I have a great interest in video technologies for ever since I can remember.
I have been working in the television production and broadcasting industry for over 30 years as senior video editor, cameraman and director.
My greatest hobby and passion is to preserve and collect video and broadcast tv equipments especially of the 80s and 90s.
Of course, it is not easy to keep them working all the time, but I try my best. By the way, I would like to share some of my collections with you in the future and hope to meet video enthusiasts all over the world through this channel.

When I turn on my vcr (Sony SL-T30ME), the drum and left reel motor starts to spin. There is no tape inside and it does not accept tape to load. At this time, no any buttons work, only way to stop vcr is to push power on/off button 5-7 secs. Tape is not unthreading proparly. The guides need to be push a little bit then unthreading process starts. Any help would be appriciated! Thanks.

HELP // My SONY Betamax SL-F30PS is broken. Any help would be most appreciated... 1) Recorder does not get the tape inside. 2) Even though there is no tape inside, it acts as if there is a tape in it. 3) Recorder plays, rewind and forward as if there is a loaded tape. 4) When I push the Eject button, tape tries to unload the tape as if it is inside, but it can not. 5) All the tape travel mechan...
It's not the hall-effect sensor that's causing this fault. You may have a syscon error or threading/unthreading switches that are not activating. Also the fact the display shows a "U" in place of the channel number is suspecious.

Das ist ein Fehler der gelegentlich mal vorkommt. Aber ein schöner weißer SL-F30 , mir fehlt nur noch der rote in meiner Sammlung 😄
I came across with this vcr in a shop by chance and bought it immediately. I'm also looking for a red one. :)
I think the video head is inside and the video mechanics are in the video playback mode now. So press the tape eject button and help the mechanical parts to come out to the normal position with your hand. Then insert the tape again

Thanks for your comment and help, I detected the fault, the little gear under the loading motor shaft is broken. Now I'm trying to find a new spare to replace it.
