The whole eastern side of the state is completely desert, matter a fact, most of the state is desert, only everything west of the cascades is actually forest, in the deserts it drops down to 4 inches of rain a year, and gets up to 100-110 degrees maximum average in the summer, it’s actually drier than Los Angeles, and about the same as Las Vegas

Well, I think I0 understand why she uses the word 'controversial'. Unfortunately some people are so opinionated that others are almost scared to say something that deviates from what the backpacking gurus say.

I definitely do not sleep well due both to the change in schedule and the absence of my wife. I've even been known to pull my backpack next to me just so something will be there like it's supposed to be. It works, too.
