Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor is incredible, one of my all-time faves. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on the other two books in the series, because the world Taylor created is so expansive and imaginative it made me like 🤯 Total literary perfection imo 🤩😍

Hares are trouble in folklore. Familiars of witches sent to spy. Or sometimes the witch transforms herself into a hare to steal milk. (Cows' or mother's milk) I haven't read Pine but if you've read Starve Acre there is a scene that last bit of folklore applies. Rabbits are chill in comparison.

Unfortunately, Crow Moon is not available at my library. I found out The Ice Coven is part of a series as you said and my library has all four of them! A winter-feel/thriller/horror novel that I just finished was Ararat by Christopher Golden. Have a great Christmas and good reading to you. P.S. I love And Then There Were None as well.

As an EAP fan, The Raven’s Tale looks especially interesting to me. Christmas/winter season usually has me re-reading Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and a spooky/winter feel horror novel called Ghost Story by Peter Straub. Have a spooky Christmas and we’ll talk again soon…

Hi! Thank You for these recommendations. I read the Sonja Blue Stories Ages ago, a trade paperback, three books in one, but I can’t find my copy. Too many moves. I did a massive re-reading of Anita Blake this summer and I loved it! I think some years ago I stopped at the Harlequin, because I got annoyed at Anita. She didn’t seem to grow and seemed to make the same mistakes over and over again. But that changed. In the newer books she really thinks about herself and her relationships and she goes to therapy. I enjoyed it. I read the Dead until Dark (True Blood) Series by Charlaine Harris at the same time as Laurell K. Hamilton, so I had to reread them as well. Thanks again!

Yay i added some stuff to my tbr. I love vampires.❤ also, i was trying to read fantasy but i found it hard to do without any horror elements so hopefully these interest me.

I must say Gothikana, Starling House and Blood Over Bright Haven seem of particular interest and will go into my TBR notebook. I must disagree with you about All Hallows however. That was a DNF for me; I didn’t find the plot or characters interesting at all. It’s funny because I really enjoyed Christopher Golden’s Road of Bones a few months ago. Oh Josie, I'm sorry to hear how bad things got for you. As someone who'd listen to Joy Division to cheer himself up, I can relate. It's an occupational hazard of having a creative mind. And you're right, Simon Marsden's photo books are great and, fortunately, still relatively cheap secondhand. I've made a note of a couple of your recommendations. I can also recommend a few for you on the vampire theme.

How to Sell A Haunted House is absolutely not worth it. DNFing it was a wise decision. What is that edition of Starling House?? Each and every paperback one I've found has the ugly "Reese's Book Club!!" unremovable sticker on it.

You look great in that cossy - and I'll be checking out Daisy Johnson's new one ('The Hotel') soon. A personal favourite among haunted house novels is 'Malpertuis' by Jean Ray. Genuinely strange, but pacey and perfectly accessible, (always a good combo), especially in its English translation.
