Before the damage is finished the effect to return it to hand activates first. Then after it returns to your hand there is no target and the attack is cancelled in a sense but the character remains tapped for declaring to attack

@@ConereNetwork The problem with that is, if they slam down a hody and rest two of your don, you lose. If you kaya to leave yourself with 2 cards in deck and 3 don up, even a hody can't win them the game as you can just gavel the last two cards. It's not a popular card in Perona obviously haha but playing kaya removes any doubt of a loss in that scenario.
