Troop 99 from McKinleyville CA. Our August backpacking trip to Boulder Lake and Little Boulder Lake. Some rookie scout conversations, swimming, and fishing.

Episode Three of our annual Boy Scout rafting trip for Troop 99 from McKinleyville CA. We are on the North Umpqua River in Oregon for five days of camping and three days on the river. We repeated Section TWO because of low water on Section Four...we didn't want to portage the large raft.

Troop 99 kicks off our summer 2024 backpacking season with four days at Dead Falls Lake and an out-n-back to Mnt Eddy. Large brook trout at the lake, deer in camp, and 50 MPH wind and sleet the night before we hike out.

Humboldt County Young Life leaders, committee, and staff take two days to enjoy ESCOT Farms retreat center on the South Fork of the Trinity River. Jakob and the team prep for summer camp at Woodleaf, and we all enjoy the 70-degree sunshine in Sayler CA.

Our last full day in Alaska we tossed a line in at Ship Creek again for some catch and release...except we kept one. Dinner at ORSO and an early morning departure the next day.

We find reasons to be in Whittier Alaska!!!! The hike to Portage Pass with views of the Portage Glacier, and Emerald Cove and spawned-out salmon. Plus we met an Aussi sailor on her way between the US, Canada, Iceland, Greenland, and beyond.

@@WalterBoring Agreed. 60 plus years of sediment and heavy minerals all flowing down steam into the ocen is depleating oxygen levels, increasing water temperature and leaving/"coating" spawning areas with particulates that do not wash all the way to the ocean. Someone made a lot on money on this fiasco.
