Playing 'Road Redemption' on PC (game depicts blood/violence/vehicle-based combat; it's 18 rated)
If you played the original Road Rash games or this newer game inspired by them I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
So my missus reckons I'm obsessed with bikes... when I'm not riding the bike I'm thinking about where to go on the bike, painting stuff onto my bike jacket, reading books about bikes, and here I am playing a computer game about bikes!
If you're like me you enjoyed playing the game Road Rash on the Mega Drive back in the early 90s... lots of blood and fighting with other riders and the cops to batter your way to first place and get that prize money..
Road Redemption is the modern spiritual successor to those two 16-bit games and it's really good fun.
Here I'm doing a quick-play level on the PC version (Steam) and I somehow manage to finish in first place! You can compete with people online and also do a Campaign mode to progress through unlocking other locations, bikes, riders, gear, etc.
Grab this game on the platform you like (as far as I can tell it's on Nintendo Switch, mobiles, PC, PS4, xBox One and others...)
Thanks for watching and ride safe in the cosmos!

      They have a certain amount of water resistance, but if you're out for any time in a deluge it does get damp. I usually pack stuff into bags inside like you say, but I did debate using some wax on them to waterproof them... if i ever try I will let you know!

      Hey, sorry for the late reply! I've since changed bikes but if i remember right I think my logic was that the pipe for 'Res' sat lower in the tank than the 'On' one, so having it set to that meant that I was clearing the lower pool of fuel continuously that can sometimes get a bit sludgy otherwise at the bottom of a tank. Have fun on the ER-5 - i really miss mine!

    I’m in the market for a ‘budget Bellstaff’ and your vid came up in the googling - I was wondering how your Spada jacket was standing up to wear and tear after a few seasons? Thanks ps Is the belt sewn in, ie does it not simply slide round?

    • @deepspace_motorcycle
      @deepspace_motorcycle 3 місяці тому

      Hey, yes the jacket stands up really well. I used it through quite a mix of weathers and eventually in some major downpours and it didn't let me down at all. Yes, I didn't make that clear in the vids the belt does move round if needed but where I'd put in that little catch clip on the end to take up slack i liked the buckle to be centred. NOt really an issue just me being picky! I have since sold the jacket when I was trying to scrape in some pennies, but I'd definitely get that one again if I got the chance.

    So, I have a 96 zx7r and my L shape pipe came off refitting a tube. The O ring is missing. Was yours merely held in by the friction of the O ring. Are these merely press fit? Where do you get O rings. I've seen tap repair kits but they don't have the small o ring.

    • @deepspace_motorcycle
      @deepspace_motorcycle 3 місяці тому

      hey, yes that one did seem to be literally held in by the friction from the O ring. Certainly when it went back in again it didn't feel 'right' you know? It must have been though as it stayed intact. I've since changed bikes and no longer have a tap system, so not too sure on where to source replacements I'm afraid.

      I've been out on some rainy days in it, but nothing torrential yet. You can feel the waterproof element of the liner and zips seem well covered so I can't imagine it would leak... but as you say the acid test is that absolute downpour when out and about!

      It's a really comfy jacket and I think the shape is excellent. It's on the warm side even without the liner but is still excellent value in my opinion. My wife always tells me my comment on the belt length is daft as it does move round in the straps of course to reposition, but I just like the buckle right at the front and needed to make the extra hole to accommodate. Nice mod. A previous owner of my er5 simply replaced the oe petcock with a manual on off tap with the result that I have no reserve function. The one snag with your tap is that it's on the throttle side hence difficult to turn when you inevitably ride off having forgotten to turn the petrol back on! The tap on these is identical to that on the gt550 (and probably other kwaks for that matter) but this problem seems specific to the er5. Strange.

    • @deepspace_motorcycle
      @deepspace_motorcycle Рік тому

      Yes it's odd that it seems to be specific to the er5 .... Character I suppose right! Does the normal tap completely replacing the petcock work ok then? I'd be worried about removing the vacuum element of the system as these bikes don't have a fuel pump. I didn't try it that way as I thought it would be like running on prime the whole time but thank you for confirming it does work! Agreed on forgetting to turn on! Always seems to start to flake out at the worst moment when that happens too 🤣

    • @barnbersonol
      @barnbersonol Рік тому

      @@deepspace_motorcycle I've been thinking about this and all these kwaks have the same petcock but don't have the same carbs. And that's where the fault must be. If the vac valve fails on the gt550 you don't even notice because the float valves do their work. Yet a float valve is so simple how the h could anyone design it badly? When i used to have Superdreams they had plain on/ off/reserve taps and you relied exclusively on the float valves, never a problem. You were meant to turn off the petrol as a precaution but nobody ever did so. Same with the Jawas i own now. Am thinking of installing an after -market inline diaphragm but there's not much space in there hence your tap on the other side.

      I agree. When you think about how long that ER5 engine ran for in various versions too it's weird they didn't sort it. They tweaked other stuff within the various reworkings of the er5 but never seemed to really get on top of it. I suppose every bike has something!

    • @deepspace_motorcycle
      @deepspace_motorcycle Рік тому

      It's a good extra to have on there for peace of mind, even if your vacuum tap is good. But if you've only just refurbished your stock tap it's probably belt and braces!

    Zen And The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is one of my all time favourite books, but if I were to recommend it to anyone I'd make sure to mention it's more a philosophy book with motorcycles in it, than a book about motorcycles. Lucky for me, I love both philosophy and motorcycles! I also really related to the narrator and the way in which he thinks about people and the world, but I've read a bunch of reviews that said they couldn't relate to him at all, so I guess it's not for everybody. I've also read The Motorcycle Diaries and although it's a bit slow at times I really enjoyed it. I think at one point Che says he left in search of adventure and matured into a social being and I think that's a perfect description of the book. Another one I would recommend is The Perfect Vehicle. It's one of few motorcycle books written by a woman, which I appreciate, as well as that she talks about rider anxiety and getting over it. I also remember really liking the part when she described what it feels like to ride a motorcycle - the rumbling of the engine, the wind... I don't remember the words exactly, but the author is a writer by trade, so it was very impactful. Anyway... Really cool video!

      Absolutely hear you on Zen. I can see the strength and depth of it and I think it was more about where my head was when I picked it up to read than anything in the book that stopped me connecting with it. Wear glasses myself and therefor a bit hesitant getting this helmet. I do get by without so far, but the clocks get more and more blurry by the year. I thought I was stuck with Shoei or HJC (flip ups) but watching this made me pull the trigger on a By City. So, hats off and thanks! :)

    Awesome video man could you possibly explain more in depth or even better make a video about how you made the manual fuel shutoff to bypass the shitty vacuum fuel taps?

    • @deepspace_motorcycle
      @deepspace_motorcycle Рік тому

      Hey thank you for watching! The tap I put on doesn't bypass the vacuum tap as such, it sits between the existing vacuum tap and the carbs, just for peace of mind for me in case the petcock vacuum tap fails. Essentially, all I did was uplug the fuel pipe going out from the carbs off the petcock and run that into this new on/off tap. Then I got some 8mm inside diameter fuel line and ran that from the new tap to the petcock. This way I leave the petcock in place and just turn off the new tap as required. Hope that makes sense! I go into it a bit more in this video: ua-cam.com/video/hMzKvOclmPM/v-deo.html

    Just a mention about oil capacity to clarify: the 3.4 litres printed on the casing by the oil window is actually the dry capacity. The ER5 manual states capacity after oil and filter change is 3 litres, oil change without filter change is 2.8 litres. Apologies, i meant to reference this in the video but I've done a short on it showing manual etc, here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsMOljERF4Yts?feature=share

  • @2strokeguru76

    Kawasaki call for 3.4 litres of oil It clearly states on the engine case. Pal just saying lol

    • @2strokeguru76
      @2strokeguru76 Рік тому

      So you are a 100ml short of 1/2, a litre short of oil pal

    • @deepspace_motorcycle
      @deepspace_motorcycle Рік тому

      Ah no, the 3.4 is from dry. It's 2.8 if you're just doing oil, 3 if you're doing oil and filter and 3.4 from dry/rebuild
