    Treat a volleyball swing exactly like a QB would treat his shoulder when throwing, and how a boxer would train his/her shoulders when throwing punches (specifically dominant hand crosses).

  • @VBMichael_D
    @VBMichael_D 7 днів тому

    Hitters, your swing and shoulders are going to be very similar to throwing a dominant hand punch in boxing. Your shoulders do NOT stay still (like I see so many hitters do). Notice the boxer's incorrect demo at first? Notice how his shoulders turn TOWARDs where he's hitting? This is why you don't cut across your body when you are hitting. ua-cam.com/users/shorts8afg6CWFTWw

    Idk if I agree, 111.5/15in (283cm) seems to have bounce potential, just not quite as sharp of an angle or as powerful (even 250ish cm or 100ish inches can get a solid roll or trick-shot)

    A good way to visualize is to stand in a boxing stance and throw a (dominant/rear hand) cross. Do your shoulders stay where they are (like an arm punch) or do they rotate? If they don't rotate, you have some more training to do. I.e. Defalco's line shot. Notice how he hit line but his shoulders are facing as if he hit angle? That's poor form. His shoulder should have rotated to where he was squared up to the net. You can also look up why football QBs are discouraged from 'throwing across their body' Defalco's line shot form is IDENTICAL to throwing across the body. ua-cam.com/users/shorts_ZStF8U8Z_0

    • @sascha2056
      @sascha2056 26 днів тому

      At that level it's just effective deception. The guy can bounce the ball at ridiculous speed, even hitting across his body. If he doesn't do it too often his shoulder will stay healthy too. But I totally agree, it's not something that should actively be taught. It's just hard to call it "bad technique" if it scores points effectively😅

    • @VBMichael_D
      @VBMichael_D 24 дні тому

      @@sascha2056 I can say the same for NFL QBs. Again an NFL QB could throw probably twice as far with 'bad form' cross body throws, but it's still discouraged because it IS low power (plenty of examples of cross body throws that resulted in interceptions), and even more imprortantly ergonomically bad for your shoulder. "if it scores points effectively" Apparently not, as that seems to be for show. From what I saw from play in Paris, 95% of DeFalco, Russell and Mugatuittia's swings were angle, towards a block, blocking angle. "The guy can bounce the ball at ridiculous speed" If he put his shoulders into it, he could be bouncing the ball at LUDICROUS speed! (look at Kurek from Poland. His swing/shoulders are textbook). I'm not knocking TJ as a player. He's a very good all around player (which is a blessing for a team). I just think he and everyone else are selling themselves short and inadvertently truncating their arsenal.

    Hitting also involves your core, shoulders and even your non-hitting hand. Case in point. Get into a boxing stance. Now, throw a (dominant hand) cross without moving your core or your shoulders. Arm punches don't work. Same for hitting in vball.

    • @cameronperformance
      @cameronperformance 27 днів тому

      Yes as I wrote in the video it’s the 2nd last part of the Spiking Sequence, and that the arm comes around as the torso rotates forward (overlapping actions). This post was an isolated topic for the arm action itself, as it’s very important to train and this exercise and its variations helps train the pattern and patient arm with the Pull back, the arm path and muscular actions. The other actions should not be neglected either, as they are also very important in force production for the spike and overlapping them transfers force up into the arm, and they can be involved within this exercise as well. I have hundreds of videos on the other parts of the spiking sequence too! Hope this clears it up!

    • @VBMichael_D
      @VBMichael_D 27 днів тому

      @@cameronperformance Thanks for letting me know you have videos on this. I shall go watch them as well. Another example is when a football QB tries to throw a ball across his body. That motion is heavily discouraged, as it 1. has reduced power/strength, and 2. It is actually ergonomically bad for your shoulder. The only time I will ever do a cross body shot like that is if I'm playing outdoor on the right side and I do an off-speed cut shot if they are blocking my angle and digging my line shot. Here is a prime example. TJ DeFalco, a pro, who should really know better. His shoulders should be facing the net once he's done, yet they face the opposite court's 4 zone. This is especially ridiculous given he's running an inside out approach. This is the equivalent of an arm punch/cross body throw. However, you can get away with bouncing it like that when you are 6'5" and a 40in vertical. ua-cam.com/users/shortsHXnzcinhxgw

    Jesus loves you all! Do you have any workout videos? Also, thanks for this video! I also want to say that Jesus is the Bridegroom and I (and the Church) are the Bride. Jesus is coming back and not a lot of people are ready because not a lot of people are living for Him. But God is living and merciful and it’s never too late to repent. Please, anyone who sees this, turn back to God. He loves you. Jesus Christ loves everyone and died for all of our sins. Jesus also rose again from the dead three days later, proving everything He said to be true (before He died He said He would rise again from the dead). Everyone has sin and the wages of sin is death. Sin leads to death and death leads to hell (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23) But Jesus died for our sins and paid our debt to sin, so anyone who chooses to believe in Him will be saved from hell and could go to heaven. If you want to make Him your Lord and Savior you could say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I confess You as my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me for all of my sins, I repent and I turn to You. Please help me to live for You, and I love you. In Jesus name, Amen! If you prayed that, Glory be to God! Please get a Bible, read it every day, pray everyday and please go to church. Jesus loves you!
