I may be a quadriplegic, but I roll wherever life takes me. Except stairs.
In September of 1997, I became a quadriplegic after being diagnosed with Hopkins Syndrome. I now share my thoughts and experiences as a person with a disability Check back for updates!

Hello! I know this is an older video but I still wanted to leave a comment. Thank you for your videos, I myself am not disabled but your content has helped me to better understand disability and take those with physical limitations into consideration. Your honesty and attitude towards your condition is eye opening ⭐️
100%. If we could remain seated and positioned in our chairs aboard the aircraft this would largely be a non-issue. I travel 1-2x per month by air and have a spare Permobil M3 exclusively for air travel. Scootaround and Global Repair Group often liase between the airlines and your DME but don’t be shy asking for the “complaint resolution officer” (CRO) who has additional training on the air carrier access act and is often afforded broader discretion to resolve your concerns. Also every single time take photos before leaving the chair, even a video stating “I am at ORD at the United counter this is my Permobil M3 on [date]”. Always test all actuators and seat functions upon arrival and report before leaving the airport
Wishing you well
Yo! Long time nothing seen here
Best wishes friend
Lucky to be alive
Dude, you are awesome. Keep your head up.
Polio has a vaccine. Where u vaccinated as a kid?i was given a vaccine as a kid,i still have the scare, i was also given a vaccine were u have to swallow it. It was bitter
wish you all the best!
Thanks. Appreciate the support!
Being disabled comes with a plethora of things to deal with in public, and alcohol adds a whole other element. Sorry for your unpleasant encounter!
appreciate U
Thanks
Prayers. RESPECT
My you're a really handsome young man. I will be watching your videos now that I have found You. You Take Care and Stay Safe. Thanx for doing these video's. Be A HAPPY YOU !
What a gentle soul, who told his story with such grace and humility. . .❤
I admire you for your patiens.
Hi, Gabe! My name is Cheryl. Wow, what an amazing story! I’m so sorry you’ve been through so much while still so young. I was in a wheelchair when I had Guillain-Barré, then again after Cauda Equina syndrome following a spinal injury. I currently use Lofstrand crutches or on a good day, a cane. I can see why they thought you might have Guillain-Barré - I remember them repeatedly poking needles in my legs when I couldn’t move them, until I reminded them, “I can still feel that, you know.” Apparently not many things affect just the motor neurons. But wow, you have been through so much and are just an amazing young man.
Hi Gabe. You seem like should a humble, awesome person with a fantastic outlook on life. I will be following your journey. God Bless
I am so sorry you experienced such a rude behavior but glad you managed to solve it. Most people wouldn’t demand their right to enjoy such a special moment. (I consider a concert a special moment) 💪
Thanks for the comment! It was definitely a weird situation all around.
I know it must have been very traumatic to have to get around in an electric wheelchair being only 15 years old
Thank you for sharing your story.
Awe sweety. You’re making up for it all now. Sorry I was so late finding your channel
Sorry to be so ignorant , but I'm English, and here in England we have a Polio jab when we're infants, which lasts a lifetime..do you have this in the USA too, and does it not cover the more rare Hopkins Polio? God bless you Sir x
Yes here in NZ too, polio sip I think it's called. Orally taken by mouth, not injected. . .
Yes, in the U.S. it is given to infants. Keep in mind some parents opt out and the vaccine may not prevent the infection in every child.
And in Australia, vaccinated as a child when Salk vaccine came available. No one had polio after that.
hey Gabe, Great speaker and a great voice. You should do radio. Thanks
Wow! What a story ? How are you dealing with asthma today, and will you ever get that kind of asthma attack again? Take care ..
I added you to my public Playlist "IN AN INSTANT" Thank you for sharing!
I'm glad I found your show. Your story is so interesting and you truly are an inspiration. It looks like this video was made two years ago so I have a lot to catch up on. 😊
This is the dumbest thing I’ve seen all day but I’ve only been awake for an hour, there’s time still. What exactly does he think he’s going to feel? A wire connected to something. Omg! There’s wires connected everywhere. It’s a frickin power wheelchair. 🤦🏼♀️ you gonna stow away a knife that you can miraculously take over the plane with from your SEAT??? 😂😂🙄
this is exactly how i feel going through tsa with a feeding tube like i literally don’t need it to SURVIVE 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
So we shouldn’t check them because they’re in the wheel chair?
@@dantekeener7639 that’s not what they meant. i just think there should be more consideration and consistency when handling those who have disabilities and need extra support when going through tsa. as a matter of fact, i am going to disney world this week so i’m flying and being pat down is just another occurrence for me in the airport.
@@kennedytfffSo what would you do differently, and what’s wrong with what they do now?
@@dantekeener7639 i don’t think i should get an unnecessary pat down. or anyone for that matter who has medical devices or issues.
Where are you? Do you still need help?
I am ok. I made it home
Wow you had to wait two hours. That’s crazy
It ended up being 4.5 hours.
AUUGGHH that stinks. They don’t have disabled busing where you are. To have to wait that long. Not cool.
They do but it’s unreliable.
@@gabetrujillo Seems like that’s the general problem. Either nothing available or sit around and wait.
Call the department of human resources that they can sent you somebody for disability.
I hope you made it home ok. It’s hard having a disability for many reasons. (I have one too) But the most important thing thing is that you got home safely.
I did, eventually. Thanks for checking.
@@gabetrujillo Glad to hear it!
Thanks for posting this. How did you get home?
I ended up finding a transportation company with an accessible van. Cost me $130.
*Promo SM*
Popped up somehow and I had a seat. That’s a damn crazy journey. I'll keep up.
Thanks! That was cool. Great background music too!
❤❤❤❤❤
Que rico yummy.
My friend...I think you are a lot further along than you give yourself credit. I actually have a couple of friends who are shy...painfully so, and would have a hard time not only meeting new people but also recording a video. You appear so well poised and conversant...I think you are an inspiration for not only others who might also be in wheelchairs but for people who are shy and have a hard time making friends. I think you'd be a wonderful role model...someone who is overcoming his fears and doing a great job as well. I applaud you.
This video precedes the plague of the century

Facts!
Good for you!
TSA is an agency of the Department of Homeland Security and was born from the events of 9/11.TSA was meant to be what it is today, a draconian agency there to POLICE the AMERICAN PEOPLE, not keep them safe. if u don't believe it go visit the open border and watch the millions of unvetted illegals pouring in
Hi mijo, your videos popped up on my feed and I wanted to say thank you soo much for sharing your story and your life, praying God uses your channel and you in a mighty and powerful way!!!
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed my content.
Good video. I used to be disabled and I can’t imagine that level of pain and suffering.
Being disabled does have its hard moments, but it’s not all bad all the time. For me, it’s all about perspective.
Never heard of this disease. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching. Have a great day!
So you had asthma, then basically got pneumonia, then one night you can't breathe so you get rushed into the ER where you go into a coma? And then you wake up 4 days later and you can't move? That seems odd. I've never heard of such a chain of events before. God speed.
Yeah, I was as surprised as you were. It was a frightening experience.
Another guy had a staph infection in his spine maybe the doctors missed an infection
