Sounds like a faulty speaker - if you're game enough they are easy to open and replace

@@stevenzacharakis i dropped it at school in the hallway and it started sounding like that at over half way volume. If that makes a difference at all..

@@shauntelbray8190 it may of become loose or squashed inside the shell. You could always look on ifixit.com and see how to take it apart with tools. You can reposition it. The speaker is a couple of dollars to replace of that same site.

Slimey _Goomy if you like taking things apart then you can just replace the speaker yourself. Look on AliExpress for one. The top cover comes off pretty easily. If you have know-how.

Sir Stiv Do you know what type of screwdriver I would need to take the screws off on the top part?

Slimey _Goomy try 00 or 000 Philips (cross). Essentially buy a jewellers screw drivers kit. You will also need a very sharp scalpel to remove the rubber screw caps on the top screen infront. Once you undo them just slide the cover back (towards the hinge) and the back of the top screen and speakers will be exposed.

Rosebush gaming You should be able to start a new file? From the menu. Erase etc.

+thomas thoeni Refund or contact Nintendo. There is no way to fix it if the speaker cone is damaged from the production line. You can only do 1 system transfer every 7 days.

Had this same thing happen to me. Am going to break into 3ds with smartphone and try fixing save so i can complete the game

It's likely your headphone jack itself. You 3DS is detecting something still plugged in hence no sound. Could be a loose wire on your headphone jack/motherboard. If you're brave enough then fix it. Otherwise go buy another, swap it and return it with a full refund.

@@stevenzacharakis my 3ds is having a speaker problem to. When it plays music dream mario and luigi dream team the speakers. Do exactly what the faulty 3ds did. But way weaker. Its very annoying can you make a speaker replacement video or a fix to this? Please and thank you (P.S its been about 2 months and the box is in the trash plus i used tape to fix the loose stylus so that means i opened up the system so to late for that)

MISTA Derp I took it back and got a refund, had 30 days faulty goods. Some people say it's resonating against the plastic. It's clearly a stuffed speaker. Other people say just use headphones... Return it, or buy a new one, swap your stuffed one and take it back and get a refund in the shop. (after you do a system transfer)

They would just replace the speakers [they did for mine] but it doesn't address the loose 3d slider.

+Juan Reynoso MY 3DS slider was never loose. When they built it it's likely their thumb pressed on the speaker cone or something and damaged it. I have read that there are loose sliders that do cause that problem though
