Profoto Core Backpack Small - better than WANDRD? Camera bag review
I have spent so much time comparing camera bags, so you can imagine my relief when a bag I'd never seen in person before answered all of my concerns and supplanted all the bags I owned.
Profoto does itself a big disservice not selling alongside other bags in physical stores, as anyone comparing them would be very impressed by the Profoto bag.
So here are my thoughts on this bag, that you can buy separately from Profoto on their website without needing to fork out your cash for Profoto lights.
Let me know what you think! What's your favourite or current camera bag? What's important for you?

Leica SL2-S Test Drive - Could I go full Leica?
Переглядів 13 тис.3 роки тому
As someone who owns a Leica M rangefinder, I was very curious about their latest, 'more affordable', professional camera. It's more expensive than comparably specced cameras, but of course that's not all there is to cameras. So I wanted to see for myself: could I go full Leica? I admit this is a fairly superficial overview of my experience with the camera, but it was enough for me to decide how...
Is the Profoto B10 Worth It vs the Godox AD300 Pro?
Переглядів 39 тис.3 роки тому
Price is often the focus when comparing bits of gear, and when something is cheaper than a similar looking product, questions get asked about value. So it is with Profoto and Godox. Profoto is one of the OG lighting manufacturers, but can they hold a candle to the new guys, Godox? Let's er... shed some light on that. I hope I can help you make a choice, by telling you what I think about one of them, the venerable Pentax LX. If you’re curious, this is what I use to film: - My favourite camera amzn.to/39fFWmM - My go-to light amzn.to/3sicoh0 - My go-to softbox amzn.to/3qgUmKB - My go-to mic amzn.to...

    What they need is a way to shoot digital using vintage film cameras. You should have enough space inside the camera.

Profoto and godox is the same light without body construction, i see for my eyes, how Profoto work, and my opinion is, if u have money go to Profoto, IF u don’t have not much money? best is godox 2x ad200pro plus ad300 and Trust me, godox will be a profesional Lightning stuffs, the same like Profoto.

    For those afraid of sticly mirror syndrome, have cut my own rubber from an old collapsible lens hood to fix the sticky mirror pad. Then calibrated it myself. It is easy enough to open the front plate up to gain access to the rest of the mechanism to clean with alcohol and then lubricate. Once this is done, the LX is ultra reliable. I prefer using the LX over my KX and MX as well as all of my other from cameras. It just oozes quality. It also has the biggest and brightest viewfinder I have seen. Much brighter than the MX.

    ey, watching this as a M-D user and I love its imperfection. And mine is even simpler, no screen and no buttons and it does the Job :), I bought it new many years ago and as someone who loves to take pictures, it has been so difficult for me to part with it as the brain says its getting old and new stuff is around but the heart doesn't let go as the pictures it makes are beautiful. Good to see I am not not the only one still stuck with this forgotten beauty. Btw, how come no new videos? How is the journey going with the 262?

    New pieces like rubber mirror bumper stops to cure bad focus or the solenoid to cure sticky mirror syndrome have been unobtanium for 15 years. Pentax officially hasn't serviced them for the same amount of time. You'll be lucky to find one with recent service by someone who knows what they're doing. I used Pentax gear for 30+ years and an LX as my primary daily camera professionally for a decade of hard use. Great camera when new, worlds better than other tiny SLRs. No spot-metering and limited to max 1/75th flash synch were its downfall in age of transparency films. P645N or NII is a vastly better value used than LX today

    1 year use is hardly long term!! I bought one of these in 1986 for semi-pro work. This was in preference to the Nikon F3 hp, Canon T90 and Olympus OM2 and I never regretted it. For ergonomics I’d recommend getting one of the bolt on hand grips ( or even make one yourself.) Viewfinder- swap for the sport finder Does both eye-level & waist- level with the image correct way round. Serviced properly it’s going to last well. It’s built like a tank and in a pinch can be used as a weapon. Just ask the guy who tried to steal mine in 1988

    I just got a brand new B10X as my first off-camera flash. At the 2nd day of only light test use it died (about 20 flashes in total): no flash, no modelling light any more! The user interface was still working as before, though. Also, the B10x unit I bought was 'made in Poland', not Sweden, and the Profoto 3' OCF Silver Softbox I bought with it was 'made in South Korea'. Based on this very bad quality experience, I'll revise my decision now, and start building my flash kit around a different system.

    Not basis small talk but on basis of comparing color stability, flash energy the godox is the better choice for 99% of the users, if you have a full equiped studio with 100 k usd light equipment you should consider profoto or broncolor.

    Useful, and interesting! For some reason, the Algorithm recommended your M Type 262 review, after I had viewed some videos concerning the Type 246. I enjoyed that presentation, even though I have no good reason to acquire a 262, perhaps because it affirmed my desire to resist pursuing the “latest/greatest” things. (I use M10 and M Type 246 cameras, and still have most of my DSLRs.) The release of the SL3 does, however, make this a good time to consider a pre-owned SL-series camera, so, it is good to see your presentation on the SL2-S, which includes honest cons. Well-done! Thanks!

    They are lovely cameras, but good value? Even when this video was made they were no cheaper than the Nikon F3, Canon F1 new or Olympus OM4T. Factor in a few hundred more to get the sticky mirror resolved, and it ends up less than good value. Are they worth the extra money over something like the Pentax ME Super? Unless you really need the weather sealing its probably line ball. Then again if you have the cash and want the best 35mm Pentax money can buy, then go for it :)

    One question at the start: did you bought Profoto at retail price or you got it from Profoto? Because to be honest you don't sound rational at all and all flaws of Profoto aren't flaws but just a features for you. And price difference is nothing to compare as it is almost 4x higher. Not 40% .. 400%. You can get 4 flashes from Goodox instead one Profoto. Come on ...

    Personally I still use my Godox wistro, and I have to say they never missed a shot in outdoor conditions, never. They fall From light stand 2 times nothing broken, build solidly. Still battery working at 70% after the 10 plus year. Personally I will buy Profoto only used in case of good offer but I prefer elimchroom. Godox for the price of a b10 You can build A 6 light studio and having many flash as back up In locations. With Profoto every time U Had a back up It’s 3000 dollar per head.

  • @jonathaborzicchi6212

    2 B10 are 6000 dollar , you can buy 14 Godox for the same price, or 6 godox and many diffuser. Profoto are made to last but if they fail As any thing can fail You need a new one other 3500. You cannot go to a sghooting with 2 lamps, u need at least a back up. So another 3000 dollar.

    After using the LX for some time now, even with prices having likely gone up since this video was made, I think you're actually getting more than you pay for. From what I've seen, the camera is the smallest professional-grade 35mm film camera. I love the way that the double exposure system is integrated into the film winder, and the meter on this camera is always bang-on. A point of note regarding the review, there is a variant of the waist-level finder that has a magnifier. There are also a couple of different 'system' finders that one can select for really specialized applications (action, copy work, etc.)

    Simply a Profoto ad. I also don't believe the comments below. I've used both and I like the idea that I can buy 3 Godox lights for the price of one Profoto. The Godox lights work incredibly well and have a wide range of lighting for every occasion.

    Yeah, I've had both miss, could be recharge who knows, but I definitely have a few frames with a light or two not firing with both profoto and godox. Even with the new channels of the latest profoto trigger. But the key is if you travel, you can rent profoto anywhere there is a rental house...not so with godox. But then godox is so cheap you can bring 3-4 heads with you for the price of one profoto! ha ha. Ah comes down to get the best you can afford. Also if I'm outside venturing myself with a subject, no one to hold stands etc, I would rather a $700 godox fall over in the wind than a $2000 profoto. If its a commercial shoot then profoto is it...

    Support, repairs, availability (sales and rentals), resale value. When dealing with China based companies concerning these factors, I have never had reliable experiences. Sometimes I would be lucky to get ANY response. I have dealt with Profoto for 20+ years and I can say with confidence that it is a company that understands the concept of the word "Professional" and what you expect from them and their products.

    This was a flagship camera for Pentax in its day. It was by no means the best in class compared to Nikon or Canon. It might be a good representation for a budget but definitely not the best value. The Nikon FM3a was a homage to the popular FM and FE. You would have to compare this camera to Nikon’s F3 or Canon’s F-1.

    Great review on a great camera. So many people looking for the Nikon FM3a and paying a fortune for it. I don't get it. What is the feature that is worth an extra thousand bucks? Is it just because its hawked by UA-cam creators? As a tip, I would be wary of buying a LX from Japan. When these camera have spent a lifetime on a high humidity island, there are problems with rust and fungus.

    3:42 Olympus has their own take on the test shot feature in their mirrorless cameras. It's not mapped to the shutter release, but it can be mapped to any button where you hold it as you press the shutter button. The front two buttons on the E-M1 mark ii, for example, are easy candidates for such simultaneous button/shutter pressing. Admittedly, the one on the M262 in the video is more streamlined.

    Pentax did a great job in terms of usability already with the ME Super. For example, same red indication of a cocked shutter is already there. Speaking of a viewfinder readouts, I think it's one of the best. But maybe the most versatile is Canon A-1 here. Those red lights need no sunlight and you can see them in a complete darkness. Great video!

    Yes there are cameras out there that CAN compete with the Leica on performance for way less money. But they still can't compete with the glass quality of Leica lenses. Let's say a top of the line Panasonic or Canon can outperform a Leica. They still can't compete with the beautiful handmade article of beauty that is Leica. The camera has a metal body, the lenses are also metal with a lot of tediously passionately handworked glass. But that extra weight provides a beautiful balance in holding and using the camera. Pure handmade quality like that is worth it. That's why you buy a Leica. It makes you feel good to use it, it calls you, you want to use it. Plastic doesn't call me. And the Leica performance isn't too shabby either.

    • @bybenoit5593
      @bybenoit5593 Рік тому

      As a happy owner of a Q2, I totally agree with everything you said there. But, above a certain point (for me and my work specifically) weight is a major hindrance and top top top performance isn't worth the extra cost. I wish it were, that my work TRULLY demanded the quality of £6K Leica glass, but it isn't and my work doesn't 😅

    • @cliff2011
      @cliff2011 Рік тому

      @@bybenoit5593 OK, I hear ya and understand more where YOU are coming from as a Pro, being cost effective etc. Ohh and just for the record (and this may not pertain to you specifically) but the Leica 24-70 is not a REAL Leica lens made in Germany. It is Japanese made. The 24-90 Leica lens IS the real deal made IN Germany and they REALLY throw all the quality and handmade passion into that lens. II met some tourists on the beach recently (taking photos of sandpipers etc) he had an SL2-S and referred to the Leica lens as having an "other worldly quality". It does seem to have something special, almost a magic to it. I think that subtle extra nuance is what Leica strive for. Having said all that, Yea I do understand your needs in what you do, where you're coming from, what you're looking for, and how much expense is acceptable.

    • @bybenoit5593
      @bybenoit5593 Рік тому

      I understand that there’s some debate on the 24-70 lens and whether it’s a ‘real Leica’. Pretty sure Leica wouldn’t risk they’re fledgling reputation with pros like this? As the gateway lens to a very expensive system, it has to be extremely good, but not as good as the higher end lenses. In that sense, I’d say it hits that mark. Now, Germany vs Japan manufacturing? It depends on so many factors, not least what market a company is aiming at. Leica’s lenses are amazing partly because they allow themselves to produce and sell fewer better lenses, compared to popular Japanese brands. However, if Leica commissions a Japanese factory (Sigma it seems, in this case) but stipulates the same quality and quantity as their German factories, why would we assume it would be any worse?

  • @fairhill2612
    @fairhill2612 Рік тому

    This was the most one sided review I’ve seen yet. Nothing technical has been said about any of the lights. Power output vs battery life vs light quality vs color temperature. It seems as if you like profoto mainly because of its promotional allure and higher quality, also their ability to throw more money in advertising on their website. Mono light output shouldn’t be much of a decision breaker for a STROBE light. This didn’t help at all.

    • @bybenoit5593
      @bybenoit5593 Рік тому

      Though I thought this was clear in the video, on technical points, and for my use case (people in commercial photography), they are effectively equal. That may not be precisely the case when tested on meters. However, if they are effectively equal (for my use case, I stress) then all that’s left (and it’s a big part of it) is the usability, build quality, accessories and rental ecosystem, and sheer pleasure of using them. So if preferring profoto on those points is one sided, then yeah, I guess it is one sided!
