    I bought some for an unheated room since I can do it myself. For the life of me I could not figure out how they snapped together till NOW. Easy Peasy. Thank you

    amazing guide! watching this before I start assembling mine to hype me up for the task questions for ya, once it's set up are you able to wiggle it into the right spot, or is it too heavy and I should definitely build it right where it goes? anddd how much space do you think I should leave behind it to have space to put weights on the cable tower? working with a tiny garage for this build and every inch counts 😅

    • @CharlietheHandyman
      @CharlietheHandyman 4 дні тому

      Yea it’s not too heavy I had to shift it around in the room. I put a plate on and then moved it a couple inches away from the wall.

  • @1fltjponr

    You should make it so the wire go through the bracket, not outside the bracket. You’re going pinch the wire and create a dead short/ fire.

    Hey, Awesome video! Did you have any issues with the pulley system? When I pull down it works fine but, on the way back up it takes forever for the weights to hit the bumpers. Almost like there is too much slack. Any ideas on how to fix this? This is my first rack set so please don't come for me.

    • @CharlietheHandyman
      @CharlietheHandyman 14 днів тому

      I had a bunch of slack at first. You have to tighten the cable by moving it up holes on the back of where you would hook the cable attachments. I moved them up to the top position and it’s been smoother. I believe there’s five positions but I’m not looking at this moment. Let me know if that makes any sense.

    Yes the hate is going to come. Alpine air is garbage. At least the unit you're installing. I had my unit installed and went through every single tiny bit of adjusting to make it better more efficient etc. was still a waste of money. The humidification that it gives out is minut. I was shocked when the representative told me that the best it could be. I only gained 5% more humidification at best compared to without. this is during the winter where is needed. Yeah they work, barely.

    Ah saddle valves. They work until they flood your basement in a year.

  • @darknes7800
    @darknes7800 22 дні тому

    7:34 Only use a saddle valve when you want FLOODED basement! Come on bro, cut the copper....drain the water ....... sweat in a 3/4x1/2 tee.....install a 1/2 stop valve (ball 1/4 turn) and run a 1/4 copper line to the humidifier. No need to cut the white at the humidistat, just run it though and cut the red for the terminals. Its low voltage, so its cleaner to use a crimp fitting instead of huge wire nuts. Should have connected the water line to HOT water, it aids in evaporation. Sorry bro, not much of a handyman....

    • @CharlietheHandyman
      @CharlietheHandyman 22 дні тому

      I agree the saddle valve is temporary. It was Sunday night didn’t feel like dealing with turning the water off. Sweat not a chance propress all the way. As I was editing I was thinking totally unnecessary wiring. It works though didn’t have my A game. It does work though 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @darknes7800
      @darknes7800 22 дні тому

      @ Hot, naw. Its coming in for quick (down and dirty) repairs. Even for repairs with them, you still have to evac and pump the system down. So you might as well solder it and do it right. Refrig quick connects have been around for many years, but those screw together for a positive connection. When it comes to refrig work, its SilFos or nothing .

  • @wakcedout
    @wakcedout 22 дні тому

    Yes saddle valve nowadays a big no no, but dude tilt it a bit further up the pipe next time. Reduce the chance for sediment building up in it as much as possible, after all it’s not like you’re ever gonna really be able to shut that off. But I think anyone doing this it would be a good idea to at least see if they can find one that has an actual shutoff, in case you have to replace or service this thing.

    • @CharlietheHandyman

    Nice video. I have one that was even professionally installed. I found many times once the filter becomes calcified, rather than down the drain, it leaks out the case. I'm gunshy to use it this winter. I lost a room of carpet last winter due to it overflowing. I now have several water sensors on the floor to hopefully prevent another occurrence. Have you seen this? Am I wrong in assuming the drain hose ( which I checked) is the intended destination for overflows? Thanks for taking the time to show this installation. I understand mine better now.

    • @CharlietheHandyman
      @CharlietheHandyman 23 дні тому

      Yep I’ve seen that. Pretty common if you have hard water in your area. They do make filters you can install on the water line might be worth it if it’s a constant problem. The plastic around the pad is supposed to funnel everything down the drain piping. Once the pad has swelled it has no chance of staying in the plastic piece. Biggest thing is to make sure you change the pad once a season.
