I’ve let art journaling go for several years. I recently moved and now have a dedicated studio space. I’ve done some sewing and a few projects with my grandson here, but I’m ready to start journaling again. I recently dedicated an entire journal to swatching my paints. I enrolled in a book binding class, which will include afew weeks of drawing as well. I’m all set. Now I just need to push past my fear of the blank page.

I always like the paper bag heads, and how much expression/movement you're able to show just with a square essentially. Very impressive 😊

omg this is so reaaaal!!! since i let myself just do whatever it comes i just got much better and also I'm just having much more fun, which is the most important part. is just so fun to not pressure yourself and just go "fuck it we balls". great video!!

That's a very clever way to do a background, to use the selection and fill tool like that! I think I'll try that for artfight this year, since I wanted to try to do backgrounds for all my attacks but didn't know how it'd work out efficiency-wise! Awesome video, by the way!

7:56 is so real and i'm laughing so hard I do the same thing for literally the exact same reason. I really love the videos where you're a little more real w us because you have NO idea how much we relate. It's hard to watch people pretend theyre totally fine and everything is great when you're just barely holding your head above water some days. The focus on optimism and pulling through is so real to how it really is out there yk? I hope things improve for you, too. You always inspire me to get my journal and sketchbook out and actually make stuff.

Wow i really loved this!! it made me feel inspired to art journal and now i think i will. I watched it all the way through and listened to you talking while also paying attention to what you were writing and drawing. I had a journal but it was just words, and didn't feel me. But now with this great idea i will feel so much more motivated to write the good things for each day!!

This is cool how you do your art journal. I used to art journal by making my life into a comic. I would exaggerate the good and the bad I would alter to not so bad. I think it did help me through my childhood and I'm hoping to start again but maybe something more on how you approach art Journaling! Thank you for this video ❤

Do you happen yo have that hole or complex pattern phobia? Maybe what bothers you about centipedes is the fact there are so many small bits of negative space.

recently theres this one thought that i get most of the time after i draw something and it really demotivates me, i always think to myself “whats the point of drawing all of this when no one would care about it that much and would probably only look at it for 3 seconds”

the most recent drawing i had the most fun on was when i redrew a simple design's line art a few times and just used the WORST, ugliest color palettes i could find to color it in, i had so much fun i made them an actual reoccurring character i'm keeping, whose every aspect changes color for unknown reasons, resulting in just unpleasant palettes

Not every day is a "good" art day but I rather draw daily (even if it looks ugly lol) and improve than let my skills rust over time 😊

Love all these tips! I'm a big fan of picking out the stuff I like in other artists' art (e.g. colour palettes, shape language etc.) and then combining them all into mine, it feels like a fun experiment Another thing I like to do to see if I've improved is redrawing old art, it's a good confidence boost if I'm feeling particularly down

Instant follow from me for this video. This is the first time I’ve come across you but I love your message and your style. Just this week I started a sketchbook for just doodles and random art for no particular reason so I can have fun. There’s no purpose other than to make pretty colors or slap paint down or scribble with markers and I’ve left no room for perfectionism to sabotage me. I’ve had art block connected to my ptsd for years, and I’m proud to say I’ve drawn 4 days in a row! This video is exactly the message I wanna keep in mind while motivating myself to stick to art, my previous passion I’m happily returning to.
