Another Project! | CHEAP, Rare Find! | Part-Out or Restore?
I found another reason to spend money on marketplace. I really need to stay off marketplace. Anyways, this one's a good one. Should be a fun one! If you have any of the parts I'm looking for at a reasonable price, message me on Instagram! I need:
-front mud flaps/side skirts
-driver fender molding/trim
-headlight bezel/cover/assembly
-corner/marker/signal lights
-taillights
-center console
-speedometer trim/bezel

Project Evo Part 5 | Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 | Repairing the Brembo Brake Caliper | How To
Переглядів 684Рік тому
I hate Evos and I mean it. Coming from an enthusiast and garage mechanic perspective, this is by far the worst car I've ever worked on. This car has fought me from the day I first got it, to the day I tried to pull the engine, all the way to this day and it still continues to be a pain in the ass. Next time anything breaks, I'm ditching this damn drivetrain lol. K swap? Instagram: suewavang

Longer video than normal but I didn't want to break this up into two videos. I edited out a lot of technical stuff in order to shorten the video but it was not an easy task getting the engine back in and started. But it wasn't impossible either! Hope you guys enjoy the video. It was definitely very satisfying hearing the car run again after all this work! Instagram: suewavang

Pulling the engine, transmission, and transfer case for rebuild. A lot of work. I hate this platform. I could've had my engine out and back in on a RWD car with the amount of time I spent pulling this engine. Should be a fun build though! Stay tuned for more updates! Instagram: suewavang

    Video helped me out with my gearbox, pretty.much ready to re assemble one thing not shown it the outer bearing rings that go into the caseing mine seem to slide inand out by hand is this normal or are they a press fit?

    • @suewavang1538
      @suewavang1538 7 місяців тому

      I'm glad it helped. I honestly cannot remember how the bearings go into the case. Or I'm not exactly sure which one you're talking about. If you're talking about the tapered ones, they just get pressed into the main and counter shafts and then just sit on the race inside the case. If you're talking about the bearings by the axle/diff (honestly can't remember if there were bearings there or not) then I don't remember removing them so if they're sliding in and out then it's probably not normal.

    I have a 05 DC 2WD Sport series. My best friend has a 01 TRD 4x4, and gas done a 3" lift and has had the same problems. His drive shafts is having issues, he put off road- upper suspension arms on it so springs don't rub the ball joints.

      I need some aftermarket upper control arms as well. Still haven't justified buying them and installing yet since I've only put 5000 miles on my truck since I've lifted it lol (summer only). Was he able to fix his driveshaft issue by dropping the carrier bearing or is it a different issue?

    • @csas80
      @csas80 Рік тому

      A while back he had it rebuilt at a axle shop about 30 min away. He said it's starting to vibrate again. I think he needs a carrier drop too. His truck has 460k miles. He's owned it since it was new.

    hate that rear motor mount and that one back side of the bell housing bolt. Found out that ratchet strapping the transfer case to keep it far to the passenger side as possible does clear enough space to work on those two problem. should be able to get to those bolts from the bottom.

    • @suewavang1538
      @suewavang1538 Рік тому

      You have no idea how much I cussed over that stupid mount lol. I'll have to try the ratchet strap method next time. What I did that worked for the black Evo (the other one in the video) was I disconnected the front and rear mounts, hooked up an engine hoist, removed the main engine and trans mount, pried the t case off to the side, and pulled the engine forward which allowed it to slide off the rear mount and gave access to the last bellhousing bolt

    • @lespaulguitarist92
      @lespaulguitarist92 Рік тому

      @@suewavang1538 with the transfer out of the way.. theres enough room to get a torque wrench for that back bell housing bolt. And a wrench should get to the rear motor mount U bracket. I did lower the subframe tho because i was removing the trans.

      Nothing in particular. Depends on what your goals with it are. If you plan to go turbo, just buy a 7MGTE/1JZ/2JZ right off the bat. Costs a little more money but will save you time from having to pull out the N/A engine back and forth

      @@geofffelsing1283 personally I'm happy with it. It doesn't poke too much. If you want it to look more aggressive, SCS offers these wheels in -38. But that's very aggressive.

      Too long. It was forecasted 8 weeks but took closer to 13 weeks until I finally received it. And it wasn't a great finish either. That's probably because I kept bothering them after week 8 about the progress so they probably rushed it. That's technically fast compared to some others that I've heard of though.
