    I've been making German chocolate cake for many years and never frosted it with canned chocolate frosting. Also the canned coconut filling is not good. I believe once you have the real deal you won't want anything else. This cake looks good just not how I would make it.

    I’m eating homemade pinto beans and fried potatoes with cornbread as I watch this. Haha. We make it a little different but very similar. Such a good, comforting meal.

    Never rest your thermometer in your pot. It's resting on the hot steel of the pot's bottom, ot in your jam, and gives you inaccurate readings. In time it will destroy your thermometer's internal balance mechanism. If you use a thermometer, make sure you hold it in the liquid you're cooking, until it reads. C'mon ladies, don't slack! You risk ruining your entire batch of candy/jam if you can't hold onto your thermometer long enough (seconds) to take a proper measurement. I don't know about everybody else, but in these times of prepping, storing goods, and being food secure, I can't afford to destroy an entire batch of jarred goods $$$$$$.

    Just turn the cake upside down, the bottom if flat and the weight of the frosting will even it all out as it sets.

    I hot water can, everything. Pints and half pints ten minutes. I also pull the jars out of the canner all at one time to allow them to dry properly. Then, I pour the product in them. Put the lids and bands on them and process them in the canner. Specialty jams and jelly I put in half pint jars. Standard apple and grape I put in pint jars. I have to work fast to get the jelly in the jars before it starts to cool off, so I have everything close by and ready to go when I start pouring it into the jars. My big canner will process a flat of half pints and a half a flat of pints. I fill every jar and use all of the product. I always keep several half pint jars for any overflow that I might have. They will go into the canner with the other jars and are processed the same way.. I usually put them outside to cool before they go back in their flat. As soon as they are cool enough to handle. I tighten the bands and write on the lid what they are, the date they were canned and my initials. I am going to increase my grape batch size to 8C of juice, 9.5 C of sugar and two boxes of Sure Jell.

    How much salt do you add to the corn meal? I never seem to get enough salt in mine.

    • @SALINASWORLD
      @SALINASWORLD 3 роки тому

      I would use 1 1/2 tsp of salt, then if that is not enough salt a little again as it comes out from cooking while it is still hot. Hope that helps.
