I used to think these were just a gimmick. People give them as presents and I have a couple. Never used them. But recently I actually tried one by "hyper tough" and ended up liking it. It is good to have in my barn jacket while doing chores. It is handyto open feed and fertilizer bags, tap in gutter spikes, fix chicken wire fences, prune an occasional branch when mowing stuff like that. Not a constant carry sort of pocket knife or refined tool, but actually ok to have when gardening and puttering around.

Thanks for the review. I got one from my son and daughter today for Christmas. It's a beautiful tool. If anyone is finding that the pocket clip is a hot spot on your palm, you can swap it to the opposite side of the handle. Then it falls naturally between the muscle of your thumb and the tips of your fingers as you grip the handle. Perfect design.

I bought a KnifeCenter exclusive Rat with micarta scales made in China and the fit and finish is crap. The micarta is painted and lock up is about 1/3 of the way and the blade coating on the black model looks cheap. The whole knife looks cheap compared to the Taiwanese Rats. Huge difference on the fit and finish Rat made in Taiwan which is great and I own several made there because they are such great quality budget edc knives. I am going to sand my KnifeCenter Rat scales and hopefully that will make them grippy so I can actually use them for work and thrash them without slicing my hand open.
