Every handful of expansions the oldest gets added to the free trial anyway I have easily put about 500 hours into the free train as well

I remember on my first play through i farmed all my caracters to lvl 99 each so i can be ready for the final boss...little did i know how difficult i would be after that. I was convinced that the final act in the castle was extra hard compared to the rest of the game. Now i understand why it was...but when i really think about it, i think i made the right call because winning that last fight was incredibly satisfying due to it's difficulty, when i look at a speedrun and how easy they defeat bosses i can only think that i've had it better than most. One of my favorite game of all time

FF8 is far from the worst game in the series.

If you didn’t have to pull 100 of the spells for the stats id be a much better experience.

I got it on steam and was pleasantly surprised they let you stock up on magic instead of drawing them over and over. The nice thing is this is optional so if you want to do it the old fashioned way and spend countless battles drawing magic, you still can!

Tip: If you’re a tank, STOP RUNNING FROM THE MONSTER. I’m not a tank, but I’ve watched jocat and I know your job as a tank is to distract the boss and keep it still so the team can attack the rear. Just smth I saw during the dungeons section, so no hard feelings. This vids pretty fire, so keep it up!

please god no. XD Not having dungeons in the story is why I quit most MMOs XD. I hate mmos thta treat their story as secondary.

Grand Companies are essentially a holdover from 1.0. In 1.0 the story was attached to the grand companies and you would only see part of the story based on the perspective of your Grand company similar to how the story is told from Character Creation up until you join the Scions. Eventually they decided to repurpose the Grand Companies for PVP but it ended up causing issues since not many people liked doing PVP in FFXIV before the rework in Endwalker so they eventual decoupled it from PVP and ever since Grand Companies have mostly been stuck in limbo.

Personally I couldn't stand the game, having played every other Final Fantasy up to that point except 2. But It's not because the characters, setting, storyline, or any of that. The leveling and battle systems just weren't fun to me and I couldn't get into it.

ds2 is definitely the best in the souls franchise any road, after like two days of gameplay on ff14 i understand why so much people love this game

You should check out the Succession mod. It tweaks the story, mostly with Cid, Rinoa, Edea, and Seifer, helping it flow better. It replaced Time Compression and amnesia with elements that apparently work quite well.

As a new free trial player, I was drawn to your video to see just how far I could take it. Thanks for sharing all of that. I'm also wary of locking my free play away, and wonder if there's a legit way to have a second non-free account which I occasionally pay or lapse, depending on level of interest. Like you, I find myself speeding through the story quests - with my friends barely involved in my gameplay at all, except as vastly over-levelled world map helpers, or dungeon buddies. It doesn't feel right at all, making them plus-ones in my hero arc. I hope they are re-living some of the magic of their first time through me, at least.

This is probably the first video I've seen that mentioned FFXII and the things XIV borrowed from it - sometimes I feel like an absolute lunatic when I see a wooly croc in Coerthas, or the absolute meltdown I had when, during Heavensward, I spotted a "Lower Skylord", aka a Ring Wyrm, sans a ring, and lamented what they did to my poor boy.

It isn't. I have nothing against Squall, it's the fact that story is weird, all over the place, uses something once and then totally forgets about it.

Just started playing FFVIII again around 3 days ago. It’s all I think about while at work. FFVII is my favorite of all time but VIII Is still incredible.

And not a single word about dog hand-canon, dog wrestler, dog for riding, dog posing in front of the moon... The most important part!

31:15 Vaan is actually the most important character in the game. Without him joining the hunters guild and advancing in the ranks, the final hunt Yiazmat would have destroyed Ivalice. It is hailed in npc opinions and in statistical fact that Yiazmat is the most powerful creature in Ivalice. The kingdom battles and wars meant nothing at the end of the day, as Yiazmat would kill everybody anyways. So really, the rest of the team are all side characters, and Vaan is DEFINITELY the main hero AND the most powerful being in Ivalice after he completes the final hunt.

Omg we have the same favorite ff tactics and first then 8, then 7 and then x. This was also my first final fantasy.

FF8 has a fake President that scared me then transformed FF8 has great bosses and this is not my final form Ultimecia I beat her so many times years ago

7 was my first, 8 was my second and the one I got to try the most before I got a PlayStation. Definitely gets more hate than I think it deserves. Definitely has issues but I actually like the breaks it has.

19:35 Yes, defeating Midgar Zolom when you first encounter it is super-satisfying. It's not as hard as it appears. You can even defeat the Zolom in a no-random-battles challenge. It helps to keep everyone tranquilized in the back row, with Cure materia, give the Enemy Skill learner an Elemental-Fire combo on their armor and don't have them attack until they're the last fella remaining, rely mainly on Limit Breaks for your attacks, use Beta on the Zolom once you've learned it. Experiment from there. Good luck!

I know it's not the point of the video but since you brought it up I gotta disagree about the heat towards vasn in ff12, he has agency to be in the group and even jf he didn't it wouldn't matter, he's their because his life choices led him their, he wants to be a sky pirate because adventure and goes along with bal and Fran because he wants to be like then, and even then you could argue vaan has every right to be in the rebellion for what the empire and vash brother did to vaan brother leading him into his life of thievery in the first place, just because a character is under qualified or are their of their own volition doesn't give then any less right to be their and I think a lot of people forget that by your argument Han and chewy shouldn't be helping Luke and Leia because they got no REAL agency against the empire like the rest kf the cast but their their because they want to be. Besides all of that though we saw what happens to ff when you don't got an every man, exposition is turned into walls of text in ff13

Absolutely love this game :) always been my favourite. Love the parts of the game people hate :) the junction system is great, story is a little messed up but if you do multiple play throughs it’s not so bad. Love the characters and triple triad, I have to have a play through every year. I love many other FF games but FF8 remains at the top for me, my first FF game :) and always my turn to when I don’t know what to play :)
