How do you keep the whitefly off the caulies/cabbage? I also tried Longan from market seed, no luck unfortunately, yours look really good.
Some interesting choice plants there for Perth's climate!! Not sure if its the same as ours but I think it is as we seem to get most of your weather!! Cheers from Adelaide!!
I think our weather is similar right? Haha. Are you referring to some of the more tropical plant choices?
❤❤❤
It's spring 2024 not autumn
Hi there! This footage is from Autumn. I've been playing catch up, and spring 2024 will be out a bit later. thanks.
Which suburb are you in.
I Dont understand how it grows everythingso fast AMD good in Aussy Lands, i though it was everithing Desert, excepting East zone...
Please subtle in English or Spanish...
Yep... Well, we have a mediterranean climate so... we can basically grow what the Italians can!
GLSCo is the best, Paul and Linda will never steer you wrong 🫡
It certainly did the trick on the garden!
To kill aphids just spray with milk in the evening. Leave overnight & water/rinse off in the morning. May need to repeat it but it does work. I used it on my roses. No need to chop them
Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for the inspiration
You're welcome!
Snow peas are so great to have in your garden 🍃🍃🍃
Yes they are! And Delicious!
The Globe Artichokes are cool
They look amazing in flower!
Where did you get the shredder? Mine is rubbish so looking for a replacement.
Beacon Equipment - Canning Vale. Wasn't cheap. Just like the 8x 6x1.1 trellis I bought today ^_^
@@DigIntoGardening going to make a vid of the trellis instal? Like to see that!
@@Thecultivatingcurmudgeon Yeah... It'll be in there!
First time here Was thinking its dry wonder where this guy is. Bingo, you're in Perth too 😂
Haha yerp! Dry as! :D
If your kale plants last as long as mine do, they will be in the ground in years to come. I have mine in grow bags and chop the tops off at the end of every winter but they are going on their 4th year now.
You can tell it’s been warmer in Perth than Bunbury because my fig and strawberry guava aren’t fruiting yet.
Ooh yeah, also this is not the current season video as I'm a bit behind on my videos :P
5:54 What happened here? Id suggest some hanging baskets from the fence n walls. Plant some flowers or vines. plants thrive when surrounded by other plants
The Garden bed has never done well, I think because it only gets a bit of light with the angle of the fence and roof. It also doesn't catch the rain , because the house roof shelters it. Plants in this bed usually get disease quickly. My plan is to a) use proper compost to increase plant health (got my own batch close to usable), and b) put a large trellis in that bed so that the plants can get more light. Thinking to switch between climbing plants, vining plants, like you've mentioned. Growing on the fence, hmm, I hadn't thought of that to be honest. There isn't much soil below it. Hanging baskets off the fence you rekon?
That fig tree needs a very good pruning . Will improve yields and make it easier to pick
Yeah, it's actually not in my yard, it's the neighbours tree, I totally agree.
Thanks for sharing, a great style of video! 🌱🥀🐞
Thank you!
awesome garden 🙂
Thank You!!!! :D
So good to see an Auzie garden. I love your excitement! Keep going mate. With love from Western Australia
Will do :) Thanks
Sponsored by Bunnings!
Haha. Not even a free hat!
Last year's garden or this year's? I am jet lagged since getting back to WA but pretty sure it is 2024...
Hey! Yes it's a year late... but I'm committing to getting back up to current now ASAP. Editing all the previous seasons content. Thanks.
Great vid! how did the final harvest go?
It was a pretty rough final harvest, this was Spring 2023 when we got hit hard by Summer weather in Spring, and everything was crispy as. But reflecting on the footage, still had a decent crop of the veg that withstood the brutal heat and my poor watering system (a hose). The beets, carrots and kale were the stand outs I'd say.
too much stuff from bunnings lol not even financially viable at this stage
Hi waterboi, i agree too much from bunnings! But have to start somewhere. I have upgraded my compost bay to a 3 bay, and have access to green waste from my gardening work, which will help reduce costs going forward. Thanks for commenting.
It is my first time on your channel and I have just subscribed. Wow the lettuce are so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. Keep up the good work. All the best on this journey.
Hi there! greetings in Jamaica. I have watched a few of your videos. Great job! Plenty more lettuce footage to come! :D Thanks for subbing!
I like and love Australia
Loved this garden tour! That bird at the end, we affectionately call, a bin chicken, 'cause they are always hanging around the back of Coles or Woolworths, looking for scraps. Cheeky buggers!
Haha. They are super funny to watch when I put down a load of mulch. They make thousands of holes in it, searching for grubs underneath. I think they all flew in from Woolies to my place!
Nice to see another Perth youtube garden channel! Just started mine for something to do in retirement, fun hobby eh?
Hello! Yes indeed. It's a lot of fun! I don't think there's many Perth gardening UA-cam channels. I've only come across a couple. I will check out your Videos. Cheers
Wow, your seedlings are further along than mine, and more numerous... That bottle tree looks great! :) Pushing some mulch in under those strawberries, lifting them up off the soil, could help with the slaters...
Well, this is last Spring. I'm a year late on my Videos, haha. I am working hard to get up to date. Yes indeed... I will add more mulch to the strawberry bed next time perhaps. Cheers
Did you mean 2024? Or was this an older video you've uploaded? Love all the seedlings you've planted!
I'm a year behind haha. Trying to get the back log completed. Will release them asap. Cheers
Noice!
Do you sell any of your seedlings?
I've sold plants, but not seedlings. Costs more to buy the pot and soil than what I would get to sell a seedling! :P
Where are you? You haven't posted anything since 2023. Are YOU okay???
Yes, thanks. I had an issue with Adobe Premier Pro, and I switched to Davinci Resolve. I procrastinated learning the new software, but finally spent the last 2 weeks on it every spare moment, and I am releasing the backlog of videos. I was away during 2 months of Winter overseas, so the Winter video will be limited. However the Spring, Summer, and Autumn Vids are coming! (Spring Part 1 Out). Interesting timing of your post. Hah. Cheers
I’ve heard Lilly pillows make amazing jam, maybe you could harvest them and try that?
I find that they don't have a huge amount of sweetness, but I suppose with enough sugar and pectin, anything is possible! My friend loves eating them off the tree. I'm not sure I love it enough haha.
He can sing ! 😊
LOL
No more Mr Slug😄
Mr slug is always back!
WATCHING YOU GARDENING HERE IN PERTH, I AM JUST WONDERING IF YOU AND YOUR VEGGIE PATCH ARE SUFFERING AS BADLY AS MY POOR PATCH AND I ARE HERE IN ROLEYSTONE. SO MANY OF MY BELOVED VEGGIES HAVE BEEN BURNT TO A CRISP IN THIS HORRIBLE HEAT.
Yeah it was a rough time with record low rains and high heat, thank goodness it's raining again! I hope your vege patch has recovered!
As a computer programmer, I think there must be a way to keep the strawberries off the ground.
Please code me a solution
Hi, please make a video on how to set up garden beds and with what soils as perth soil is of no nutritional.
Hey thanks for your suggestion. I am still working it out myself. I currently am creating a few tonnes of my own compost at home, hopefully it will help this poor soil situation!
@moniee2599 in Perth, we need to set up raised garden beds. Can't grow nutritious food in sand. I mean you can, if you use synthetic fertiliser. We've put in raised beds, and it's a win-win. Temu has cheap ones. Fill them with sand and then top it with 40cm of veggie mix. Don't use wood chips to fill the beds because they break down fast, and you'll spend years of topping them up. Make your own compost (heaps of videos on yt), and get a worm farm going. Stakes, shade cloth and keep watching yt channels for help.
Ooooh, a gardening tour from Perth, Western Australia... don't mind if I do!
Don't mind if I do!
you're a sandalwood nut
You beauty! More mukbang please :)
More coming
Commiserations on the broccoli, I have had to rip mine out too as they have bolted with those super hot days we've had, without producing anything 😭
Yeah, haven't had a great deal of success with Brocolli in general . Maybe next season!
Every gardener's dream mate. A food forest! Your garden is like a nursery!
Just imagining you being cold like that with today's weather 😊😊 Love the no grass backyard mate!
It was a stinker, and only Spring!
$4 for celery!! $4 for a bunch of spinach and don't get me started how expensive chives have become!! Surely it all helps in the budget??
I haven't bought any leafy green veg or herbs in a while for the most part, certainly would!
Oh love my veggie patch and have some old fruit trees ,so have plenty too cook and make jams . Your a,bit a head of us with the growing season .I,m south east SA takes a while for the soil temp too come up. Won't be long here before all the tomato seedling will be sold out at Bunnings. Last year had heaps self sown one,s but not this year . Have plenty of seedlings I bought this time ..never been the best veggie grower ,better at flower garden .But I am.improving on veggie growing .
Nice. Perhaps you can purchase seeds from Diggers for your Tomatos. I like to support them.
Gee the garden has moved a long . Looking great . Have you thought next time using brocolli leaves and or mixed leaves dehydrated and than powder them too add too soups and dishes .. Was thinking of drying some orange and lemon like you have . They came out great .. my daughter buys them in a packet in veggie upmarket shop and they are quite expensive .She put them in her gin .
I hadn't thought about it actually. I have been drying herbs lately, that's about the extent of it. I guess I have so much Kale and stuff that I don't think to do it. Adding powder isn't a bad idea though. Will give it a shot. Cheers
Wow Wonderful Garden ~ Thank you for good sharing LIKE 1 My friend, have a good relationship 😊
Thanks
its all looking good , hope my garden can look like that 👍
Thanks! I hope so too!
