STRANDED at SEA on our FIRST SAIL ALONE!
Join us this week as we head out on our first ever sail ALONE from Fleetwood Marina to Piel Island. This was a much anticipated trip and we were so excited to blow off the cobwebs and get out into the open water.
Although, this journey didn’t quite go to plan, with a smoking engine and finding ourselves stuck in the channel, it couldn’t have been anything further away from what we had imagined our idyllic first sail could have been.
However after figuring out our engine problems with the help of very useful friends, and a dive in the questionable marina waters, we managed to get our plan back on track wind in our sails finally. Follow along to see how we made the best out of a bad situation. We were told sailing has the highest of highs and lowest of lows, and this video couldn’t epitomise this much more.

BOAT WORK Vol 1. TEAK RESTORATION of 30 year old SAILING YACHT
Переглядів 24 тис.Місяць тому
Join us this week as we tackle our first big project on our 48ft Franchini sailboat; restoring the teak wood on our toe rails, cockpit, and our fold down stern seats. In this video, we figure out the best process for this, which includes a LOT of sanding, come rain or shine. We learnt a lot over this week, and we felt we reaped the rewards of our work after seeing the finished result. ✨ Support...
FUTURE PLANS to LIVE OUT our SAILING DREAMS and HIDDEN SURPRISES

Join us this weekend as we get stuck into boat work on our Franchini 45L, which we purchased in February 2024 as complete beginners with big dreams! We enjoyed the beautiful summer solstice this weekend on board and set to on some odd jobs which have been on our tick list. We got down and dirty in the bilges, found some hidden surprises, re-organised the galley and attempted to fix one of our h...
We're SO SHOCKED at how RARE our BOAT is!

In this video we delve into a bit more about the boat and ourselves. Getting on top of the first of many jobs whilst still in Fleetwood Marina, but desperately eager to get ourselves and the boat to Glasson and really get stuck into boat work. We pull out some old blueprints and discover how rare our model of boat actually is. We hope you enjoy! ✨ Support our journey: [Buy Me a Coffee] - buymea...

Hi Ashley & Eloise, absolutely brilliant video and I'm already hooked! Beautiful boat, Fleetwood Marina, and a whole load of love and goodwill. (Your chemistry together, Stewart [with his mixed emotions about the boat's new chapter in life], the sailing community pitching in to help out.) I felt every emotion with you as you shared this story. LOVE your channel already, keep up the great storytelling! God bless & fair winds, Chris 👍

Well done you two, all part of the sailing adventure. The big positive is you persevered and dealt with the situation to solve the problem. Exactly the characteristics you need to cruise on a sail boat.

Just to add, you’ve done a great job with the toe rail, very high standard of repair.

There’s always work to do on a boat, that’s why I love them so much! There’s no substitute to having to do the work yourself, it’s how we learn to look after these sea ladies. You’re doing a great job and you’re exactly right about learning every bit of the boat. When you’re in that storm and one of the systems starts playing up, you need to be able to get on top of the problem asap. Looking forward to future vids.

Amazing!! Im loving the channel. I felt a bit anxious for you outside Fleetwood when the engine was overheating but then ecstatic for you when you reached Peel Island. I'm fully invested in your adventure. I'd love to come and watch you bring her into Glasson marina. ⛵ I've been watching a few sailing channels on UA-cam. I dont sail but love the sea. I'm feeling inspired to go can try it for myself. Keep up the great work!!

You guys have an amazing journey ahead. Love what you are doing. I'm not a woodworker or a sailor, but those splits in your rail anchors won't be secured by epoxy alone. Imo you've spent all that time and effort you should have shored up the strength using some dovetail/ bowtie cuts or something. It could save your life at sea one day. I wish you guys luck and will follow your journey vicariously.

Hi guys couple of tips open the splits before you inject the resin then clamp also use the yellow grit instead of green it’s last longer

You guys are doing so well! :) Don't worry about messing up, we all do it. I've been sailing over 40 years and still cock it up in the marina from time to time! "Bollards" = "Piles". Also.. The gunk on your filler pipe for the petrol can is just the plastic bag that's melted 'cos of contact with petrol!

I do not know why people are so averse to letting people have problems and make mistakes. It is disingenuous to edit out all the bad things. I watch things like this so that I might avoid some of the problems I will face when I am in your place.

Hi there both. I've just got back this weekend from my first outing on my boat (Mak Siccar) and also had an absolute disaster.. I was so crushed upon my return that I even wondered if I wanted to go out again (I will be uploading the full story on my UA-cam channel soon). However, after seeing your struggles, it quickly brought home that I am not alone, and sometimes; things just go wrong. You both dealt with your challenge in a calm and professional manner and came out triumphant. Thank you for reminding me about the power of bouncing back and not giving up. Nick
