min/maxed to the point if you didn't do that it wasn't very fun. After I stopped playing seriously (played on all characters was 13k hours and I have deleted a couple of VR characters prior to the convert to CP) I was just selling stuff by clearing out my craft bag. I have been doing that for 4 years now with no end in sight but I stopped logging in about 3 months ago. My wife said it and I agree, the game has not done any fundamental shakeups in so long. The combat is basically the same as when we started playing beta except they have done a lot of skill changes. Many of the bugs we complained about are still present. I've heard that Cryodil is better after they upgraded hardware. Balance-wise I think that disappeared when they realized that adding new gear sets into pay content would "shake up the meta" and they could profit. I don't regret playing ESO but I'm done with it.
