More like the iron dukes fatal flaw, my 2.8 has 345,000 miles on it and I'm pretty sure it's stock timing chain
I believe how you're supposed to initially set the timing on the distributor is pointed at 11:00 position so when it fires it's going to go right to 1:00 to fire on cylinder 1. Then you have to ground the terminals under the dash to reset it and then the computer will do the rest. I was also going to ask if you have some detailed pictures of your vacuum lines and how they ran and where they go. Since looking that up you get very old or inaccurate diagrams. I have the EGR delete. The truck was running until something died on it which I think was the distributor. In the process of working on it I had to remove all the vacuum lines from the throttle body.
I threw a 305 in mines when mines did this
Hey bro I swapped my engine n put the old transmission in n it worked good tell I blow the transmission so I put a 4L80 in it n now I don’t start or crank I have power to everything n all my fuses are good but I tried jumping my starter from pin 30 to 87 on starter relay n nothing I was wondering if u can help me
Im doing the same to my 02 sierra 1500 4x4 but im gonna use 6.0 LQ9 bolted to an ar5 outa chevy Colorado and a nv120 outa trailblazer ss the 4500 is definitely a slow shifting truck transmission i was originally gonna use that or a nv 3500 but the ar5 is way better gear ratios and pretty damn stout theres dudes using them behind 800hp plus supras and its only 87lbs vs the 200lb nv4500 the only downside is you cant bolt an nv149 to it because its a 5 bolt adapter like the trailblazer/s10
@@koybaker643 damn ok, I've never heard anyone mention the ar5. I know people use it in vortec 4200 application but I didn't know it came with ls bell housing too. I hear the nv120 is a better tcase because it's torsen instead of viscose coupler
@@305_supersportYou use a 4l60e bellhousing with fabbots adapter but I'm trying to figure out my front driveshaft cuz the 120 uses like male splines instead of female if that makes any sense
Would doing this cause the ecu to stay in idle spark tables? Or does it run and drive completely normal?
Doing this got my truck to crank but it still wont run and I'm struggling to figure it out

Ive got the 2.8l 5 speed in mine. Any tips for longevity.
Oil pump and timing chain are common failures on the 2.8L. Pre 1986 2.8's can snap the crankshaft if you beat them too hard. After 86 they went to a larger journal crankshaft. Other than that, keep an eye on your oil pressure and if it gets low or acts funny, get a new oil pump in there. Keep up on general maintenance and it should run for a long long time.
Change the oil, feed it the beans
You should do one for reverse lights and vss🙏🏼

Does this only work with a manual swap?
Should work with the auto still in. All it’s doing is connecting the circuit rather than going through the switch so voltage won’t turn off if the switch is bad

Never count these motors out. I had that exact truck and I rode it hard and it never let down ever. Oil changes and tires is all they'll ever need.
How did you wire the reverse lights?
@@ivancavazos158 I didn't lmao 💀. I'm probably gonna look for the connector on rock auto and find the circuit in the auto harness and wire it up. For now I'm just gonna use my cargo lamp when I back up at night lol

@@victor.hugo.differentialz I didn't do a tune. It seems fine to run without one, the only thing is the idle logic is a little weird
Can PPL join with PPL/WHT to starting the engine with CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH because my car manual transmission is fix already the switch in the pedal ????
Because I change the engine with wires and fuse box also my engine wiring now for A/T My car original manual transmission 2001 v6 Now v8 5.3
Because if i join PPL with YEL will bypass ..will not start with pedal
@@mohammedyousif8770 yeah so I just crimped the 2 wires together because I don't mind being able to run the starter with the clutch out, but if you wanted to only start with the clutch in I believe you just need to run those 2 wires to the clutch depression switch

Can you use the original 4x4 front differential? I have a manual tcase in mine so it's not the electric front diff

I’m having to do this as I jus manual swapped my cateye but I have the newer nss plug so the quick jump is different and same with pin out but hoping the two wires under the fuse box are the same

I disagree with the comment about draining coolant and making a mess, they have what they call disposable concrete mixing things, they are rather thick plastic but they are very large, slide one of them under the engine bay and you will not make a mess, the crank gear is not meant to need a puller to remove, it's supposed to pull right off like that,
