is this look achivable on 8bit footage from an sony camera?
Nah. I like it
I'm a lover of Dark pictures. They're everything to me. Well done
@@realtmony Thank you! I have a thing for moody and darker looks too. I just love the density and richness you see when creating a darker look. ☺️
I feel like dark shots like this are so fun bc you have flexibility in how far you can push before you hit the "yeah, that's too far now" point. Stylized? Works. Natural? Works. Pushed? Works. 😂😂 I love your style. 👏🏻
Thank you, Miranda!
I will say this is best video in UA-cam to dive really deeper in how film different from digital. I have already using this magic trick to my project with DTCL tetra and some grain, glow effect you can easily life without expensive plugins like Dehancer.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I'm so glad you found this useful! 😊
great
how can I know when raise or low sharpness of high frequencies?
That's a great question and the answer is quite simple - what feels right to you for the image you're working with? Are you looking to have a softer texture - if so, softening the details would be the way to go. Are you looking to enhance the detail in areas of high contrast (high frequencies) - then sharpening those would be your answer. It's all subjective and it is up to you and your client to decide how you want the texture of the image to look. Hope this helps!
Ive just got to say this channel has the most refind no fluf explinations of how to use these tools. Thanks for sharing your experience. Subscribed!
You're so kind, I appreciate it, Alex!

Thank you for sharing! it is very generous! Question: would this applies in the same way if I use ACES or DaVinci Wide Gamut as color spaces ?
Hey Gabo, thank you for your kind comment. This applies to DWG as well. However, I can't get it to work in ACES at this stage.
Thank you Marieta!! ACES has the flaw of loosing detail in that frequency, like neon lights. It has been improved but still…
one of the best dehancer gradings i've seen! really cool work here
That's so kind, thank you!
Hello :) can you explain your TEXTURE approach,,, when you mention "scan grain" ? Thank you Marieta.
Of course. I've simply used a film grain overlay in Quicktime and blended it over the footage in 'Multiply' mode using a Layer mixer. Hope this clarifies this step.
Lovely video! I liked. I subscribed.
Thank you very much!
I can't live without DCTLs ! Great video !
@@madelproduction Thank you! Yeah, there are some great DCTLs that can significantly improve your speed.
Another fantastic video. The final look is gorgeous as well. I'm once more delighted to see the great results you achieve with my tools. :)
@@IridescentColor Thank you once again for sharing them with me! ☺️
Question about Tetra+, does it address Hue, Density, and Saturation? I noticed that's what it does in your video, but on Iridescent Color's channel, it does Hue, Lum, Sat
Hey Jeremy, density and luminance are referring to the same thing - how bright or dark a hue is.
Just to chime in there real quick, the functionality in version 2 is slightly different from version 1, so some things you might see on my channel might be slightly outdated compared to the newest version. If we want to be super precise, "density" differs from "luminance" in that the effect of a density adjustment is greater the more saturated a colour is, whereas luminance is irrespective of saturation and also means slightly different things depending on the colour model. That's why density adjustments are usually cleaner because they don't exacerbate chroma noise in low sat areas or muddy up skin tones. Since there isn't really a way to adjust luminance without affecting saturation in a tetrahedral framework, I replaced the slider with a density control instead. Hope that makes sense! :)
@ thanks for the follow up!! that was exactly what was I looking for! Thank you guys!
@@IridescentColor how long have you been studying colour science for? You're well versed. I'm about to buy 3 of your DCTLs btw, solid work
Such a great overview Marieta! So cool of you to have taken the time to also show how to achieve similar results without them as well :)
Thank you, Douglas! Of course, there are multiple ways to do things and I'd never want people to think using external tools is the only way to grade. 😊
Nice video again! You should check out Albert Karhu's channel and the video "Pyhän maan lapsi" there. He has a really cinematic video that he made using only the free version of DaVinci Resolve and i think no plug ins. Cheers!
Thanks! The video you're referring to looks great, indeed. I'm curious to know how did you get to the conclusion about how it's graded? I couldn't see a look breakdown on the channel, unfortunately.

I got it, it freezes the system while makjg any initial changes. Then it works alright but i dont think it is tuned for performance.
Yeah, as mentioned in the video, I have noticed it takes of bit of time for Look DNA to load. But then it works perfectly. I haven't had any performance issues with the rest of the DCTLs.
Very useful insights, thank you!
