i think... THERE NEED TO BE A SURVIVAL RECIPE AND THIS IS AMAZING, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR A LONG TIME
15:31, there is a workaround for flickering xor memory as well, one way would be to just use selfwired xor gates or just add an and gate to every bit and activate it with a circuit that detects if the three xors aren't equal, or just activate it everytime a creation respawns with a spawn detection circuit, its just three gates connected to each other in a line(not a loop), and the second and third gates are any not gate. This reliably produces a single tick output upon spawning but if you want a pulse, just put a timer between the not gates. The xor memory is 3 bits long so the formatting And that takes input from xor and outputs to the xor right behind it, needs a three tick pulse input from this spawn detector. Your data is lost but your memory is fixed. With just n+4 more gates where n is number of bits.
Those are very interesting ideas, have you tested them out? The issue isn't really only indeterminate logic states on spawn. When a logic block spawns in, the actual logic gate may reset to an AND gate, and may take a few ticks before becoming the correct gate. This means that any and all logic circuits are susceptible to being "corrupted". It seems to be just Scrap Mechanic jank unfortunately, and I haven't been able to isolate if and when it happens. Spawning from a lift also seems to be a little different than re-spawning a creation the way I did, but that's just my observation. But if your technique works reliably regardless of creation complexity/size, do share it with the community, perhaps as a workshop item, I'll even link to it.

Pretty well done and great mod! Besides the limitations is really useful and neat, specially how close you got with that vanilla feel of the block. I like to think that, besides the whole explanation on why the Auto Welder has problems with other components, in game the auto welder sparks and electricity produces short circuits that reset or glitch out any logic gates.

Yes, Kan ran across a similar physics issue with a floating raft. The game seems to simplify identicle blocks on the same body for physics calculations at least using rectangles if not more. So for example a sheet of bubble blocks will float like a point of floaty material, at its center point. Separating the rectangle by cutting, using different materials, or just painting gives the expected results, but presumably is bad for performance.

10:50 So to be clear is a "superficial weld" is it a weld that is simple enough that you dont need to reload the creation to do it, it is NOT just the animation playing but nothing happening? OMG, this is amazing! A huge success! I am surprised that you can so seamlessly delete a creation and reload a new one, transferring users to new seats. This would work in multiplayer with multiple seat users?
A "superficial weld" is just animation at 10:50 because those glass blocks are already part of the same creation body as the auto welder, so a creation respawn is not required. But lets say if you delete the glass block diagonal to the auto welder after the superficial weld, the glass block directly above the auto welder will not become disconnected, unless you turn of the auto welder. I hope this answers your question.

I'm more impressed with those complex uses for it than the mod itself lol, mind was blown when you fully assembled a cube! Anyways this mod seems super useful, hope its available in survival... Gonna play when chapter 2 or whatever next big update is with friends. Though might be a few years from now who knows

Can't switches be used as reliable persistent memory? I mean we've seen earlier that their state persists and doesn't bug out, and although a bit clunky you can toggle one with a spud gun. Can somebody test this?

This is absolutly incredible. Now what we are missing to build a full on automated factory, is something that places parts and another thing to make connections
well, at least the vacuum pump places blocks, but yes, we very much need a auto connect tool next!
Is it craftable in survival?
The auto welder is in the ModDatabase, hence any custom game modes (such as Modded Craftbot Recipes) that use it should have the recipe.
You should just be a SM dev.

Bro, here's an idea (if you read the comments). Add a certain block-“mark” for the mod so that it realizes that it is not worth to remove the structure yet, because for example on missiles, bombs, etc. autonomous objects is hard to add a seat. Yes, it can be fixed by simply turning the timer on say a minute, in the realities of Scrap Mechanic loading this will be enough, but still. (Just as an idea for you)

Use multiple auto welders. How did you think the cube assembler works? There are no auto welders on the panels themselves.

I've wanted something like this for so long! In my survival world I always park my vehicles by welding off the ground for performance, this is exactly the block I need to do that as I pull up to park instead of having to manually grab my vehicle and weld it. Thank you so much!!!
I'd imagine using the auto welder to weld the vehicles to a decently large base would be pretty bad for performance, as the entire creation is respawned. Or I guess you could just have some platforms connected to the ground and weld vehicles to the individual platforms
