Christmas in Portugal is magical, even in the poorest towns. There is something special about the Portuguese soul and imbedded in their DNA. Even in the poorest families, Christmas is celebrated with great love and joy. There may not be expensive or numerous gifts, but the love and joy imbedded in the spirit the spirit is palpable.

Too cool. Learned some stuff today. One correction though... Amalia Rodrigues wasn't born in Alfama, but in Campo Santana, a kind of secret neighborhood on top of a steep hill sandwiched in between Avenida da Liberdade and Avenida Almirante Reis in Lisbon, aka between the blue and green metro lines on the map. Campo Santana is in the downtown district, but because of its geography, hidden above the Rossio, few tourists dare to venture up the hill. If you trek up the Calçada de Santana, you will come across a corner store with an old, weathered sign claiming that Luis de Camōes, Portugal's greatest poet, died in that house in 1580. And around the corner, in a narrow lane, is where you will find an unassuming sign on a humble abode, stating that in the patio of this house, Amalia Rodrigues was born. So, two of Portugal's greatest artists, died and were born, a short distance from one another, yet centuries apart. Great video. Cool channel. Cheers from 🇨🇦.
