Couple of things, the valves you had are the AFM valves not to be mistaken with NPP valves which are directly behind the tips. Second dyno testing has proven 10 hp with a muffler delete. Which is marginal, but I’ll take 10hp as a byproduct. Do you still have it and like it, or did you move to an actual exhaust?

keep the paper towel out of the touch up paint or clear coat. you can build it high with clear and polish it down with some ultra fine compound.

i'm holding this touchup pen that I just purchased from Chevrolet and was quaking in my boots about applying it to my Camaro. You're doing gods work man. Made total sense once I could see it, especially the lessons you learned along the way. i'm wondering if the final coat of paint (was it the third or maybe the fifth coat on your vehicle?) should instead be the clearcoat pen, to bring it to flush. I'm reticent to share that question though because frankly you nailed it. going to head into my garage now and do it. I'll follow up with an edit/outcome.

The valves you see are the AFM valves, provides back pressure when using eco mode. Nothing to do with volume.

I got a 2017 stingray and I've been wanting to do this for about 2 years now but scared that removing the npp valves will cause a check engine light to go off. Do you know if it will?

For this reason I think it's worth installing a "clear bra" (i.e., clear rock chip film) as it's nearly impossible to keep the front of a vehicle rock chip free unless you don't drive it.

I have a black pen on order to touch up a scratch on the headlight of my 94 vette. It was touched up once but still looks bad. I’m hoping to make it disappear. I have quite a bit of experience fixing scratches on airplane furniture so we’ll see if it will be helpful for automotive purposes. 🤞

A decent wetsand, compound and polish will make it like new. Nice work though. Looks great. My dark blue Silverado shows all chips and touch up paint has been a big go to

That touch-up job isn't perfect but it gets the job done. A couple hundred bucks to repaint the whole hood? The tax alone would cost a couple hundred bucks. Then after repainting the hood, you could end up getting another paint chip on it. I just got a paint pen for my 2007 Impala and it will be good enough for the 4-inch long scratch on the trunk. It will be good enough compared to what it looks like now.

I feel your pain! I got a rick chip on the lower front ground effects right were it peaks on my drive home from the delearship. Also a 2019 Vette.

Saw a video with a rubbing compound after final paint coat and after the clear coat will get that smooth look ? I’ll let you know . Video was very helpful specially seeing I didn’t even realize a clear coat was included in the pen . Great video . Thanks again

Nice job! One thing you can do buy some compound polisher rub into it after you apply the clear coat to smooth it out.
