    My wife and I have been putting money towards our IRA’s and HSA’s(a medical retirement account)but we haven’t invested any of it yet, is just sitting there. Is putting part of this money from this retirement accounts towards index funds a good idea? PS: I’m responsible for what I decide to do, you have no responsibility to what ever happens.

    • @unclestef8239
      @unclestef8239 10 днів тому

      Generally speaking you want to dollar cost average into index funds. That means putting in money into the market at regular intervals regardless of the current market conditions. It is just about impossible to predict what will happen in the market in the short and even medium term. At this time big money players like Warren Buffet are building up cash because they believe the market is about to go down. But this could happen next week or next year … who knows. Personally I haven’t sold anything but I am also building cash. If it were me, I would get ready to invest about 25% of my cash next market downturn. But any money you put in, you have to be able to leave it for years … because it could go down. Remember to always have a minimum of 6 months of emergency funds. I prefer a year + … but that makes me sleep at night. I am not your financial advisor nor am I at all … so please research and perhaps consult one who can assess your situation and provide a plan the works best given your tax situation. Advisors are typically no good at picking stocks and investments, just buying the index will beat them without fees, but they can help with tax planning. Be sure any cash you have is earning interest for you while you wait / study before investing.

      Not a project, but see if you can find a way/an "in", with older financial advisory companies or old non-for profits. They are usually quite far behind with the times and tech know how. (Smaller old companies). Feel like its a bit of an untapped resource for freelance work, as they like people who come recommended and are keen to upgrade their systems. *worked previously for one of these. Most of the company were elderly highly experienced people in their field, but needed lots of help with new tech and development. Good luck :)

    I discovered WordPress pretty early on. I'd learned how to code and built my own websites (adult), in the late 90's, early 2000's. When I discovered WordPress, I just knew it was for me. I continued with ecommerce, I built sites for people, got involved in WP web security, started helping people out for free (and paid) through forums, and people also found me through my own website. I'm 53 now, I retired at 52. No financial worries, we have several investments. I actually shared some of your videos, Stef, on my website, over the years. Building your own brand, building trust with clients is paramount. In the end, I was charging $120/hr for my work, for 4 years I'd worked more than 50 hours p/w at that rate, then started to slow down. I wanted some 'me time', and woke up one morning, decided to only work 2 days per week, and did that for about a year or so, then that day came when I asked myself 'how much is enough', my accountant answered it. So, I retired. Now, I'm enjoying my photographic hobby - I've always wanted to delve into photography, and now I can, without having to worry about bills being paid. Thank you Stef, for all your videos over the years.

    What about when there are observable physical changes? I developed varicose veins in my legs and I developed bulging blue veins in my arms and hands. I also had an endoscopic ultrasound that revealed damage to my pancreas and sludge in my gallbladder, which I had none of prior to covid. Can any of that be explained as being neurological? Is it possible that the fight or flight response is causing systemic inflammation and causing physical damage? I also experience crippling brain fog that feels more like MS or straight up brain damage. Is this "healable" with your method? Lastly, what do you think about these long covid clinic doctors claiming that long covid is a "new autoimmune disease" that affects multiple body systems? They seem to come from the angle that it's actual physical damage that is causing the symptoms, rather than it being purely neurological/psychological.

      My carbon footprint is tiny compared to most people I know. Penny-wise, pound-foolish comes to mind. So that means I concern myself with the big things. For example, for every drive in a car, I will be on my bike 10x ... mostly to get around the city. I bought furniture that last decades, instead of a few years. I've cut weight so that I am under 20% body fat so that means I eat much less (less carbon) and will likely need far less medical care since 80% of people are in the healthcare system due to metabolic disorder ... which means they eat too much and don't exercise enough. Imagine if the population got in shape, and that would cut medical needs by 80% ... the health care overall would be sailing, and since there would be a small percentage of the current health care load, think how that would impact the use of carbon ... huge! Hope that makes sense?👍

Maybe something you can talk more about are the reinventions along the way? Like to me… it seems I never get there, and it really took some coming to terms with that and seeing that in a really positive way. On the other hand, you have to craft something and stick at it for a while if you're going to make anything… and yet, it will likely never be permanent; like there's never just that 'one thing' on this journey, right - it's a fallacy?
