Best batery relocation ever 🤣👍
The funny thing is...I want to move it back there.
What motor mounts did you use?
I made both sides out of 1/4" plate, welded c channel to them, then used 2nd gen 6bt bushings.
What transmission and transfercase did you end up using?
An NV4500 and a 241 from a second gen ram.
I dig the sound of that!
Transmission and transfer case connection to Cummins 3.9 bolt on ?
Yes, with a common rail flywheel housing.
You built the essence of what a modern jeep should be and how they should come from the factory. It's sad (like most things) that you can build a HEAVIER jeep, with more reliability and double the fuel economy, but is frowned upon because it (4bt) doesn't meet some bull-sh|t emissions. Bravo! Hoping to see more videos, but I think we all understand how life and priorities change :)
I want to see it when it's finished.
It's been pretty well finished for the last two years. Life's been busy but I plan on doing a follow up video on it soon hopefully. Probably some wheeling videos also.
I adore that sound, great man It is an amazing motor...
Hey man what year is that motor that your using?
92
are you still alive?
Oh hello. Yes, I'm still here.
Which gearbox are you running ?
NV4500 from a 95 dodge ram.
What did you take the axles from? Dodge 1 ton?
99 Ford F350 super duty.
Awesome! Is there any reason you didn't modify OEM dash?
That was the original plan, but as soon as I got the plastic off, I changed my mind. There's an aluminum sub structure that would have interfered with what I wanted to do.
This is like gold! My dream is to eventually Cummins swap my 08 jku
I want this in my 98 zj
How good is the fuel mileage?
About 20-25mpg on the highway. It's geared deep though, and it's on 40s.
I fixed up a 1969 CJ5 and I will be starting to fix my 1961 Willy’s Kaiser Wagon this spring. Love your truck. I plan to get an original truck eventually.
Good luck with everything!
I thought this project died. Haha. I figured a female came along and killed it. Glad to see it finished.
... That kinda happened haha. It's pretty well done now though. I have since moved to another state and I should be putting out videos of it in use next spring.
@@MrACV24 ha! I fucking knew it. Damn. Well I'm glad for you brother. Can't wait to see your new vids. What state you move to?
@@77AbleArcher South Dakota, to the black hills.
Man your 4bt sounds great!
Thanks bud!
Just in case you need to pull your house down..
Precisely!
love your approach of improvising to make the test drive work(jumper cables ). weve all been there haha . sounds awesome , id love to own a cummins powered jeep
Thanks! Not shown on camera is the mechanics wire/ 32oz bottle zip tied to my coil tower for diesel... it was a bit of a mess then.
@@MrACV24 hey as long as it cranked and drove, thats what count. its so nerve wracking.. congrats on the build though!
@@simonsaysr1994 Thanks!
...great sound...Jeeps were meant to have four cylinders...and the 4BT is the best one for the job...
beautiful. i hope to be doing this in my cj6 soon.
hey, I got the same engine in 07 wranglers, could you please tell me how to set up the breaks? the guy who built it went with a mechanical pump mounted above the VE pump. I want to put the AC instead of the vacuum pump. I want to install the vacuum pump and hook it up to the electric vacuum pump but I am not sure which one to get. so i was wondering how your breaks are set up. Thank you
I used a power steering pump from a 6bt, hooked the vacuum from that to my stock brake booster. From my master cylinder, I had custom lines done to a propositioning valve, and then to the brakes.
WHAT!? Lol hahaha love this engine.
Mate your 4bt sounds purrrrrrrrfect. Great job!
Sounds really nice. But what's with all the bloody coasting around in neutral or with your foot on the clutch. Drive it.
Thanks haha... at this point in the build the suspension was very unstable, tires unbalanced, bolts snugged, terrible joints, and I had a nasty brake leak. I rod on her now, rest assured.
MrACV24 Ahh, ok. That makes more sense as to why it was how it was then! :-). Where's a video of her all done now? Very curious to see everything now. Nice sounding though. I bloody love diesels.
@@myronhorvathsk I'm done with everything that's needs to be done to drive it, except hooking my heat exchanger to the heater core lines. I go through stints of working on it for about a month then leave it alone for 3. Life has also been very very busy and I'm moving soon to a location that is much more conducive to off road. I might spring the channel back to life then, or at least give everyone that wants to know, an ending of sorts.
What bumper and stinger do you have
Rugged Ridge stubby bumper/ stinger.
My 4bt jk on tons is getting close to being driveable too, man I can't wait!
Hell yea, enjoy!
This makes me wanna get that new r2.8 crate engine. Basically the same weight as the v6 and has more torque and better mpg
Offroad Addict Hell yea bud, do it up.
@@MrACV24 I have saved this video so I could come back to it. I told you about the r2.8 but found out it is a cheap chinese peice of crap with a lot of computers. I have found a cummins 4bt and I am looking to snag it. I have a 2011 wrangler 2dr with the nsg370 6 spd. I wanted to know if this engine will fit in my jeep without major modifications. I have the one ton axels taken care of but would love to know if I have to cut up my ride to fit this thing in here. Any info would be much appreciated!
@@haydona1845 Hey, sorry, just saw this comment! I didn't have to modify the frame or any of my body to get it to fit. I did however ditch everything in the engine bay and started from scratch. That was just my take on it though.
@@MrACV24 Awesome! Yeah the guy had just sold it when I called him about 2 weeks ago. Thanks for the info though! Definitely makes me happy that I wont have to cut anything up
@@haydona1845 Were you looking at an adapter/motor mounts from a kit to get the engine in there?
So this is what happened to Steve Bartman.
brickit26 baaaahahaha fuck the cubs!
MrACV24 I f-in hate the cubs too!
Update please?
Alex Benford I know I've said it a lot, legitimately, there will be one soon.
Dual pick up in bottom of fuel cell behind rear seat. Electric girl pump is still below fuel cell when issue occurs. I think the issue is inside my VE pump. That is pretty much exactly what teraflex sells for as hand throttle
Here is mine in action finally!! ua-cam.com/video/w021ZcVcX8Q/v-deo.html
John Sherwin Hell yea, sounds great!
MrACV24 The main improvement needed is a high idle cable I can operate with my hands on the shifter. For some reason when I do lots of hill climbs the idle drops with the nose up and it can stall. I'm not sure what would cause that. This will be my fix for now. www.summitracing.com/parts/tmi-4870400?seid=srese1&cm_mmc=pla-google-_-shopping-_-srese1-_-teraflex&gclid=Cj0KCQjwuMrXBRC_ARIsALWZrIj9f7zuI_Rsls7-ku8QetflqO-MbY_hMBDcELT6sZK5C_NvY6qZvAgaAuaDEALw_wcB
John Sherwin That's interesting, where's your fuel pick up located? I picked up a bicycle friction shifter as a hand throttle.
Nice placement on the battery, I’m stealing that idea!
Justin Trudeau I'm fine with that, are you going to use the ole jumper cable over the windshield trick too?
Nice lol yea I just blow up the stock motor so I wanna swap it to a 4bt and diesel don't have emissions either here
I'm looking to put a 4bt in my jku I need advise if I can from you?
Smitty's Garage What are you needing to know?
MrACV24 like what motor mounts what trans and transfer case did u use and how did u go about the wiring?
Check out video 4 for more info on the drive line. The motor mounts were custom and so is the wiring. I gutted everything then started over instead of trying to figure out how to make the oem wiring work.
Ok cool and is it street legal? I'm trying to keep mine street legal.
It will be, I've been a lazy pile and it's taken forever to get the wiring done. I'm legitimately almost done with the wiring though and there'll be a follow up video soon. I don't have emissions to worry about and my state is pretty lax on it's vehicle laws, things you'd need to consider.
very poor filming, almost useless. Great build tho.
x111 x111 cool
why the hell this jeep jku with diesel has fucking manual shit transmission ??!!
x111 x111 ?
Jeep update?
77AbleArcher soon, catching up on life.
Why haven`t u use a CRD JK Airbox?
Matt Mattsen I'll have to look into that. Is it smaller, or the output is oriented differently?
When r we going to see a update on this?
Travis Holcomb Soonish.
You sir have massive skills and great creativity! You deffinatly diserve that beast of a rig! From A Canadian Jeeper
The Crazy Canuck Thank you very much!
Need to move the battery tray, har:) Lots of fun for sure!!
JohnBoyDeere naaaaw it's perfect!
Great work and lots of it too! Did a Mercedes conversion myself. I bet you get lots of on the street questions too, especially when fill'n it up at the diesel pump :)
JohnBoyDeere Thank you! Honestly I haven't had it out much. I was driving it without lights hooked up so I had to bring it back in to finish the rest of it. I haven't had a lot of time for it recently but it's about done.
Wonderful machine.
John Stafford Thanks, I appreciate it!
Did you have to notch the front truss? I saw another guys build who couldnt use the superduty with artecs truss without notching it because of the oil pan and diff. Any issues there? Thought about just going with prebuilt 44s as Ill never go hard crawling or bigger than a 36.
Justin Countey Was it on a jk?
MrACV24 2009 JKU
Justin Countey Interesting...what's the title of the video? I can see if he had a different situation than mine, I didn't have to notch my truss.
MrACV24 its Drake Winn on facebook. I stumbled across his old for sale ad when searching "4bt jk" in public posts. Trying to find others who have brought forth as much knowledge as you with the build!
Justin Countey I looked him up, couldn't tell from any pictures what may have caused his problem though. If I were to speculate, I would say front sump pan, too low of motor mounts and/or not enough lift. I had a 3.5 rock krawler lift without any issues of that kind.
excellent video
Johnny Steward Thanks!
I've got an 08 JK, I want to get the 4BT one day in it. Sounds amazing
Juno Wilson Thanks!
Do have any upcoming videos?
Michael Streete Yes I do, I've just been busy with work and enjoying the summer. You'll see an update soon!
This is the way a REAL WILLYS JEEP is supposed to be, either a 4 Cylinder, or Straight 6 Cylinder Engine, with either a 3 or 4 Speed Manual Transmission, NONE OF THAT SOUPED UP V8 ENGINE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CRAP that just completely RUINS the idea of a REAL CLASSIC WILLYS JEEP PICKUP !!!!!!
garthks agreed!
