After three years on and off, of being hammered by trading restrictions on so called 'non essential' businesses...and massive inflation on goods and salaries, the UK government saw fit to increase corporation tax from 19% to 25%. Absolutely mad bad timing.

In the past, I've told people of a particular way to think about doing something 'accounting / tax' related, they'll go ask their accountant, and they'll say 'oh that's tax evasion', 'that's illegal', that's XXXXX, and then the business owner will just go along with whatever their response was, instead of digging deeper themselves. Blind faith. But you're right, the accountant is an unofficial employee of HMRC. I have a friend that's an accountant, she told me, if one of her clients gets inspected, all of her clients get inspected, so in her words she stays well away from the 'line', to avoid that happening.

Well, if they all made 7 figures, then the market would be inflated and 7 figures really isn’t 7 figures anymore, is it?

100% agree that business owners must use ChatGPT and other forms of generative AI with caution! For lots of reasons - it's often factually incorrect (e.g. statistics and sources), it gets details wrong that are difficult to spot (e.g. number of fingers on a picture of a person's hand) and may use other people's content directly (e.g. song lyrics, book content etc). The laws around copyright are already clear - we cannot copy other people's work. Therefore, anything we rely on heavily needs to be checked. A google search for key taglines, ideas, or even images will help identify any potential conflict. My favorite approach is to start with my own content as the starting point - for example, taking the transcript of a video and turning it into verbatim quotes, summary bullet points etc. Much more in line with what I want, and less risk than starting with other peopler's work!

Chat GTP is incredible and terrifying. Great podcast!
