GE dryer stops randomly - SOLVED, bad relay.
Переглядів 20 тис.5 років тому
NO you angry youtube commenters this is NOT a repair video, I'm just pointing out the issue and you can decide to solder a relay yourself or just buy a new board. GE model DCVH680GJ1MR was stopping randomly with no correlation to the type of cycle, the heat level, etc. Heater was working fine, all sensors functioning, turns out the motor relay is bad. To fix, either buy a new board (eBay - look...

    Interesting. Excellent testing. Thanks for taking us along. At these speeds I’m thinking it’s not related to normal flow. The effects could be from assymetic forces generated by supersonic flow. eg a reflected shock wave.

    Can anyone advise how to unplug the 4 wires (1 white, 2 black & 1 blue) that are on the front of the board? I can't remove them to install a new board. I tried pulling them off w/ my hands, then tried w/ pliers but they won't budge. All other connections are easy to remove.

    such a dope video. i thought the 44 mag was a little longer. i guess the angling and how the bullet looks when ejected from the case makes it look not as long?

    I'm late to this but mine began the start stop about 6 mos ago, having to pound on it to restart. I finally bought a board on eBay & have a question. After you replaced the board, did you have to reprogram it, meaning did you have to go into service mode to enter any codes or did it start automatically after installation? I've never done anything remotely like this so want to be prepared. I'd rather pound on it to restart than install the board & have it not start because I have zero idea on the service mode stuff. Thanks for any info you can provide & for figuring out the problem in the first place. Seems to have helped alot of frustrated owners of this model like me.

      I actually didn't end up replacing the board, but you should not have to reprogram anything. Just plug and play, so to speak.

      @@9oreos308 Ok thanks. I saw you replied to a couple of comments that you had replaced the board so thought I'd ask. After posting my questions, I asked the supplier on eBay & they said the same thing, plug & play. Appreciate your quick response. And your video too.

    Just bought a used GE unit and I'm having this exact problem ! Thank you Edit, update: I removed the top cover of my dryer unit and located the PCB. I tested the right side relay by gently tapping on it and sure enough the drum motor would turn on. I suspect that the relay is actually okay and the root problem is a poor pin connection between the relay and the PCB. I wrapped a zip tie around the PCB, (over the relay) and added some plastic wedges between the zip tie and the relay in order to apply some pressure on the relay body and force it down onto the board. So far its been working after about 50 start/stop test cycles.

      Zip ties for the win! On another forum some guy said he used JB Weld to secure something against the relay but eventually replaced it anyway. I'm gonna test my relays tonight, i hope it is as simple as a zip tie. Thanks!

    • @newdefsys
      @newdefsys 4 місяці тому

      @@enhancedvibes Zip ties are still holding strong. Havent had an issue since. I should replace the whole board but, you know, other emergencies take priority over something that is working.

      If you ordered just the relay/little black box, you're gonna need to look up some tutorial videos on how to solder, and/or how to remove components from a PCB using a soldering iron.

    I guess no one here has the sense to notice it says 40,000 f.p.s.? That’s feet per second! A .44 doesn’t go 2,000 FPS much less 40k. It should say 4,0,000 c.p.u.! That’s units of pressure in the chamber. Obviously an idiot posting to the gun-illiterate crowds!
