I haven't yet watched this tutorial, it's on my watchlist, so sorry if you have answered the question in the video, but I'd like to know can I make some kind of furniture design in FreeCAD and then export that file to some format which can be used by companies that are doing woodworking with machinery? Thanks!
I think aluminum windows and doors tutorial would be nice (half capentry/half mechanic). Their sections are quite complex and several components that we can learn a lot through the FreeCAD process. Anyway, love your channel. 😘😘😘
17:45 ???? Object selection panel....!!! from what command???
Control-C open this dialog box.
Where can I buy it??
I'm so happy I've found here real, practical and advanced use of FreeCAD. Some overview at the begining would be nice. Just a few words, why do you single sketch, what's the aim of calculations...
You must use more mirror and array command instead repeat the same operation for each piece
I wanted a clear parts list. Since mirrors and arrays aren't available in the Assembly Workbench, using them in the Part Workbench would have resulted in a distorted and inaccurate quantity list.
The absence of something like OpenCutList is the only reason I haven’t fully switched toFreeCAD yet. Good work; keep it up!
Awesome. I love these full tutorials. Was able to follow all the way through, without issues. I had never used the downgrade tool, or BIM workbench until now. Very useful. I had to slow down the bonus section to 0.25x speed in order to follow. Glad you recorded at a high enough framerate. I look forward to more full tutorials. House design would be interesting.
10:21 is there a way to omit this redrawing that we did already ?
I believe there is a function within FreeCAD's link branch that can directly transform an external geometry into a workable line, eliminating the need for manual retracing.
AI is terrible to listen to
This is amazing!!! Thank You!
Is the part workbench also parametric?
Maybe use some software that shows your keystrokes on screen when recording will help viewers. Great video.
Thank you, I'll see what I can do.
You can use the MultiTransform to do both linear pattern and mirror in PartDesignWB.
It seems the Linux Freecad 1.0 does not have the native assembly workbench... :(
@justinahrens1868 The Linux Freecad 1.0 has the new assembly workbench. I'm on PopOS and it runs perfectly.
10:43 i would like to see workflow improvements.. extreme amount of hand job, there is must be some better way of doing repetitive tasks! oh and use _cos_ ofc...
Keep it up. You are a gifted and skilled teacher.
excellent presentation and techniques! I would've dream of freecad tutorials with this quality when I was learning it a decade ago!
I love your chanel. Thanks for these tutos.
Thank you :)
Very interesting as you covered the use of Freecad that I have not seen elsewhere - thanks
Carpentry for sure
Thank you very much. I would be interested in carpentry.
Thank you, do you have any specific topics in mind?
@@deltahedra3D Maybe some japanese joinery, a garden shed, a kitchen or a tool storage chest with fancy edge profiles and curves. I hope I could give you an idea and I look forward to future projects from your channel. I think you are very unique in the way you present your tutorials. Thank you again!
Very nice!
Did you know that it is also possible to create rendered animations in FreeCAD with the Movie Workbench?
Thank you for this excellent tutorial
Back with more comments ... don't you want a small gap between the male and female pieces so that they can go together ... I am talking somewhere around 0.008" or .2 mm.
@carlslater7492 Yes, you can add a small gap. After performing the Boolean cut, make a very slight scale change. I didn't want to overcomplicate the file.
Great example on making a static assembly with the new FreeCAD Assembly workbench.
Thank you :)
Thank you for these tutorials. It makes Freecad less intimidating for me
@ravenslikewritingdesks You're welcome. Don't let the initial learning curve discourage you. FreeCAD is a versatile tool with a lot of potential, and with practice, you'll be able to harness its full power.
Is it also okay to use varset instead of spreadsheet in the cabinet tutorial?
@ravenslikewritingdesks Yes, you can use varset as an alternative. Both methods are effective, but spreadsheets can be particularly useful when dealing with numerous or intricate formulas.
Enfin un vrai tutoriel sur ce module Assembly. C'est clair et logique et compréhensible. Bravo, je me suis abonné et j'attends la suite :p
Merci l'ami et bienvenue :)
Great! You are gifted.
Amazing!! I would like to learn how render in blender after modelling in Freecad. I will be grateful if you could share. You teach very precisely. Thank you.
Blender its easier than you think
That wasn't much of a tutorial, it was more like me and see how good I am. You did not explain a single detail. Many of us are beginners and really dumb.
I‘m blown away! You have a new subscriber.
Thank you and welcome :)
The content is good but I can't handle the AI generated voice. I'd rather hear somebody speaking broken English than this.
That's because he's either Indian or Pakistani and can't speak english go see mangogelly.
Too bad there's no FreeCAD macro to add various joints to existing designs. Would be cool for 3D printing. I know Orca has basic joints support.
Would love to see a tutorial on how you do the intro animations with textures. I'm guessing you do those in Blender?
I would like to see how to create a cutting list with dimensions in the parts list, is this possible?
me too
Why do furniture and woodworkers use SketchUp ????
It‘s extremely easy to learn
How did you animate the columns at the beginning ?thanks
@Alexis-br4oh I use Blender for making the animation and the render at the beginning.
@ Thanks for the response, do you know if free cad v1 completely fix the TNP problem for fully parametric object. I want to use FreeCAD to create a complex object from A to Z with only parametric variables and then export it to Ansa to mesh it for CFD application. That’s for the context Moreover I would need to use a define name surface in Ansa to mesh it properly and automatically that is why the name is really important before exporting
Nice. A few comments: The popup window for the VarSet is asking you to add properties, exactly what you did immediately after. It can be helpful to select the VarSet to show the list in the data view while using it. You can also use the Group field to group your variables, e.g. for board or joint parameters. You can perform an Array followed by Mirror in Part Design, in this case by setting the Mirror Transform Mode to Transform body to mirror the entire body rather than the latest feature. You could also draw the full length of the board and both array and mirror the pocket in one MultiTransform. I'm guessing the origin based formulae to reference the opposing edge are meant to avoid inversions if you make big changes (e.g. having the socket appear outside the board). It makes me wonder why you didn't just start from the bottom though. Another option is to offset the sketch attachment. Still educational; I hadn't realized FreeCAD's Part boolean operations only allowed 2 objects. Part Design's body boolean can use multiple tool bodies for one cut.
@0LoneTech Thank you for your feedback. You are correct that your proposed workflow would streamline and expedite the creation of the mirrored array within the Part Design workbench. This approach is particularly beneficial for users transitioning from alternative software. I close the first varset dialog box, because it places the first property at the bottom of the list of variables and I wanted to have them in an alphabetic order.
Really really great.
Thank you :)
Awesome tutorials. Have you got any suggested technical lecture to learn more about cabinetry?
@IlVanza Thank you, I can recommend you the Bob Lang's The Complete Kitchen Cabinetmaker which is very good.
@@deltahedra3D Super gentle!! Looking forward for some other awesome parametric ideas!
How can you send the program to a cnc router
I'm craving for a tutorial for raytracing this assembly in Blender. It's amazing how much Freecad has progressed. It almost feature wise with the tool that I use (Spaceclaim). The rendering is a bit primitive comparted to the one in Spaceclaim, Solidworks, etc
With the part list, is it possible to make a cutting list: images.app.goo.gl/ZZ1hBJmCA1nMyx9z9 ???
Awesome. One of the best tutorials I've seen for any CAD software. I only had one issue constraining the second "circle" in the assembly as demonstrated. Was able to solve it another way. I textured it in Blender afterward, and it looks awesome. Thanks for the high quality content.
@sethg7897 Thank you. I also rely on Blender for the visualization of my work. The combined use of FreeCAD and Blender offers a remarkably efficient workflow for our fields.
Great demo of freecad, that actually shows how to do something. Instead of just creating one part. Fantastic! 👍
Thank you :)
This barely uses the assembly workbench as a snap tool, and uses magical numbers and redone work all over. The naming scheme is bad for adjustments and sometimes skipped entirely ("the Sketch003"). Rather missing the point of parametric CAD. Just consider how much work this model requires if you want to make the bench 15cm shorter.
My primary goal wasn't to create a fully parametric pergola. Instead, I modeled it in a way that mirrored the actual construction process, taking into account the specific dimensions (thickness, length, and width) of the available lumber. Excluding the central circle would significantly simplify a parametric approach. To shorten the bench, simply adjust the value in the initial master sketch and potentially modify the number of planks in the path array for significant reductions. However, altering the height or width would be more complex due to the fixed values associated with the circle and deck array.
If you're curious about creating an assembly using the new native assembly workbench, which can generate an exploded view and an automatic parts list, take a look at this new video at ua-cam.com/video/k51YFdXIIek/v-deo.html.
