Joan Taylor is/ was my wife's aunt. She passed away a few years ago. She married Leonard Freeman (Producer of Hawaii 5- 0), and she stopped acting to raise their children. Sadly, I never got the chance to meet her. Funny to see another of her movies.

Oh yes, let's evaluate what we think we saw - a flying saucer - while we huff on cancer sticks and stare out at the open desert. Well, well, the saucer noise is on the tape, never mind that the tape may have been faked, a hoax. Was that done in those days? Married that day and having barbeque with daddy that night. Is daddy going to stay the night with the newlyweds on their first night as married? That ought to be interesting. And of course, the first thing the military does is kill the spaceman and fire on the spaceship. That mindset hasn't changed.

I saw this when I was 8 or 9 yrs old and we stayed till 5/8 in to the 2nd showing!! till we Had to go home for dinner! What a movie!!!! An d of course it just ISNY an official Super 50's film WIYHOUT Harry Lauder as "cutting " the lab assistant!!!

Another movie showcasing how the USA saved the world. What was happening in other countries as this was all going on in Washington? I guess We’ll never know. At least it’s safe to go to the beach.

In the intro the special effects lists A. Arnold Gillesie, Warren Newcombe and Irving Ries. And through courtesy of Walt Disney Productios, Joshua Meador. Josh was animation director for Disney Studios. Josh created the animated "id monster" effect. The movie was nominated for the Academy Award for special effects.

I always found it funny that the space scenes on the screen inside the flying saucer were taken directly from the opening sequence from rival 20th Century Fox's film "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

funny how when it came to flying saucers, they always said shoot first, ask questions later. except dimensional travel negates any weapon being effective and anti-gravitational conveyances should be what we develop to use the planetary gravity instead of drilling, cutting trees for mining. no pollution with gravity and all the body shells and parts could be remined from landfills. positive or negative charged body shells would prevent collisions and you would control with a joystick and foot pedal system. you could go as high as the gravity ends and then it just stops. the park position would be 12" off the planet surface to assure the craft settings were accurate. A power generator from airflow or 'mining' electricity from the air 5-12G would power lights and entertainment and safety devices. about the time cutting a tree is a felony we should have these craft developed.

this movie is as good today as it was 58 years ago. The one thing missing from today's youth his imagination. This movie proves it.

I just notice a name in the opening credits, Donald Keyhoe. He was the Director of The National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). Is this a warning from him? This film was originally in black and white.
