This video makes it more technical and requires higher level of precision to install. Scary stuff to get all the alignment close enough to make the ride correct. Is there any List of installers world wide? Of the USA/NYC area?

Look forward to more videos. I like the fact your kits are made for more modern sized chainrings which the likes of BBSHD and the new DM-01 cant compete with. Because of the weight there will be compromise and I expect parts to wear out sooner so spare parts availability at a good price will weigh in on purchase decision. Whats is the highest voltage battery pack we can run the offroad version at ? A 2000w version of similar design and twice the weight would be my preference due to more reliability and heat shedding. Either way it's good to see you make it to the other end with this project and I wish you all the success in future ones.
Thanks. Yes, there will be spare parts at a good price, but the wear won't come so soon: from our testing the life expectancy before changing any component is over 18'000 km.
€1,373.00 without battery (1,948.14 CAD) for the "High Torque" 90Nm, once you add the shift and brake sensors, program it for 1000 watts and doesn't appear to have a 72V option. A BBSHD with a high voltage BAC 855 controller will provide 3500 watts and over 200Nm of torque for €1,127.00 (1600 CAD) ... a CYC X1 Pro Gen 3 also generates 3500 watts, deliers 200+Nm of torque and costs €1,268.25 ($1800 CAD). Know your competition and either under price them or out perform them. Your product has done neither.
John, let's draw a fair comparison. Taking the unmodified motor as our benchmark: The BBSHD weighs a hefty 5kg or 12 pounds - that's three times the weight of the Lightest. It's notorious for chain derailments due to its problematic chainline. Moreover, it lacks a torque sensor, resulting in an unnatural push, regardless of your effort. This means frequent adjustment of the assist level, especially on mountainous terrain. Additionally, it's incompatible with a significant number of high-end full suspension bikes due to its awkward fit on curved downtubes, making it vulnerable to potential rock damage. The configuration you're proposing is suitable for someone looking for speed thrills on flat streets, with minimal gear shifting. However, it comes at the risk of potentially voiding the warranty and facing costly motor replacements. It's worth noting that the power figures you mentioned likely refer to input power, which can be quite different from actual output power... CYC comparison coming soon
@@lightestebikekit6200 I completely agree with the issues you highlighted about the stock BBSHD with the exception of reliability. If you recall I specifically mentioned the BBSHD with the High Voltage controller upgrade which eliminates the jerky start, allows you to safely run it at 3500 watts and has been proven by hundreds of DIY builders to be reliable (even with the nylon gear) for years / thousands of miles. The mounting amd clearance issues of the BBSHD is why I selected the CYC X1 pro. A 3500+ watt motor is absolutely a rush and 50 mph on a bike feels like 80 but the real thrill is the torque (250Nm) which makes it a hill climbing beast (or a wheelie machine). I have zero chain line issues with the CYC, clearance is exactly the same as my stock bike due to mounting it inside the tirangle and I use all my gears, it is a torque sensing motor and is amazing to pedal. Like I said, I really like the bike you chose but my only criticism of it is that it is a cadence sensing motor.
@@JohnDoe-gn5bc The advantage of the Lightest over the CYC is the weight ( still the half if you consider the drive unit only) and the fact that you don't have to handle two chains. We saw that they tried to fix the overheating problems of the previous versions, but we haven't tested it. The Lightest has torque sensor!

Been looking at this mid drive for years ...is the sram or raceface freewheel spindle available yet? Not being available is the deal killer for me. And battery tech suppression from elites. Stuck with crappie heavy batteries.

Plus it was informed by lightestebike that a spindle has been made and will be on the website for sale. And that is why im waiting on ordering. Is lightestebike now forgetting it's promises ? The system can only work with our crankarms as those are threaded for the freewheel installation

From the speca it seems it is an upgrade. But the power is not everything. What also counts (very much in my opinion) is the software. So how it reacts to dynamic changes of your effort and how easy is to learn how to control it so it follows not the opposite. But no one actually tested this motor. On other hand did you try OSF firmware for Tongsheng? It changes a lot. Going back to lightest because the motor is offset of the crank axle it can affect suspension .

Can the max speed be unlocked above 25km/h to the US legal limit 48km/h?
Higher power versions ( 750W and 1000W) are limited to 32km/h in the Legal version. You can unlock them with the Offroad version

Why didn't you put out a single basic kit couple years ago when you had a good working prototype? Like most other potential buyers, I wasn't going to wait the indefinite amount of time, so I bought 2 ebikes, and a gas motor kit for a bike I wanted to put your kit on.

I have to wonder what this does to chain wear. You've got this tiny drive sprocket (looks like 9-tooth) on the power side (high tension) of the chain. The chain links are wrapping through much sharper angles than on a regular-size chainring and general consensus is that the more motion the links go through, the faster they will wear. Modern 11 and 12-speed chains aren't cheap and I would be leery of any system that may shorten chain life.
The motor pinion is a 10T. So the wear conditions are basically the same as with your rear 12T cog. Plus there's an advantage: the human torque and motor torque are not acting on the same chainring: that helps with the wear. After 4 years of testing we saw that the two effects counterbalance each other.
@@lightestebikekit6200 Except I rarely use my 12T. This uses the 10T 100% of the time.
