You're nailing it. After I got through OK and into NM? I finally saw wide open spaces for the first time. The highway stretched out to the horizon. It felt like looking out over the ocean. I felt in the moment, very present tense. Glad you decided to turn North to Colorado. You're only on the tip of the iceberg -- consider exploring Durango, Telluride, Rocky Mtn National Park! The mountains and ski areas are beautiful for summer camping! Don't forget to sit out at night and see the umbrella of stars.

Mammoth Mtn, CA has hot springs. It's a ski area in winter. Just heard from an old neighbor in AZ: it's 112 today.

What I found out about myself by travel nursing for 5 years before retirement ? Plenty. About who I am , who I want to be and where I want to be. Watching my husband die of pancreatic cancer lit a fire under my ass GO!

As a travel nurse, sounds like you're going West on 20? Skip Birmingham and noodle on down towards Mobile. Great seafood along the Gulf Coast. I-10 is hot during the summer, so don't take it unless you have to? Austin is great 👍, Santa Rosa, Nm is off 40 and has a Blue Hole ( free swim)! LHC in AZ is cool and there's always Quartzsite in the fall. Best of luck and Westward Ho! Stop often and explore along the way! Enjoy the adventure!
