There are a few specific goals of TravelTowner:
1. To take fun POV (“Point-of-View”) videos of scenic drives, highways, and roadways so you can virtually travel anywhere you like; or look back at a time when you were younger.
2. Document a fun walking tour of a specific park, attraction, or point of interest so you can see what's it's like to really be there.
3. Showcase vintage footage from yesteryear to show today's viewers what is may have been like back in 19- something something! If you have any vintage footage from the past please contact me- I'd love to feature it here on the channel.
As more roadway drives, walking tours, and vintage trips are added, it builds history so future viewers can go “back in time” and see what it was like, back then.
Please like the videos and subscribe to the channel. Leaving comments is a great way to tell ME what you’d like to see next!

Milwaukee Road 🚂 Train Ride POV Trip 🎡 Arnolds Park
Let's take a POV trip on the Train Rida at Arnold's Park in Iowa!
Arnold's Park Amusement Park, located in Okoboji, Iowa, is one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States. Established in 1889, it has long been a favorite destination for tourists and locals alike, providing a variety of family-friendly attractions and entertainment options. Over the years, Arnold's Park has maintained its charm while adding new features that enhance the visitor experience, making it a must-visit spot in the Iowa Great Lakes region. Arnold's Park has a rich history that began in the late 19th century when Wesley Arnold, the park's namesake, first opened the doors to this lakeside attraction. Initially, the park offered simple recreation options, but over time, it expanded to include iconic rides, games, and live entertainment. The park's wooden roller coaster, "The Legend," opened in 1930 and remains one of the oldest operating wooden roller coasters in the world. In addition to traditional amusement park offerings, Arnold's Park has consistently evolved to accommodate modern tastes while preserving its historical roots.
Among the park's beloved attractions is the "The Milwaukee Road" train ride, a family-friendly miniature train that takes passengers on a scenic loop around part of the park. This attraction, specifically designed to be enjoyed by visitors of all ages, has become one of the park’s most iconic rides.
The Railroad has a long-standing history at Arnold's Park and has been a staple of the amusement park experience for many years. The train, with its classic locomotive design, provides a leisurely and scenic ride that offers views of the park’s attractions and the surrounding landscape. Its small size and moderate pace make it especially appealing for younger children and families who want to enjoy a relaxing and scenic tour through the park. The railroad was originally named the “Long Lines Railroad,” coming from the sponsorship received from the Long Lines Telephone Company. The Milwaukee Road a key part of the park's atmosphere, representing the historical connection between small, regional attractions and local businesses.
Passengers board the miniature train at a dedicated station before embarking on a loop that showcases parts of the park, including areas near the famous roller coasters, the lake, and other attractions. The experience offers a chance to relax and take in the park from a different perspective, moving through scenic pathways that highlight both the natural beauty of the park’s setting and its amusement offerings. The leisurely pace of the train allows visitors to take in the sights at their own pace, while enjoying a nostalgic ride that has been a part of Arnold's Park for decades.
While the Long Lines Railroad is a central attraction, Arnold's Park offers a variety of other rides and entertainment options. "The Legend" roller coaster is a major draw for thrill-seekers, while other classic rides like the Ferris wheel and bumper cars provide fun for visitors of all ages. In addition, the park features live music performances at its outdoor stage, an arcade, and games for all skill levels. Nearby, visitors can explore the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum, which offers an in-depth look at the region’s history and culture. Today, Arnold's Park is more than just an amusement park. It has become a centerpiece of the Iowa Great Lakes community, attracting thousands of visitors every year. The park plays a central role in local events, including summer festivals and live concerts, making it an essential part of the region’s tourism economy.

Another big part of the channel is to document a piece of Americana… at a certain point in time. Wouldn’t it be cool to go back to where you lived, 20 or 30 years ago, and take a ride through your hometown? As more roadway drives, walking tours, and vintage trips are added, it builds history so future viewers can go “back in time” and see what it was like, back then.
Roadtripping and traveling are uniquely American pastimes- and we should preserve it’s history- so future generations can appreciate the Freedom of the Road.

I grew up on 102nd Street. We moved to Rochester in January of 1971 before anyone imagined what was to come. It was a wonderful neighborhood to grow up in. The 50's and 60's was a whole different world.
21:49 my Great Grandmother lived on this street
Beautiful video…but the music was not relaxing. Anything by Kerani, or liquid mind would have been a better pick😊
Fantastic!!!!
Thank you so much- glad you enjoyed it! :)
So cool to see Splash Mountain under construction, will never be not mad about its removal
Right? I appreciate your reaction and comment- thank you!
I remember my peaceful years living in this town. It was a great migration from the city 🏙️.
So glad you have great memories of this- thank you for watching!
Can you please make a video about James river bridge ua-cam.com/video/yJNi19VFm_E/v-deo.htmlsi=8utXPgq09WTyyO8c
can you make a video about Bridges / Connecticut? I love you Videos.
Thank you so much! As the channel is still relatively small and I must fund it myself- I can only take videos where my travels take me- at the moment. Hopefully I gain many subscribers and can transition into more full-time- I would love that, too! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it!
Nice music
Thanks- I appreciate you watching and commenting!
What brand makes the car?
What brand is the car?
The car I am filming from? A minivan- ha! :) Thanks for watching!
Ich liebe diesen Park, großartig.
Love it! Thank you! :)
I think this was the year I went with some cousins and we got to eat at club 33 and I remember Splash mountain in construction. I started going in the 60s so I was in my late 20s already. What wonderful time. Things are not thar great there today.
Such great memories! I'm so glad you watch and commented- I really appreciate it. Thank you! :)
2 laps = 1 mile 🙂
Will always be home.
Glad I could take you back- thanks for watching! :)
Wow thanks so much for posting this!!
Absolutely- glad you enjoyed! Thank you for watching. :)
I biked around here numerous times in the late 70’s when it was closed for the weekends for cars. I used to bird watch here as well. Watching this takes me back. I had to put on .25. Speed and mute the volume.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting- i really appreciate it!
I love the Party Gras! I wish I saw this one too!
a great parade!
I'm so glad for the new bridge.
Love the new bridge!
they really need to fix their railroad crossing signals.
I think they really struggle financially- that could be a big piece of that. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! :)
I wish Roger Rabbit would come back to Walt Disney World and do meet and greets again!
If only! I wonder if people today would remember- haha! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
@@TravelTowner You’re welcome!
Is it cold?
It was summer- so not that bad. Just VERY WET! 😆
Thank you for making this. For years I've owned a "Bathing Privilege" Bay Shore Park ticket set into a glass paperweight, given to me by my grandmother who was born in 1912. She never told me what was special about it. Interesting to think that maybe it was her first date with my grandfather, and they stopped at the trolley station that is now a picnic table pavilion.
That's fascinating! I wish there was more documention/ pics of this place back in the heydey. Thanks so much for sharing and watching!
Hi. If you know, how much more time would it possibly add on to the drive if instead of taking R17 off of Interstate 95, one would continue on 95 to Rt 16 to Savannah.
It would be a shorter travel time as you are directly on the Interstates- but probably less interesting! Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it!
I miss that kind of monorail don't like the design of today's
definitely different times now...
fantastic, thanks!
glad you liked! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Greetings from Türkiye and thank you very much for this perfect video♡ Also much thanks for the classical music♡ The city looks very clean and tidy♧ but why were there so few people? Was it early morning?
Thank you for watching! Always love to see worldwide views of the USA. This was on a weekend, therefore not many people walking around downtown. I really appreciate you commenting- thank you! 😀
Thanks for posting. Great to watch a video with info and a nice tune!😎
So glad you enjoyed the trip- I really appreciate you watching and commenting. Thank you! :)
Why this music? My Dad built the original bridge! I loved that old thing!
Glad this brought back some memories for you! I've tried videos with natural sound, but the wind and traffic sounds just weren't pleasant. Silent is too awkward- therefore; music. Thank you! :)
I drove by that abandoned area. It was something to see. No people around. I learned about the canal in college.
It is indeed a very strange vibe here. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😃
@ 19:54 you drove past my house corner of Kenwood Ave and Akron, thanks for that.
Glad I was able to pass by- than you so much for watching and commenting! :)
When you did the video on driving North Point Rd.,I was curious if you knew of an old bridge either trestle or suspension, that was on North Point rd.? I think.it was closed to traffic around 1980.
I'm sorry I do not- but that doesn't mean it wasn't there- haha! Thank you for watching!
I managed the Domino's Pizza on Kenwood Ave. back in 1990. Rosedale was an interesting place. Good memories.
Glad this video brought back good memories for you- thank you!
If you listen closely to the music between 4:32-4:38, it sounds like the Jeopardy theme, btw I love this bridge
I hope there is no copyright strike- haha! Thank you for watching!
MILLIONS SPENT ON MAKING IT. walkable Olean and no walkers!
I just went through a few weeks ago and it looks great. But yeah wasnt very lively. Prob because no one has any money to eat out these days.
Music to go over one long ass bridge by.
😂😂
Disneyland 1955 ua-cam.com/video/NyRB6DMg7FE/v-deo.htmlsi=0tiYXtnILTg6D8q_
It's too bad that they replaced the old bridge with an ugly, boring concrete bridge....obviously they had to replace the old one, but still....
agreed - it's not very inspired, but it does the job safely!
They had to fit it under budget. Apparently it was supposed to have a bike and walking path like the WW bridge but that was cut out.
I’m 17 I used to live here many years ago, I moved to Florida in 2015 live there for 5 years
I was 7 at the time. Disneyland has surely changed over time. Not sure if it’s for the better or worse?
some better- some worse. Back then there was no nickel-and-diming the guests for sure.
We were there last weekend for our 23rd wedding anniversary. Beautiful city
Love this city! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the tour! I'm curious about Springfield's public transportation network. Can folks easily commute by taking the city bus routes, or on their bicycle?
Thanks so much for commenting! Unfortunately I cannot speak to the transportation as I had a car on this trip. Thank you for watching. :)
Summer of 88 was Amazing, I was 16.. hanging out with friends, the music was awesome. I visited disneyland twice that year.
So glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching!
Lots of those people in the crowd may not be with us anymore, kids in the strollers are now in their upper 30's to early 40's and that place still looks the same.
That's the weird thing to think about for sure! Thank you for watching!
I most probably was working Guest Control out of the Emporium for this MSEP. “If you’d like to watch the parade please move to the INSIDE of the ropes. We need to keep the sidewalk clear. Thank you!” 😜👍🏼😎
So true! Thank you for watching and commenting- I really appreciate that!
For comments about the music- I feel ya! However- some of the original audio in the Disneyland Background triggered the UA-cam copyright bots. Rather than have silent video, I overlaid some copyright-free music to compensate/blur the audio. I really wish it ALL was original background sounds and music- but UA-cam ain't havin' it. Sorry about that! 😀
Would’ve been better without your music. We like the audio of the actual park.
Thanks for commenting! Unfortunately, the original upload- with original background music- got a copyright strike. I had to balance it thanks to the UA-cam overlords. Thank you for watching!
Loved this so much! Although super sad to see those poor horses pulling all of those people on that streetcar in the SoCal heat 😢
I was 10 in 1988, living in Glendale and must-have been to Disneyland a dozen times. Some of my favourite memories of all time were at Disneyland ❤
My childhood and early adult years were spent growing up at loch raven. My grandparents lived in the old white house on the hill between the big and little damns. Pop was the head of the watershed and it was the most amazing place on earth to call home! Sadly they tore the old place down and all my elders have since passed away but we will always have our memories of Loch Raven
Glad I was able to help bring back some memories for you- thank you for watching!
I read this description and I’m already trilled.
This old bridge is very scary. But the new bridge is much better I feel a lot safer on that one. The toll now has gone from $4.00 to $9.00 . No toll booth their cameras take beautiful pictures as you are crossing the bridge and your toll fee is mailed to you!!!!
The new bridge is a HUGE improvement. Thanks so much for watching and commenting- I really appreciate it! :)
