I just got back from a trip where I took a lot of pictures with the idea of making sketches! But my photos are on my iPad and I don’t want to use the ink to print. I think I will duplicate the photo then use the crop feature to pull out what to sketch. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for your comment, glad it it was helpful

Your videos are so helpful and very much appreciated!😊
Thank you for your generous comment Paul. It's great too hear that.
I was going to share a picture of my “rule of thirds” template that I made based on yours but I can’t seem to add photo’s to the comments…could very well be user error…I love that you often draw with the iconic Ticonderoga #2 pencil! My photo also included a picture of my Blackwing 602 obscenely expensive pencil…vanity?! Seriously though, dividing up the drawing surface into sections is understated in the drawing community for its usefulness on getting a hold of the void, so thank you and best…
Hi @AlabasterRhumb, Thank you for your warm reply. Firstly, I was happy to hear that you made a "rule of thirds" template. Using that plus using a centerline are two ways to really improve observation and therefore drawing skills. Some artists use a much tighter grid system, they might produce highly accurate drawings but that method won't improve drawing ability. "Thirds" is just right. You still have to negotiate proportions and placement etc. Regarding the Dixon pencil. It has high quality graphite and an eraser that actually works. Don't worry about the "drawing community" the object is to learn to draw! When I went to art school the philosophy at that time was don't touch the student's work. I saw many full of enthusiasm young students give up on their dream and leave . I vowed to myself that when I became an art teacher I would actually "teach". Re your images, youtube only allow comments. Try my Instagram or Facebook I'd like to see if that works as I would love to be able to see my subscriber's work
Very helpful…thank you.
Hi AlabasterRhumb thank you for your kind reply, it's encouraging
: “You draw very well, but we have difficulty seeing the construction of the drawing because it doesn’t appear clearly in the video; the lines are too faint. I suggest more light or using a pen. A big hug from Brazil.” Let me know if you’d like any adjustments!
Thanks for your comment andreantonow it's very helpful. I take your point that the lines are a bit faint. I'll use a darker pencil next time. Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it. I'm always trying to improve my presentation
Hello again Michael…I get so much from these lessons, especially just in watching you draw…Thank you!
Thank you AlabasterRhumb for your great comment. It's nice to know. Michael
Thank you for today’s lesson, Mr. Coxon. I am starting to love sketching more and more now. And yes the shading technique does add mystery and depth to your subjects. This lesson is really helpful .

Hi viewer, If you like feel free to share the project either in the comments section here or my Facebook channel. I'd love to see your work. And thank you for watching
Challenge accepted! But very nervous about revealing my work 🫢.
Hi Lindsay, Thank you for your reply. As an art teacher let me just say that there is no nicer feeling than to have an influence on a student's improvement in their art. That's how I know I'm getting it right. My dream is that when my channel grows a bit more That we can have a community where we can share our work and help each other. When you are ready you can show me some of your work. (several examples would be good) Don't be nervous, it's not a competition.
Hi Lindsay, I just received an email from Lindsay Weirich. I wanted to confirm is that you? Please let me know as I'd love to know how you are progressing in your art.
This tutorial is incredibly helpful Mr. Coxon. You are taking the fear out of starting a drawing with practical guidelines and locating shapes within your model. I really liked the idea of drawing the model first then adding a different background that explains your story. Thank you also for painting this tutorial, Lindsay
Thank you for your helpful comment Lindsay. I'll be making more of this kind of lesson where we look at the various reference points and landmarks on the figure. Keep up your practice, persistence and patience!
Learn the Basics of figure drawing with this simple grid system. I'll introduce some gentle colour towards the end.
I enjoy your instruction Thanks for posting them
Thank you lilybay. It means a lot
❤
Thanks for that it means a lot
Such an interesting introduction, you have a remarkable history in art. Like so many of us you had discouraging times and also some magical times. Thank you for a great channel, may I also add a beautiful wife.
Thank you Lindsay. I thought I'd start to include some elements of "my story" I was very lucky that day I saw the painting when I was 12. It gave me direction, But some people don't find their purpose. I hope I can Inspire them that "it's never too late to find and follow your dream". WE've been married for 45 years and I am grateful every day. Thank you.
I do love the stick figures more than jumping into a finished figure that I find is not placed correctly or the figure is too large or small. Erasing a stick figure is less “ painful “. This is a wonderful tutorial Mr. Coxon.
Thank you for your comment Lindsay. The beauty of drawing stick figures it's almost like scribbling. It keeps you loose. It's a bit like when you are learning to drive you're all over the place and stiff. But later driving is easy. That's how your drawing will become, free and loose.
Hi There viewer, This is an introduction to my Channel. In here you'll find many lessons about how to draw and paint. These lessons will be helpful to beginners and intermediate level artists.
Thanks for It.
Many thanks for your comment
great video
Thanks for your comment @benzene_sandwhich
Yes Mr. Coxon, I really like this tutorial. My personal goal in following your instructions is to be capable of capturing the human face and turn that face at any angle. This was lovely to watch and learn from, many thanks. Lindsay
Thank you for your comment Lindsay. I'll keep working to make video lessons which I hope are helpful and valuable.
Hi there Lindsay. Please accept my apology the Intro video you commented on was the wrong video. I uploaded it by mistake. I'm sorry for that. I'm still trying to get used to this UA-cam thing (I'm a bit analog!) The proper video is now up if you want to check it out.
Thank you so much
Thank you Ganapathym ( I hope I got that right) for your comment. I will make further video lessons on how to draw the head at any angle. At the moment I'm working on drawing the same figure from different viewpoints
@@michaelcoxontokyo Very helpful for me for 3D modeling. Thank you for giving heed to my plead.
We are here whenever you post! Thanks
Thanks for your warm and encouraging comment. I'll try my best
Hi there @lilybay, I'm not sure if you saw my "Channel Intro" video the other day. It was the wrong video, I uploaded it by mistake . Deleted it as soon as I saw my error. The Correct video is now uploaded. Thanks
