BIG AGNES SHIELD 2 REAL WORLD REVIEW/ AN AWESOME WINTER TENT
I went winter camping up at Rabbit Ears pass right outside of Steamboat Springs Colorado with my Shield 2 Real World and I feel fortunate to have had this tent because the temperature dropped colder than it was supposed to and the wind was pretty intense at times. Check out all the awesome gear Big Agnes has to offer on their website: www.bigagnes.com/

I think we've had our Q1200 for about 4+ years now. Love the thing. We just leave it outside, uncovered and clean it down when it needs it. Still running perfect. finally replaced the igniter battery for the first time a couple months ago. 5 stars. Will buy again if needed.

I have been using the Altai brand skis since they came out. For bindings I purchased new overstock snowboard bindings for $25 then went to the hardware store and purchased a stainless steel heavy duty door hinge and made almost split board bindings. These cost me less than $40 total and about 1 hour of time. I use any type of boot including snowboard boots. The snowboard boots are stiff and I used these on some decent sized slopes in Utah and all over the UP of Michigan with no issues. Have a blast.

Just bought the 2.0s (Jan '24, $150) and am looking forward to using them hiking my three dogs in the snow. I have gone through a lot of winter boots. But I can only wear a regular sock or a thick sock depending on the boot. So I took two pairs of socks to Cabela's to try on boots and this is the only boot that I could "lace up" and they felt great with either pair of socks! Not only that, but when you really crank down on the BOA system it doesn't make my feet feel crushed width-wise like so many other boots and the toe box stays nice and roomy. Glad I took two pairs of socks shopping with me. Sold!

Great review. I’m gonna have to take down notes, especially on the boots that worked with it. I love that the boots you showed from Cabela’s have a boa system. To me, that’s always a plus. I’ve only found one other review regarding this ski and they were for the 147 which is the one that I’m looking for. I know that they’re no longer made. I have found a 127 CM for sale but I am really seeking the 147 mostly because of the metal edges and also because it will have a higher glide factor for my weight. The only other ski I’m considering is OAC skinbased XCD 160 CM or the oac GT 160. The specs are pretty much, the same as the black diamond, only difference being the 160 is longer. Oac has another ski that’s pretty much exact to the glidelites, which is the kar and/or wap series. But in my opinion, I think the XCD is gonna be better glide factor wise. I’d really love to find these black diamonds in the 147 because I think their flotation is great compared to some others I’ve been looking at. I am someone who wants to take back up cross country ski but I don’t wanna have to buy all the crap and I was never comfortable when I was doing it a long time ago. But I probably just didn’t have the right equipment back then. But still I don’t want to take a very long ski with where I’m going. It doesn’t require that. I need a backcountry ski that can go down the hiking trails and the ungroomed backcountry that I’m looking to go over. I need the black diamond or the OAC.

Speak of the devil, after checking your review I ended up finding a pair of 147 CM black diamond glide lights, but the person selling them wants more than what they sell for new and there is some slight wear and tear to them. The OAC skinbased XCD BC 160s are less pricey and in much better condition as they were only used for a season. What to choose lol

Thanks for the cool video . I just got me a Q1200 and will see if it can cook as good as my '92 Hot Shot gas grill , I modified it a little bit with cast iron grates , drip pans a griddle 1lb to 20lb tank , thermometer . Little Hot Shot gets 600 degrees Fahrenheit up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit . Little lighter than the Q1200 , but I will give the Q a chance to see how it goes . You made me feel hungry ! Weber makes some great grills . What kind of beer are you drinking ? I love imported beer , especially from Germany . Prost !

I've been around sno-cats all my life, now, keep in mind that the ONLY sno-cats here are the ones made by tucker! these machines are mostly the 4 tracked ones, a couple of the 2 track snow trucks might be actual sno-cats but otherwise there not sno-cats actually dont take a lot of maintenance at all, just basic track tensioning, greasing, and oil changes will do everything you need, they'll run for years and pretty much maintenance free other than the basics found with any other vehicle

I've watched a lot of videos on these as well as other manufacturers such as Altai(Hok, Kromm) because I'm trying to figure out which is going to work best for me, and the one thing I've seen for those who don't like them is that they are NOT using them for there intended purpose, and therefore are creating negative reviews do to their own ignorance. This was a great review, and I'm glad they are working great for you:)

Would have been nice to have seen the bag in use. I have always been intrigued by the Big Agnes sleep system. With the sudden popularity of quilts, the Big Agnes sleep system is definitely something to consider. Question; If you are a side sleeper, will the hood move with the angle of your head? From the demonstration, i can see this as being an issue. Especially in the cold, weather, if you turn onto your side, you will be breathing into the hood, as opposed to breathing through the minced aperture by the mouth. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
