No

I've been driving for twenty-nine years and I would not recommend driving a truck to anyone. It's simply not worth all the headaches and frustration. Nor is it worth the stomach pains and possible ulcers. Too many falsely believe they will be all by themselves while enjoying a life of peaceful solitude if they get their CDL and start driving over the road. Trust me when I tell you that you would have more time to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of quiet solitude if you worked a forty hour a week job. I have literally seen thousands who have lost to this industry for one reason or another and many who had a families. They threw it all away over a false belief and wishful thinking. And forget about all the talk one hears how truck drivers are able to see a lot. Anyone with any amount of age and common sense should realize that almost everything that is worth seeing and enjoying in America is well off the interstates. They are where semi trucks cannot go and cannot park.. So forget about that old saying. But if you are stubborn and not old enough to take the advice of your elders and decide to drive a truck for a so-called living then be prepared to work around thousands of people every day for the rest of your miserable life. When you do have a day off be prepared to be laughed at behind your back by dispatchers who bet and believe they can just make a phone call and get someone as stupid as they believe you are to cut your day off short and come back to work. If you do then they will definitely be laughing at you. This is not to imply that all dispatchers are like this, but many of them are. Then there are the constant telephone calls all during the day and all throughout the nights by brokers who can care less about you. They are only thinking about getting their commission. Then every so often you'll have to bring the truck to the company's shop to have the regular routine maintenance done on it. That's when the mechanics and perhaps an office staff or two will go through your luggage. If you have any mail that you have opened then you can be assured that the contents will be taken out and looked over. Curiosity and lack of respect. I've seen it happen and one would be surprised just how often that does happen. Especially if the company has a high turnover rate. Your best bet is to find a forty hour a week job that you like and get all this trucking foolishness out of your mind. It simply isn't worth it. If you're a Christian then you won't be for long. Anyone who can drive a truck and remain an obedient and well disciplined Christian then more power to them. They must work for a company where the drivers aren't harassed and bothered by constant and needless telephone calls all during the day and night. I was raised up in church and have strong religious beliefs, but have given up on fighting the inevitable. It's simply not worth it. After the two or three thousandth telephone call and putting up with other people's speculations you'll understand. You'll get to the age in your life where it's just not worth even trying. You'll ask yourselves why are you getting all these phone calls and why are supposedly intelligent human beings talking about what they know absolutely nothing about? Your only choice is simply give up on trying and hope you live long enough to retire. Which in my case is six more years. If you're fortunate enough to have a loving wife, which is what this industry needs more of, then good luck with your marriage. You'll only see your wife twenty-six times a year and less than forty-eight hours each time. The rest of the year she and her children will be eating dinners and going to bed alone. She and her children also have needs that you will not be able to provide. After a while she will have to decide on what is best for her and her children. But if you do wish to pursue a career in the trucking industry then find yourself a company that has dedicated routes. This will reduce the annoying and harassing phone calls by ninety-five percent and along with it all the headaches and stomach pains. One may ask why don't the brokers just communicate with your dispatchers? Dispatchers don't like dealing with brokers anymore than the drivers do. Just find a company that has dedicated routes and leave the headaches to the lesser fortunate drivers. Leave the restaurants alone and buy groceries like you remember your mother buying when you were being raised. There was a simple common sense reason why she bought groceries instead of eating in restaurants every day. The choice is yours. Don't blame anyone for your mistakes and bad decisions. If you're old enough to drive a truck then you're old enough to accept the advice of those who are older and have been there.
requires too much experience they need and insurance companies look at everything on your record even credit
There's No!!!! Nope cap such as 2.55 per mile the Lowest that they, can move any load that should be a Law.
This is my new phone ring tone now!😂
Its a Start❤
Yes it is worth it
Did it for 9 years all I found was postoffice. That's it. Every else is junk
I will never get those 15 seconds of my life back 😖
I think it is even thought it’s long hours and lots of driving it’s the best job I could ask for.
You all did great. maybe shift some gears next time.
You can make twice as much traveling pipe welding with no headache of equipment break downs or dealing with shippers and receivers
How can ı do it?
I cleared 115k last year its worth it 💯
Love to hear it!
Which kind of truck do u drive bro? Oversized? Or hazardous liquid? Or cars?
Food water paper towels
If you wanna be home daily find a good fuel hauling company get your hazmat and tanker X learn about the company. Learn through a company that don’t really pay a lot. Get your experience.
Hi
I made 90k last year and paid 16k in back taxes it’s not worth it as a single man
So you profited 70k damn near and wasn’t worth it? Genuine question
I want to get mines and people say me being single no kids is one best reasons I should do
No
F noooooo
If you like low pay, Long hours away from home, and rude chp sure why not
People making the dumbest videos anymore
I've been a truck driver for 11 years now. Its never been worth it. I'm learning web development now. It's time to leave while i'm still relatively young. Hauling construction materials and being a garbage man is hell on the body.
Thank you for your service
Don’t bother with web dev either. I went to a top school and did a coding bootcamp and after two years of studying got nothing. Employers only want a CS degree
@@doug282 You ain't lying. I stopped studying last month when I saw thousands of web dev guys get axed by their companies, including some of my friends and relatives. Web development is going through the same boom/bust cycle trucking is going through. The parallels between the two industries is uncanny.
Ignore anyone who says it’s a bad job yet they are still doing it. A bad job is something you leave immediately, no excuses. If they’re still there it’s good. Some are just trying to keep others out
Not really. They are waiting or working on something till they can rely in that and quit trucking all together. How you can quit if you don’t have option b? There are a lot of factors in play
@@KN-mi7mh doubt it. I’ve been to plenty jobs where the majority complained they hated it but stayed for years. The moment I felt something wasn’t worth it, I left immediately. That pertains to a job, bad relationship, bad contract, bad practices, etc. It don’t take years to find better. Left my last job and now making $10 more than what I left. Life is way too short to spend a second somewhere you can’t wait to leave the moment you arrive
@@davidrobinson9528I %100 agree with you all these owner op I talk to no don’t do no not worth it. Then I ask why are you still doing it? They say uh uh uh it’s just not good for new owner ops yea ok I get it a couple years ago it was amazing the rates but me and most other people who want the title of owner op don’t do it for the money we do it for the freedom of not having someone micro managing you and screaming at you cause you need a day off cause your sick I feel more at peace if I work for my self making the same as a company driver hands down
yup that business is booming cause noone wants work.
do i need to graduate high school for a CDL??
Yes, or get a GED
Good Evening, I believe this is a trick question. No, I do not believe trucking is worth it in 2023 nor has it ever really been worth to be an OTR driver. Trucking has always been an honest overworked and underpaid career. If you look at the risk, the time wasted vs the reward, you can make the same money or more money working most anywhere. What people do not realize is being an OTR driver is expensive, so if you have a family at home, good luck. I've been a licensed cdl holder since 96' and we are long overdue for a REAL raise. They will never pay drivers what the job is worth, you think we have inflation now, if they pay us it would be much worse.
I can tell by her hands that she has awesome feet
Didnt even push the button
Nope, flatbed bringing less than a thousand most weeks Best check i has was 13-14
Your a damn fool lmao , I can name 3-4 companies that pay 2-2.5k a week doing flatbed 6 months experience
No when you gotta be famous on UA-cam to make it work to buy 400,000 median purchase price for house in America. Don’t waste yrs of your time Bill Gates didn’t even wanna be out here and closed door after 8yrs in the business Rip Convoy. 😢
Nah not really
Otr isnt worth it I make more being local then I did when I was over the road
Dont matter pays more than what I do now 😂😂

Yes!!
No lol no one hires from here
Not until you move. Florida is the Armpit of the trucking industry
Listen to no one. Most these guys say it’s bad but is still driving. Go see for yourself. Experience is the best advise giver. What’s bad for them may be good to you
I think it's still worth it to a certain extent like me flat bed oversized and heavy hauling I do.Dry van is down reefer up a lil but the whole US is fucked up
It's not how you think They don't have to tell much about it
