      @LivinginCloverdale it's opinion that you are sharing without openly disclosing your financial conflict of interest. You are attacking a legislation change that is attempting to release housing stock. While it may be your opinion it is less than honest to not disclose your financial interest.

    Renters have to much power. The short-term rental ban ruined our retirement plans. Something we have been working on for over 25 years. While I am happy with many of the NDP's decisions, I am not happy with this. It's just a hand out to the hotel industry. If we want to improve housing prices, we have to release more land for development. 94% of the land in the province is owned or leased by resource companies. It's a simple supply and demand problem. Bring back homesteading.

    Only two things will work 100% to alleviate the housing shortage. Reducing or eliminating immigration or building housing at 2-3X the current rate.

    The chart comparing short term to long term rentals presents a false dichotomy. It assumes no homes went for sale in the market to residents who live in the houses instead.

      @@LivinginCloverdale The chart leaves out important details that leaves people to make bad assumptions. The Airbnbs not on the market may have been bought by families who live in them. This is what happened in California when many of the apartments taken off the market as apartments were put back in the market as condos instead. Poor economics studies and biased research in the past assumes "there is less housing" if a rental unit goes to a family who owns the house and lives there.
