2023 Colorado Desert Boss Towing Review
Переглядів 3,8 тис.5 місяців тому
I was very impressed with the towing capabilities of the 23 ZR2. The increase in torque from the previous gen’s made a big difference. Conflicting info on the max towing, multiple videos say 7700 lbs including the ZR2, per chevy’s site the ZR2 is 6000 lbs max towing. @Chevrolet #zr2 #chevrolet #coloradozr2

I have been working my way around my truck for the past 4 years. I am not a certified mechanic by any means. The timing was off on my truck it threw codes P0019 and P0021. The fix was to switch out bank 2 VVT solenoids. I also did bank 1 for good measure. Moab trail run in remembrance of Officer Ashley Haarmann

Memorial off-road trail run in Moab UT, in remembrance of Boulder Police Officer Ashley Haarmann. A fellow ZR2 owner and out door enthusiast who lost her life doing what she loved, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park on 7/15/2021. In learning of Ashleys Passing I along with a few others were able to organize a memorial run event in her honor in Moab (March of 2022). 9 ZR2s, 1 jeep traveled f...
Woo Hoo...looks like fun. I'm watching to do a little prep for Aug. Gonna try to make it all the way from AZ to MI for these dunes. I appreciate your know-how and tour. Were you in 4-hi or 2-hi? Thought I heard mention of traction control "off"...4-Lo? Did you use your rear locker on Test Hill? Finally, what pressure on the tires? If by any chance you can meet us, please do. 😎🤠
Some areas I was in 2 and some 4 hi. I have never had to use a locker. Definitely traction control off. When I had my previous gen for test hill I did 4hi manual kept it in 2nd until cresting the hill. Tires have to be between 12-15 psi. I usually run 15. I will check those dates again and see if I can find coverage for 1 or 2 of em.
Can I give you couple of pieces of advice? First you should protect the power wire with a wire split-loom you don't want that wire getting hot and melting and touching bare metal "Fire Risk", 2nd is use a multimeter or 12v test light on the fuse you used to piggy back, those fuse adapters are directional. The pin furthest away from the wire is where the voltage need to feed from, as it has to go thru the fuse to the wire, if you place it backwards the fuse will do nothing, if you don't have a way to test what side has power on the fuse, remove the upper fuse (auxbeam) if you still have power then is backwards. Flip it to where without fuse there is no power on the auxbeam box. Also what you keep calling "relay switch" is actually a 60 Amp breaker switch.
Was there a couple weeks ago in the jeep. Good times.
Sweet!!!! I have jumped mine a bunch.
Cool
Try removing tailgate compartment plug and press down on compartment door when latching. Mine stays dry after doing both. Having the plug in place doesn't allow compartment to breath in turn condensates keeping water/mosture inside. Pressing down on compartment door by each locking lever when locking puts locking tab correctly and tightly in locking slot. This worked for me, mine is always dry after rain and washing never wet anymore. Good luck.
Hey thanks for this, I will give it a try.

🙏🇱🇰❤❤
Are the lights bright enough ?
Most definitely. I will do a review post on them once I get me right back.
Sweet. Thank you.
You two are a hoot to listen to! Nice truck and thanks for sharing your fun!
Glad you enjoyed it. It’s non stop with us lol.
Our mountain logging roads can get quite rough/ washed out. It will have you cussing saying oh shit or oh f__k when you start getting tossed around like a rag doll.
Hey where did you purchase the sport bar? Truck looks really nice.
The dealership I purchased it from ordered it.
@zr2girlz658 thank you.
looks good.
Looks like fun. I'd like to take my Trail Boss there. The Off Road park made me too nervous. haha
Almost any off road park will be worse than silver lake.
I bought a Colorado trail boss last year. It is that pretty velocity blue color. But I am thinking about trading it in on either a regular zr2 or a zr2 bison model trucks. I want the bigger 3" body lift with bigger tires and that additional front electronic differential locker. I go driving up on our logging and forestry roads in Southern Appalachian mountains in va,ne tn and western nc. Plan on going down this fall to ride on trails in north Georgia by Clayton, blue ridge,Helen , and Ellijay areas. Go down there and teach the jeepesters how to drive off road in my newer Colorado zr2.
Nice truck.
Looks like so much fun! I need to get up there.
Looks like a lotta fun!
Definitely a good time
Awesome truck! What size tires are those? Are they stock?
They are stock. They are 285/70/17
Great video…… I only heard one f bomb….. gotta get back in the canyon and test that rig again! 19:47
There may have been some editing out of the f bombs 🤣
Excellent video. But your co-pilot cracked me up at the very beginning!!!!
that was a great guide, thanks for the upload.
Nice truck 👍
After watching your video again I hope you don't mind but I'm going to steal your relay idea.... ;-)
I don’t mind at all. I put it out there for an option for anyone wanting it. I hope it goes well!
@@zr2girlz658 It went great as I have already modified the bracket and installed it.
Would of been nice to see this before I did mine like 2 months ago. Idk still getting used to it. Gives the truck a whole different look.
Do you know of any performance parts I cannot find any for my 2023 GMC canyon
There is not much out there yet
Where is this at? Looks awesome
Silver Lake in Mears MI
Well done 👍
Nice job!
I think it looks so much better without that sports bar on the back, it takes away the beautiful lines of the truck!
All a matter of preference and ours aren’t the same. I love it!
S10!?
ZR2
Thinking of getting this instead of the taco pro please give more advice lmao
@@unclemon1700 I would 100% go with the ZR2
@unclemon1700 I have a 2020 ZR2. If you go with a taco you're crazy.
I wanted a black ZR2, but it was going to have to be a special order. The local GMC dealer had a white AT4X in stock - so I went with that. Super happy with the truck - but the ZR2 has such a nice front end!
The waits are killer that’s for sure. The AT4X is a badass looking truck. It was something I explored.
Wow. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Lot of work went into it, and I appreciate it.
It’s def time consuming. Thank you
Very clean install, I like how you mounted the Auxbeam relay box. I'm going to use some of these ideas for my ZR2!
Pretty rad.
Great install video! Very helpful. Us UA-cam shade tree mechanics appreciate your service. 🫡 We need a follow up on you showing them at night.
I can def do a follow up with them at night
This is so cool, I have the canyon at4x, I'd love to see like a camper cover on the top if possible, or a wench added!
i'll be looking for updates from you on this great install. AuxBeam and I have a hate hate relationship
Oh no why is that?
Truck is looking awesome!!!
What a beautiful truck! Love the color. I ordered black.. im regretting that now 😢
I think this truck looks so good in any of the colors. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
I got the black one also , it’s a lot of upkeep. Be lazy and the black ZR2 will show it 😋
My 24 Colorado Z71 needs a friend. Where can I find a truck girl like you❤
Great video! I feel like I can do this now! Side note question: is there a aftermarket lift on that truck?
You can def do this!! No there is no aftermarket lift. The 24 zr2 comes stock 3in taller than the other colorados and sits on 33s
@@zr2girlz658trail boss is 2”, zr2 is 3” stock over the other trims.. already told you on FB but that blue is beautiful, great instructional vid, thanks for the content, subscribed!
@@w1kedZ appreciate it!!
Will you be adding a tonneau cover? If so cant wait to see that video.
Yes I did add a tonneau cover. I didn’t make a video on that though.
@zr2girlz658 did you get the GM cover or something different? Just wondering how they fit. Thanks
@@captaincrypto9660 yes it was the gm one, a soft roll up. It fits good. The fabric does rub on the sports bar when rolling it up, but my previous gen did the same thing. I don’t roll mine up a ton so not really an issue, however if rolling it up is something you do often I could see that being frustrating. If you message me on IG (zr2girlz) I can send you pics and a video of it.
So i thought the new 24 model sporta bar came with a secondary brake light and a wiring harness
No the sports bar sits higher on this gen and clears the brake light. I can only guess that is why there isn’t one. But I haven’t really looked into it either. I drove a desert boss and it didn’t have it either. You can however get a 40 in light bar that sits on top of the sports bar.
I only have a Colorado Trail Boss but it’s payed off, your truck looks awesome but I think it looks so much better WITHOUT that sport bar thing you mounted! I wouldn’t put a front push bar or whatever on the front either, it blocks the great front end looks away and it’s just too much! It looks awesome the way it looked!
Everyone has their preference on style and design. Ours don’t align, and there is nothing wrong with that. Glad you enjoy YOUR rig. I love mine!
Nice, straight forward video,I have the same ZR2 in the Glacier Blue and love it! I need to know were you got that hoodie.
Thank you. I had the hoodie made. One of a kind lol.
Just ordeed my ZR2 sports bar after watching your video. It is on backorder on the site.
I did hear they are on backorder. Hopefully it will come soon!
My sports bar came in today. Weird question, but how big is the box it comes in? Trying to figure out if I need my truck to get it or my wifes suv. 😊😊@zr2girlz658
@@captaincrypto9660 it’s a very long box, it will stick out the back of your bed, but if you strap it down it’s doable. Drove mine back 1.5 hrs like that with no issues. Happy install!!
what brand of bar is that , it is not OEM is it
It is oem
Glad you finally got you new truck.
Very detailed install video! Looks great! 👍
Just ordered a 2024 ZR2! I added the roll bar on the build with lights.. little spendy. The whole build is $57955.. inches love your truck… blue looks so good
At the time I ordered mine you could not add the bar to the build. You could only add in the aux switches for later install. That’s awesome you can add it in now! Hope your wait goes by fast 🤘🏼
Nice!
Great video and beautiful truck. Subscribed 😉
Thank you!! Subscribed back 💪🏼
