Jeep hurricane pneumatic tires
anyone have a source for these tires, they are now 35/each on amazon best I can see.
Can you detail a diagram of the wiring for the new boxes? I just bought the ones you are using in the video, thanks.
There should be one at the end of the video. Thanks for watching!
I believe the diagram is in the video. Is there something I left out?
Hello. Great content. This will be very helpful for anyone with an RC51. I have one, and it is giving problems with a transient ignition problem. I suspect it is a CDI failing issue. I'd like to get the exact same parts that you've installed. You seem to have the box in the background. The side of the box says "1pz", which also has an Amazon store, but I want to be certain to get the CDI unit that you installed. Can you please provide additional details about the CDI unit(s) that you installed? I see that the Amazon store for 1pz has an item titled "1PZ UNS-DC4 DC CDI Box 4 Pin Ignition Coil Wire Loom for Quad ATV Quad Dirt Bike Go Kart 50cc 70cc 90cc 110cc 125cc". I'm hoping you can confirm that this is the same unit that you bought. Thank you.
Yes make sure that the boxes need a digital input, not an a/c input
Hello... im.sorry, but my question was very specific and your response was vague. What is the name of the Amazon seller and model/part number that you bought, installed and worked to replace the stock CDI units?
Unfortunatly I can not find the numbers but if you find the ones for a honda atv they will work they also have a digital input
I have the same problem, thank you very much.
You're welcome!
You are a legend mandou made my day! Thanks no more getting stuck and noise wheels!👌🏻
Great video, I am going to try and do something similar to my kids Preg Perego RZR 900
Is it from
?
Where do s that from
What?
Great work! Did you happen to test the output volts after the swap? If so, how does this compare to a factory RC51 CDI output? Thanks!
Yes, it was around 200 volts. The min spec was 100v. Unfortunately, the factory book only gives min. And I did not have a good one to test.
Yes 100 volt output
whats the cost break down?
This was a while ago, i believe around 50, but there are cheaper tires on the market now
Anymore update on this awesome ride? Just picked up a hurricane for my 3 and 1 year old looking to do the tire swap with the Premium 16x6.50-8 4Ply Directional X-Trac Snow Tire!
Good morning, wish I had another update. Projects fell to wayside. Woth the 24 volt set up my two older girls would ride around on it all day without any issues! Will hopefully have time to post new projests in the future. Thanks, Art
Did you use the narrower tube size for a specific reason?
Did not want to put excess pressure on the rim
How did you tread your tires?
Just wanted to say thanks for this video. You are the ONLY person that was nice enough to give all the information on this. I just did this on my son's f150 raptor and I can confirm it's almost exactly the same. The only difference is on the raptor it only has 3 screws holding the wheels together instead of 6 however the outer rim has provisions for all 6 still in the casting so you just have to drill the inner rim to run the extra 3 screws and then the rest is the same.
Thats great, I'm glad the cideo helped out!
Damm, new dune racer rims only use 3 screws
Got a question on your lights set up, where did you get the lights for the front and for the tail lights, that’s so awesome..my mother-in-law got the same Jeep Hurricane (green color) from a garage sale and I want to start my own project as well, got 3 boys and they love that thing..!! thanks..
Headlights were off the shelf at walmart, car fog lights, and the tail and amber were from ebay.
Hello Where did you get the wheels?
The rubber I used was from pneumatic tires purchased from harbor freight
Super cool mod. I think I’m going to do this to my son’s power wheel.
I just want to say that this modification is legendary. What a great way to go full pneumatic while using factory parts. I am planning on doing this when I make my son's F-150 Power Wheels into 4WD!
Can the f150 wheels be opened like the hurricane ?
@@charlesrg the raptor can. Not sure of the others. I just did this to my son's raptor. Only difference was the raptor had 3 screws holding the wheels together instead of 6 BUT they had the provisions for 6 you just have to drill 3 holes
@@ddeblaz1446 Yep. I've order some jeep hurricane wheels, and the new ones are 3 screws only. The Dune Racer issue is not the screw, but the size of the rim. It's too large for a 6 Inch and too small for a 8. So a 7 inch tire with that width is really hard to come about.
If you're gonna record vertical, make a vertical video. How frustrating...
What did U used to paint ? Rattle cans? What brand
I know this is an old thread, but I am doing this for my son. I got 16*6.50-8 tires with the same inner tubes. Did anyone use 16*6.50-8 inner tubes? or did everyone use the 4.80-8 like in the video? If I used 16*6.50-8 instead will that cause a major issue?
I built one of these to 48v too and itll run 32 down hill and 28 on flat with 15/30 gearing and solid wheels all around like the fronts. How did u make your wheels?
Check out my other response thanks
Hi, finally decided to upgrade the tires on my child’s hurricane, after I modified and mounted all of the wheels I noticed the keep is considerably slower than the plastic wheels, this is even with running a 18v battery. Are you running a larger power source, like a 24v? Thanks!
Yes 24volts
Would this work on a wrangler?
Where did you purchase the tires and whats the brand? Thanks for your reply in advance
Fucking genius bud!!!
Great Idea I’m gonna do this
Great
Very very clean
Do you know is i can do this to a ford f150
How did you wire your battery
I am planning to build another one, and I will video the full process!
How did you connect the batteries
How about a nut&bolt + cpl washers to hold those 2 sides of the rim?
That would be stronger, I wanted to keep the factory appearance on the outside of the wheel. Next Mod I will keep that in mind!
how did you grind down the plastic? did you use a sander? plastic knife?
Ok this is from 3 years ago. I'm totally going to do this to our hurricane. How did the motors hold up to the extra weight
They worked fine, even overvolted the to 24 volts
Can you give me the exact size of the longer screws you used for the wheels (I know you said 2.5" long), and where you sourced them? Thanks in advance!
I believe I picked them up from Home Depot, they were the same width as the originals
Thank you so much!! I just did the modification following the tutorial and it worked perfectly! It is now that I noticed how noisy the original plastic tires were!!!
Hi, your diagram has 2 separate 12v batteries going to 2 relays. I have my Kobalt 24v lithium battery to use so i am wondering if you know how to diagram 24v directly to the relays? or in this case, I don't need a relay at all but to hook up the battery to the controller directly. Thanks I love your videos btw, I am trying to find a cheap place to get the rubber tires. How much did you pay for your 4 tires?
I used 2 relays due to the amperage. I was pushing roughly 30 amps and the relays were rated for 20 each
Hello Art. I did the tire upgrade running stock motors and 12v. However, I hooked up the MLToys 24v batteries and after a while the 40 amp fuse blew. I wasn't sure what the weak link was as to why the Fuse Blew? I'm assuming I have to add the ESC and upgrading the motors and gears.
The esc will make a difference. If you're just using the stock pedal, the initial acceleration will spike current
Hi, thanks for this awesome idea. Do you have the link fot the tires? Doing my son's jeep hurricane mods.
I believe I purchased the through the Walmart web site
How did the tires hold up?
Had no issues
Thank you much...looking to do the same for my daughters along with the 24v upgrade. Think I'll enjoy more than them
Is it slower
Cool, had a similar idea and was looking for tire sizes, thanks for doing the leg work!
Art, really enjoy seeing what you've done. Could you email plans for the electric mod to me please. joeboyer124@comcast.net Thank you
Great idea, thanks
Cool idea. Thanks for sharing.
20 mph is so fast for a cart. Maybe you can think about getting a harbor freight engine on the cart.
Wanted to keep it as factory as possible. Quiet works well in neighborhoods!
Doing it following your directions! My rims have only 3 screws, not 6 like yours. Hope they hold lol Update: they didn't. Had to nut/bolt them though the 6 spokes.
I believe the first gen had three then they upgraded. Did the bolts do a better job?
