Looking forward to tyranids

With Orks it is boys over toys. Your escorts are your main damage dealers. 5 of them have way more firepower than a single krooza. They are harder to hit as escorts and have more shields. Bombers attack ships. That means the wave of bombers have to split up when attacking escorts and escorts can combine their turrets with ships in basecontact. It is hard to face 7 kroozas; but face 3 Krooza and 20 to 30 escorts.(20× D6+1 Gunz. That hurts even Necrons...) Nobody has the firepower to shoot them all down while your kroozas do their thing. And your opponent can't hide from that much ships. You are everywhere...

Finally some proppa fleet for a proppa gitz.

AAF turn one! Terrorships are basically a 30pt upgrade for killkroozers. I'd take that upgrade lotz of times out of more lotz. ☺️ Be aware that they can launch assualt boats, this might be enough to force your opponent to counter with fighters, saving you from having to deal with their bombers. When ramming with brute rams, do it first thing in your movement phase as if they die they'll take a shield down. Now you can move the rest of your fleet in for the kill. (This works for any escort ramming, it's usually not worth it though)

The most competitive fleets I've seen contained majority Nightshades. If I were making a starter fleet, I'd have at least 3 squadrons of 5. Nightshades sidestep the downside of combining torpedoes as they have a 2nd move. They have better leadership for rerolls than most fleets. Torpedoes having stealth means you can forgo combining a salvo and still be effective. Rerolls to hit are more pronounced against 6+ armour. A third should get through. As a personal preference (not really competetive) I'd add an aconite and hellebore to each nightshade squadron, it gives them useable firepower if the torps are ineffective). It must be noted that the hellebore and aconite are slightly slower than the nightshade in slower sunward arcs.

Wow...Solaris least useful? I love to run 2 of them. I pair each one with a 3 or 4 strong squadron of Hemlocks. The Solaris has the same speed profile as the Hemlock. Solaris activates first to knock down shields followed by the Hemlock lances! I usually don't bother with Hellebores or Aconites, they're just too expensive for such fragile ships. I would agree with everything else you said. I've enjoyed all of your content so far. Keep it going!

I actually have the old Space Fleet game. We even made a 4 level plexiglass table and made rules for adding 3D to the game. Good times. But i like BFG so much more!

Chaos is indeed a nice fleet to play. There are three cores you have for the fleet. Which can be used as such but also be used a template to deviate from to suit your taste.

I got into this game when it originally released. To this day I would put BFG in my top 3 games list. So glad I never got rid of any of the collection I put together.

As for the Imperial Navy: the biggest problem is actually that they have to many options. If you really want to learn how the core Imperial Navy fleet plays use the Gothic fleet list.
