I disagree with the point made 4:44 in the video. I don't think the intention was to be near God, instead it was to replace God.If we look at Ex 32 verse 4 we see their true intention: "Then they said, "These are our gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt" ". So firstly we see that they no longer praise God for what He had done for them, but had chosen the calf, by them saying these are your gods (referring to a calf). It's almost if they only believed in God as long as Moses was there. Secondly we see that they give all the glory to a calf, for bringing them out of Egypt (which is interesting knowing that the calf did not exist before they melted their earring- so it couldn't even if it somehow was capable. Aslo, why would a deity need mortals to construct it, that would not make it a deity but a human perception of what a deity is).Giving the glory to an object instead of God is blasphemy. We can thus say they constructed an alternative narrative in order to dislodge their obligation to God for taking them out of Egypt. Apis is a bull idol, which was worshiped in Egypt (I can see where they might have took inspiration) so we can't say they chose to be close to God, they chose to worship another thing instead of God. Aaron also says, "Israel", addressing the whole nation, thus implicating all of them- except for the tribe of Levi who did not worship the calf (verse 25). Thus we can see that there were people who was still beholdend to God and did not choose idol worship (So not everyone was crazy as there were some who did not forget the miracles God did for them). If I google Yahew, I do not get a calf? Can you elaborate on this point. Where in Exodus does it say they made a calf for God to be in the calf? If they missed God, then why did the tribe of Levi not also join them? The tribe of Levi also missed God, but they did not create an idol to be worshipped , nor did they partake in the worship like the rest of Israel. So this part of your argument needs elaboration. It is false to imply their intentions were pure- the contrast to the tribe of Levi, the fact that they made an idol closely resembling an already existing idol in Egypt.(Apis) They did not break a rule as the rule was not given to them as of yet (only Moses had the ten commandments) - they turned their back on God deliberately, therefore they received punishment.

On your comment of creative writing, I think this was definitely attempted but at the reduced skill level of beginning writers. There was the very boring history paired with the yen to punch up the story with fantasy. So while each fantastical beat of the saga is amazing, there's little to no continuity in the character motivations, especially YHWH who acts like a toddler through the majority of the latter half of Exodus.

I look at the Bible as a redemption story. Nearly everyone in the Bible has sinned. They are saved by coming to Christ (New Testament, of course). Why does Lucifer exist? Well… God had a purpose for him. If God has NOT eliminated him, it can only mean that he can STILL be redeemed. I don’t need to understand all the intricacies of the Bible. What I do need is faith. I have faith that what God has given me is for my benefit. He is a loving Father. I may not love all the rules or understand everything that He has told me, but I know it is for my benefit. If He “needs” me to know something, it will be revealed. This is much like my role as a father. Sometimes, I don’t reveal things to my children until they need to know them. Sometimes, I may withhold facts that I feel they are not prepared to hear. It is not malicious. It is for their benefit. The big picture comes together in time, and God certainly works on a timeframe that I can not possibly comprehend. An atheist’s inability to describe the nature of the universe does not bother me. Their lack of faith and or desire to believe in anything beyond this life does. Atheism is the end of hope, my friend. I won’t tell you what to believe, but I will ask why you want it to end in eternal nothingness? What is the point ? Why make your way to that finish line? You could just live fast and leave a beautiful corpse if there is nothing after this. If that’s the case, why even have a conversation about the Bible? Just move on. Seems like you are still seeking answers that can only be obtained from one source.

@@iangantner6976 Aren’t there places in the Bible that tell us Lucifer will be cast down to hell? Seems to indicate that he cannot be redeemed. He’s the arch nemesis who God has left in charge to deceive those he loves. It doesn’t matter what I want when I comes to truth. If I wanted to see loved ones after I die, it doesn’t make God and heaven real. Is some belief in a God you can’t understand what keeps you from self destructive behaviours? Sounds like you lack purpose or joy in the life you’re living. Even without an afterlife, I know I’ll live longer, healthier and happier if I make good choices. I want that for myself and for others. So, I’ll use my time ti try to diminish a lie I was raised with. ☺️

@@JoelReadsBible your point about your desire not being relevant is absolutely true. In fact, I’d say that fits neatly into the precepts of the Bible. Forgive my poor recall, but it does say something along the lines of man plans, but God’s will will be done. I’m obviously not a Biblical scholar, just a Christian who reads a bit and forgets lot. And yes, Lucifer was cast into Hell. perhaps, my memory is poor on the topic.. I didn’t recall “forever and ever” being in the translation I read. “Ages and ages” or “ a thousand years” stuck in my mind. There is, indeed, a difference! I will grant you that. But I am also not an expert on Aramaic, and some words simply don’t translate. So, I will stick with my original summary that the Bible is a story of redemption and since God CAN eliminate Satan, there must be a reason He hasn’t. While saying this, I will note, AGAIN, that I am not a Biblical scholar. I don’t need to recall all the details. What I have seen and experienced in my life confirms the existence of God and His loving nature. I can also verify that attempting to argue the Epicurean Paradox may be beyond my scope. So I will not do so. However, the Good Lord did not make that a requirement, and I am thankful for that. As far as my belief in God being what keeps me from bad behavior. The answer is most likely, yes. It may seem a bit simplistic to point to the animal kingdom for confirmation, but it’s what we have. Most animals are brutal, perhaps primates more so than many others. If the animals most similar to us have little problem with harsh treatment of others, what would lead me to believe that we would be any different without a moral compass that is rooted in religious beliefs. In this instance, I can’t argue that it is my God that provides that compass, because there are undeniably other religions that provide moral foundations, but what I can argue is that without some faith, people would likely be tragic beasts. I just happen to believe in one God. Others take their compass from their own religious background. Whether you chose to believe in my faith or not, religion has set the boundaries for societal ethics. You succumb to them by necessity, not because it is in your nature. You likely aren’t the individual that would bring respect for human life or a desire to “live clean” to the world if God hadn’t already cleared the path. Nor am I. Denying what religions, in general, and God specifically, has done for society seems a difficult argument to make. But I wish you luck if you choose to put your salvation at risk. There is still an undetermined amount of time to come to Him, and I will pray that you do so in an acceptable timeframe’. whether you want it or not!

My only issue with atheism is the attempt to disconnect the self from the rest of the universe, as if there is no connection which is impossible with rigid natural laws such as ours that govern the universe. We are connected to the furthest material reaches of the universe through gravity and the quantum fields that each object emits, and we are connected to all times, from the beginning of the universe to the end of the universe. This might be our conscious segment of that system but even before birth and after death, we are still a part of everything. That’s some wickedly cool and profound philosophy that can be discussed.

I don’t believe in random chance, as the only observations of random chance are caused by failures of scientific and mathematical models to account for all possible forces and behaviors at the subatomic level. The bible clearly can’t speak for itself. It requires far too much interpretation. Just go ask any other denomination that you disagree with, and surely you will both be able to provide verses and doctrines that prove your points as “biblical”. The bible is the only, ONLY thing we have that links us to God. Without the scriptures, there is no understanding the nature of Yahweh. So, if the above statement is true, which it is, then this deity is a very poor and weak communicator. This isn’t about people being smart or dumb, there’s both on either side. The question is: would you follow the Truth, even if it lead you away from Christianity?

Imagine if the Exodus writers described moving into your college dorm as a freshman: Together with your assigned roommate Bezalel and his buddy Oholiab, loft the beds. Return to your car and bring in your jeans, sweatshirts, and tee shirts on their hangers. Seven of each kind. Hang them in their appointed space. Bring in the cardboard box with your socks, underwear, toiletries, desk lamp and the pseudo-digital 1980’s AM/FM alarm clock/radio, the kind where the hours/minutes numbers flip over, that your favorite but elderly aunt saved from her college days to gift you. Put the box on the bed. Return to car and grab laundry basket with beer mugs and the pillow case stuffed with a sheet, blanket and towels. Put that also on the bed next to the box. Bring in the beer can sculpture, the one your older brother made the summer after he won the drinking contest, before he dropped out and became all he could be in camo. Use 3/8 x 3 inch galvanized lag bolts and the drill, drill bits and socket set Bezalel borrowed from his dad, Uri. Mount beer can trophy in the center of the wall over the space your bed occupied before lofting. Mount it 3 cubits above floor, as level as you can eyeball it. It is important to hit studs so drill as many holes as necessary to find three of them. Place your laptop and cables on the unoccupied desk. Move the car from the unloading zone. Together with Bezalel and Oholiab, go find the nearest party. And so it came to pass that Bezalel, Oholiab, and I together lofted the beds. The Bible and Quran are certainly very anthropomorphic books. But the Bible has way more scope for the improvisation of the various characters dialogues with YAHWEH versus any of the various Quranic characters dialogues with ALLAH. Muhammads views and ideas of God actually seem to be even more anthropomorphic than the various characters views in the Torah. So other backwards bronze age tribes in the Levant seem to have the same ideas about God aswell. Who would have thought it! Great show man and may the force be with you young Jedi.😊😊

Forget Catholicism. It is not biblical except for the fact that they believe in Jesus Christ as God and the holy Spirit otherwise the other things that they believe are just traditions handed down but not from the disciples of Jesus. The original disciples of Jesus. No worship of Mary, no first communion, no worship of the saints and they do this by praying to them. There is only one name that we can be saved by and that's Jesus Christ. So Catholicism teaches heresy. You're not going to find the majority of what they believe in the Bible. I'm talking about their traditions like transubstantiation, having to go to a priest to confess their sins, wearing the garb that they wear and I'm talking about the priests and the nuns. There is no reason for a priest to say celibate. Not unless he just doesn't feel a need to get married otherwise he's just wasting his sexuality and lives in frustration. Nuns do not need to say single but can marry and still devote their lives to Christ. You're not going to find these things in the Bible. So stay away from Catholicism and follow Jesus Christ. Because Catholicism with all the rules and regulations only take Jesus and stuff Him in their religion and keep people from finding him. Instead they'll just find that they have to practice a bunch of traditions to be accepted by God. And also the Pope is never been infallible. There is only been one person in history that was infallible and that's Jesus Christ. To teach that a pope is infallible is heresy also. The Bible teaches we are all fallible.

Something tells me this is a bunch of money minded Jews who wanted this crap to be made out of gold and gems.
