The Colorful Night Sky of Cottonwood Pass
**** Please Subscribe and Help me Grow ****
It's 12,126 feet high at Cottonwood Pass! Maybe that helps make the night sky so colorful, and maybe it doesn't? But I do know this was very high! And I know the night sky was very colorful! :)

The Milky Way Breaks Free!

Please Subscribe! I am up at 12,095 feet above Sea Level when I get to Independence Pass! The road had just finally gotten cleared a few days prior to this, as it had been snowed in all winter long. It was incredibly beautiful, you can see perhaps from the snow on the sides of the peaks that there was still a long of snow up there. It was still 3 to 4 feet deep in places where I walked. Please Subscribe and help me grow It was June and the Mountain passes in Colorado had just opened up a few days before this. It got below freezing that night, but it was worth to capture this footage of the Milky Way and a few cars as the were flying by. #awesome #amazing #mil...

The Big Lightning Storm of 2024

It was flashing all around me, and then it started raining sideways and on top of that it started to Hail! The Crazy Colors of the Night!

Sometimes in really dark sky locations the colors of the Night Sky can go crazy! This was one of those nights for me in Chiricahua National Monument in Arizona. This time of year you can see the end of the Winter Milky Way at the start leading into the Solid Core of the Summer Milky Way as it rises...

    Awesome display and capture. Almost makes me want to stay up past my bedtime and try some timelapse. 🙂Come September, I'm doing Black Canyon. I am scouting some 4wheel drive roads in and around Montrose but if I have time, I may drive up to Independence Pass for a look see.

      Yankee Boy Basin is the best one around there. It's out of Ouray, so a little bit away from Montrose. You also can go up Engineer Pass from there and access the Alpine Loop. I can't think of any really good 4x4 roads right by Montrose. There might be, but nothing comes to mind.

      @focalworldphotography5322 23 дні тому

      Thanks Murali, I am glad you like this. It will be visible, though it will have to be shot from more to the left then where I stood for this. The best angle is earlier in the summer, but it's still doable. Also remember by then, when it gets dark enough to see the Milky Way, it will already be pretty high up and close to vertical.

      I know they say the GoPro is supposed to be able to be used at night, but I found mine to be really bad. I used a Nikon D850 and a Sigma 14mm f1.8 to captured this. The Sigma 14mm f1.8 is a game changer for night time photography.

    The shutter was continuously open the whole night. What is the file size of the video? How long did the video enhancement take?

    • @focalworldphotography5322
      @focalworldphotography5322 2 місяці тому

      This is a timelapse. I am shooting continuously all night long with a 25 sec shutter speed. It gets too dark use video at night. So I have my camera shoot all night long at 25 secs and then I assemble each photo as a frame in a video. So basically I am converting all night photos into a video. This would be almost 2000 photos.

      @@focalworldphotography5322 with a pause in between photos or immediately shoot another 25 sec exposure?

    • @focalworldphotography5322
      @focalworldphotography5322 Місяць тому

      @@rhetta9826 No pauses at all. If there were gaps, satellites and planes would be jumping across the screen, the stars would move too much and so it would look jerky. I set my camera to 25 seconds and then with a Remote Release, I just lock it in so that it continuously triggers the shutter all night long.
