    • @Opensealeather
      @Opensealeather 7 днів тому

      Hand stitching a punching bag would be a major task! I’d use a milled leather around 5-6 inches. Milled leather would be a little softer when hitting it without gloves. I’d use thick veg tan skirting for the attachment points. Stainless steel rated d-rings. Solid copper rivets to attached veg tan to the body of the bag

    • @Opensealeather

      Yeah the thin plywood actually works better than acrylic imo. Makes a better straight edge than acrylic. The knife tends to enter the acrylic easier

    When you apply your template to the leather for cutting the pattern I noticed a light adhesive on the template. Is that adhesive some type of spray or what? I like that the template easily releases from the leather.

    I love how informative this video is. Being new to leather craft I agree it's overwhelming the amount of information out there. I was wondering if you could quickly breakdown the difference (or provide a reliable respurce) on what is 1. Vachetta leather 2. Saffiano leather 3. English bridle leather 4. Harness leather 5. Skirting leather

    • @Opensealeather
      @Opensealeather 11 днів тому

      1. Untreated veg tan. Basically just veg tan without waxes or oils. 2. Saffiano is a hatch grain embossed leather usually painted and highly finished. 3. Bridle is veg tan with lots of waxes and oils to be softer. 4. Harness has less was and oils than bridle to maintain strength. 5. Skirting doesn’t have wax or oil so it’s good for tooling and heavy duty applications

    I've been wondering about how to handle when the supplier removes the kind of leather you've been using. Finding a replacement leather could mean higher production costs or customers upset about the change. Have you felt that before, and how would you move forward?

    • @Opensealeather
