My favorite Piper J3 Cub ASMR #aviation
There are some days where I just HAVE to take out the camera to take a photo or a short video of this beautiful airplane. Rain or shine, the Piper Cub is elegant and poised. There are many other planes that out perform this plane in nearly every respect but the Cub is universally regarded as wonderful.

We take this 1939 Piper J3 Cub for a joyride from Bremerton Airport to Lake Cushman and back. Join us as I talk about the things I love about the J3 Cub such as its amazing fuel economy, inexpensive cost of operation, and ease of flying. We also talk about the joy and freedom of flight, from the Flow state one gets when soaring through the air to sharing the experience of human flight with our ...

Beautiful Hawk teaches a Cub pilot a true short field takeoff. #flylikeabird
Переглядів 47711 днів тому
Take to the skies with a Hawk as it teaches a tailwheel pilot the art of a true short field takeoff. Watch as they navigate the taxiway and prepare for lift-off from the airport, showcasing the impressive skills required to master this complex maneuver. From the roar of the engines to the rush of takeoff, experience the thrill of flying like a bird.

Slipping the Cub on final to lose altitude prior to landing. My tailwheel instructor, an F-14 fighter pilot, taught me to stay high in the airport traffic pattern because if I ever lose my engine, I can always descend without power but it’s very hard to gain altitude without an engine. How to Taxi Your J3 Cub airplane on two wheels. #short
Переглядів 75212 днів тому
Rate my wheelie! It’s impossible to see out of the front while taxiing in the cub so normally I have to do “s-turns” but sometimes, I do a wheelie to look out the front. It’s also great rudder practice! #brokepilotclub #j3cub #aviation #pilot #wheelie #taildragger

The J3 Cub is an amazing airplane in most conditions but it really shines on calm days where you can really slow it down and fly low to the ground. On nice days the plane really stays straight and level with minimal input from the pilot.

Man this is awesome. This is the type of video I wanna put on early in the morning and drink a cup of coffee to. Can’t wait to get back up to the PNW and do some flying. Such a vibe!
@@zacharypennington1868 you humble me! Where in the PNW do you usually stay??
Done my solo and tailwheel in a cub I love them and the cub improved my landings and directional control
@@phithemopar it has definitely improved nearly every aspect of my flying 😊
Oooooooooooh ASMR
@AirJoe 😊😊😊
The Taylorcraft is the perfect budget time builder. Outruns a cub, outclimbs a cub, and cheaper than a cub. 😉 I live in Monroe WA, let me know if you want to do a cub & Taylorcraft flight sometime.
These are great points as well haha. And that sounds like a great time! Hoping for more VFR days in the next few months!
Great video. Did you buy the plane with the VGs installed?
Yes, I did!
Than you for posting, I have been flying for 45 years and can honestly say I have never tired of the privilege, every time one looks out he window there is something different the landscape or cloudscape, the water. It matters not whether one is at Flight Level 420 or Stooging around at 800' the magic is always there, for me anyway.
45 years of flying is an incredible achievement! I agree that flying has been and will continue to be something that I cherish and I pray to God that I can do it for as long as I am able. Maybe I'll be lucky and hit 45 years someday! Thank you for watching and for taking the time to reach out with your thoughts. I'm planning on posting more videos such as this so stay tuned :).
Do you have an IG?
Yes under the same handle! Brokepilotclub
Awesome video, I have a 40 model, one with the plane! Keep them videos going!
@@pcautoworks1 I really appreciate the feedback! The one in your photo is on floats! I’m very envious haha.
@ yes sir my parents had it since the early 80s. We talked to see plane training out in Southern California, I did a $80,000 restoration a few years back and I live in East Texas. I love it. I have the floats in the hanger.!
Taught float training
@@pcautoworks1 that’s great!! Do you still put the floats on for the water seasons??
@ if I could find a place to keep it, weather around here can get crazy, they are not amphibious, my plane is on one of the flying doodles episode from Recklaw with my Daughter in it, you ever get our way let’s fly!
Watching a video like this is the only time I feel sad that I live in FL. Cruising around terrain like that in a cub-type aircraft is a dream for me!
@@michaeldipasqua1281 each place has its own beauty and I know Florida is an incredible place to live! Someday you’ll have to make your way up to the PNW and fly around the mountains and crazy amount of water 😊
@ I’m just n the initial stages of planning a big XC in my RV once she gets out of annual. Have remained in the southeast for my first months of ownership, but I’m looking forward to a wild journey! I’ve never really done any low scenic flying. My mind is always on my engine. I’m sure comfort and confidence will come with time.
@ there’s definitely the obvious risks and I try to always have an emergency landing plan. There are quite a few RVs at my airport and I marvel at how quick and fast they are!
Wow must be super cool to fly an airplane like that through some of the most beautiful landscapes. Excited for more videos. Keep it up!
Hi, Joe! I am extremely grateful to live in such a beautiful place and for the opportunity to fly here. Also, people have been telling me to get a glider license! They say nothing makes a pilot more than a glider.
@Brokepilotclub for sure! If you're interested in gliders I'm your guy! There's a few locations up in the pnw. I have been up there a lot but never got the chance to soar up there. With the mountains you can definitely get some great flying in the summer, but you know the winter is another story 😂 🌧️
@ haha exactly. VFR flying is a treat in the winter up here 😂
I love the pnw! Beautiful flying! Gonna go check out the video now!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, I think you'll like the full video too.
This was absolutely a really enjoyable video, a great explanation of how I feel when I'm on a motorcycle, flowing through the backroads, sliding the corners, seeing the views, solo, just me, myself and the wilderness. Great video, amazing views, and I really want to see you be successful in this new endeavor.
@@2ShoesPhoto I’m so glad you enjoyed it. There’s something so peaceful about being completely immersed in the now and things like ripping through the backcountry in a motorcycle or flying low and slow are perfect to invoke that state of flow.
That was a genuinely really good video I was engaged the whole time! When you came out of Cushman over lilliewaup that was sweet🤙 makes me want to buy a plane asap😂
I'm a huge fan of this input and I'll be sure to keep it in mind when putting together new videos! Thanks, man!
Excellent throttle control bro. I fly one in Microsoft Flight sim only wish I could get the chance to fly one in real life but we are not all that lucky. Something I do a lot is fly only using my rudder and throttle in the simulator it’s a lot safer to do this but it gives you a better understanding of how the plane responds to the turbulence and throttle, I’m able to land and take off with only using rudder and throttle. I would like to see if you have any information about how you have learned to fly the J3.
@Bananasssssssss has a video where he flies with only the rudder, throttle, and trim! It's a great watch and I highly recommend it. I think if/when I get more comfortable AND the weather conditions permit, I may try it but for now I'm working on building the skill and confidence. I do plan on making more videos each about a specific aspect of taildragger/J3 take off and landing that I've learned in the last year so please stay tuned!

Your username is way too true😢. Im looking into this, and have for a while. How did you afford to own a cub? Loan, or save?
My wife and I bought the cub with a loan. The main purpose of the plane is for time building and honestly, as far as planes go, it was not very expensive. It sips fuel. And is suuuuper slow which is great for time building. Maintenance is very inexpensive because it’s such a simple plane.
@Brokepilotclub I've been looking at some cherokee 140s. My plan is to use it through training, build some hours and sell it. Seems better than renting.
@titusdrye5845 that’s exactly what I had in mind. I’m sure you’ve heard it already but be sure to get a good prepurchase inspection. The up front cost may save you from a multi thousand dollar mistake!
